The Miracle of Awakening

3 A deeper look at Judas—Could You Betray Jesus Too? - Mark 14:10-21
2026/10/19
Why did Judas Iscariot betray Jesus? Was it really just about 30 pieces of silver—or was something far more dangerous happening in his heart? In this in-depth Bible study of Mark 14:10–16, we explore the betrayal of Jesus Christ, the spiritual danger of loving money, and the remarkable truth that God's sovereign plan was unfolding even through humanity's most wicked actions. Judas was not an outsider. He was one of the Twelve disciples who had walked with Jesus, witnessed His miracles, and heard His teaching. Yet he chose money over Christ. How could this happen? And what warning does his betrayal hold for us today? In this episode, we examine the human and divine dimensions of Jesus' journey to the cross. My sermons are the fruit of nearly 30 years of pastoral ministry, biblical counseling, formal seminary training, and a lifelong passion for God's Word. Since childhood, I've been drawn to the beauty and power of expository preaching—opening Scripture verse by verse and applying it to real life. After graduating from Moody Bible Institute, I spent the next 27 years serving as a youth pastor, senior pastor, church planter, and host of the Food For Your Soul radio broadcast. Along the way, I also earned a Master of Sacred Literature and a Doctor of Religious Studies. For more content from D. Richard Ferguson, visit TreasuringGod.com. God's Mighty Works
2026/10/19
The sermon recounts a missionary's struggle to communicate the gospel to an unreached tribe, highlighting the progression from linguistic barriers to spiritual opposition and finally to cultural skepticism. The speaker describes how demonic forces blinded the minds of the listeners, preventing them from accepting the truth despite the missionary's fluency in their language. This impasse was broken not by human argument, but by God's intervention through miraculous signs, including a man rising from the dead and visions that confirmed the missionary's testimony. These events served as divine validation, overcoming the tribe's disbelief and leading to genuine conversions that endured for decades. The narrative challenges the theological assumption that such sign gifts are limited to the early church, asserting instead that God uses them in any era when there is a need to establish the truth among unreached people.

Galatians 3:10-18 You Choose: Blessing or Curse? + PDF Discussion Guide NTRF.org

Argument: To persuade the Galatians that counterfeit gospel really was counterfeit, 1) he first appealed their own salvation experience wherein the they received the Spirit, accompanied with miracles. 2) He then appealed the Scripture (such as how Abraham was justified by faith). 3) Finally, he gave the example of human covenants. Beware: Of counterfeit gospels. Paul was not opposed to good works, but they have to be on the right side of the salvation equation. Counterfeit gospel: faith + works = saved Genuine gospel: faith = saved + works Who today teaches a counterfeit gospel? Roman Catholicism, Mormons, Jehovah's Witness, those who insist on baptismal regeneration.
Questioned and Rejected
2026/10/18
This sermon examines Jesus' return to Nazareth, where his hometown rejects him despite witnessing his wisdom and miracles. The central theme explores how familiarity with Christ can breed contempt rather than reverence, leading to a hardened heart that refuses to believe. The text argues that unbelief is not merely a lack of evidence but a spiritual condition that blocks God's blessings, as Jesus could do no mighty works there due to their lack of faith. Believers are warned against becoming desensitized to the gospel through routine, while unbelievers are challenged to recognize their own depravity and the need for regeneration. The passage serves as a lesson on the necessity of teaching for understanding, the expectation of rejection in ministry, and the urgent call to repent before the opportunity for faith passes.
Jesus Knows

During this time, in addition to Jesus cleaning out the temple, He performed miracles that were not recorded in the bible. Some believed as a result of these miracles, but was it a saving belief?
Are the Gifts of Healings and Miracles for Today?
2026/10/18
Are the miraculous gifts of healing and miracles still active in the church today? How can Christians distinguish genuine works of God from the claims of modern faith healers? In this sermon from 1 Corinthians 12:9–10, 28–30, Pastor Robb Brunansky examines the biblical evidence for miraculous healings and spiritual gifts by exploring the ministry of Jesus Christ, the works of the apostles in Acts, and the teaching of the New Testament letters. Through a careful study of Scripture, Pastor Robb identifies six defining characteristics of biblical miracles and healings: they were immediate, occurred both publicly and privately, involved individuals and groups, fulfilled Scripture, were unique in their power, and were certain in their results. This message challenges contemporary claims of miraculous healing, explains the unique role of signs and wonders in authenticating Jesus Christ and His apostles, and demonstrates why the miraculous gifts served a particular purpose in the establishment of the early church. Ultimately, the greatest miracle is not physical healing but the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. The miracles of Scripture point us to the Savior who alone has the authority to forgive sins and reconcile sinners to God.
Our Willing Savior
2026/10/18
This sermon examines the healing of a leper and a paralytic in Luke 5 to demonstrate the power, willingness, and divine authority of Jesus Christ. The central message asserts that while physical ailments are significant, the ultimate human struggle is sin, which only Christ has the authority to forgive. By contrasting the immediate physical healings with the declaration of forgiveness, the text highlights that these miracles serve as signs pointing to the greater spiritual reality of redemption. The preacher emphasizes the Reformed principle of Solus Christus, urging listeners to receive the assurance of forgiveness by faith rather than relying on their own efforts or legalistic observance. The tone is pastoral and convicting, inviting the congregation to trust in Christ's sufficiency for both their physical needs and their spiritual cleansing.
God's Great Work of Miracles: The Calming of a Storm

A Greater Lesson Than Walking on Water
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the narrative of Jesus walking on water and Peter's attempt to follow, emphasizing that the central purpose of the event is not merely the miracle itself but the revelation of Jesus' identity as the Son of God. The speaker highlights how the disciples' fear during the storm contrasts with Jesus' authority and comfort, illustrating that crises often test faith rather than result from disobedience. Peter's experience serves as a model for believers who may feel overwhelmed by life's circumstances, showing that looking away from Jesus leads to sinking, while crying out for help results in immediate rescue. The passage concludes with the disciples' worship, which the speaker identifies as the true climax, affirming that Jesus is worthy of adoration regardless of one's current situation. The message calls the audience to trust in Jesus' sovereignty and to prioritize their relationship with Him above all else, recognizing that their hope rests in His power to sustain and save them. Outline: 1) Our Circumstances Can Create a Crisis 2) Our Circumstances Can Bring a Command 3) Our Circumstances Can Lead to a Confession

The Bread of Life
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the significance of Jesus declaring Himself the bread of life within the context of the Passover and the miracle of the loaves. It distinguishes between merely admiring the provision of God and actively appropriating it, using the analogy of a farmer who fails to harvest a field. The message emphasizes that Christ is the necessary, sufficient, and often despised source of spiritual life, contrasting the temporary satisfaction of worldly pleasures with the enduring fulfillment found in Him. Listeners are urged to focus on the Giver rather than the gifts, trust in Christ's work rather than their own, and take hold of Him by faith to receive everlasting life.
