The Weaponization of Polls
2026/10/20
We are exactly two weeks from Election Day. Early voting is underway in many states yet every day leading up to the elections we are hearing news reports and broadcast stories referring to the polls. "The polls say…," "polling indicates…," "if the election were held today the polls show…," "the latest polls show…," "today's presidential approval rating is…" and the list goes on and on. Are you aware that polls are given in such a way to influence voters? Are you aware that polls are often given to discourage donors from giving? With the legacy media being in the driver's seat to so many of these poll-related stories, are they attempting to correct past mistakes or are they part of an effort to discourage conservatives? Joining Jim to discuss the weaponization of polls was Craig DeRoche. Craig is president and CEO of Family Policy Alliance and former speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives. He is a frequent speaker and author on faith, culture, public policy, and civic engagement. Callers helped wrap up the program with their thoughts and questions on this important subject. Loving Men in Light of the Lord
2026/10/19
Pastor walks his children through Children's Catechism question 75—especially explaining how the last six commandments apply the knowledge and love of God to how we love ourselves and others. Q75. What do the last six commandments teach? Our duty to our fellow men. This lesson explores the theological foundation of the last six commandments, identifying them as a summary of humanity's duty to fellow men. It clarifies that these commandments are not merely social rules but are rooted in the reality that all people are created in the image of God. The teaching corrects the modern notion of self-love as self-indulgence, arguing instead that proper self-regard and neighborly love are derived from, and defined by, God's law. By examining specific commandments regarding authority, life, marriage, property, truth, and desire, the lesson demonstrates how interacting with others is fundamentally an act of interacting with God. The central message emphasizes that our conduct toward neighbors is a direct reflection of our understanding of God's character and our own identity as His image-bearers.
Training the Heart
2026/10/19
Why are the Rod and Reproof so necessary? Proverbs 29:1–15 looks forward to the midweek sermon. In these fifteen verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that the rod and reproof are means that God uses to conform a child to Christ. The devotional explores the divine purpose behind parental discipline, explaining that the combination of verbal rebuke and physical correction is essential for training a child to receive God's Word. It contrasts the tragic trajectory of a child left to himself, who hardens his heart and harms self and others, with the wisdom cultivated through consistent, loving correction. The text emphasizes that this discipline is not an end in itself but serves the rebuke, which is a means of grace by which Christ brings the child to repentance and faith in Himself. The message urges parents to trust in God's sovereignty to use these instruments for the spiritual formation of their children, lest they end up in themselves rather than in Christ and like Christ.

Raising Godly Children
2026/10/18
This sermon examines the mutual obligations of children and parents as outlined in Ephesians 6, emphasizing that obedience to parents is ultimately an act of submission to Christ. The central message highlights that true obedience goes beyond external compliance to include heartfelt honor, reflecting the example of Jesus during His earthly upbringing. For parents, the text calls for diligent instruction and discipline that is tempered with love, avoiding both harshness and neglect. The goal of this godly discipline is not merely behavioral correction but the spiritual formation of children to share in God's holiness. By integrating Scripture into daily family life, parents fulfill their role as spiritual leaders who guide their households toward Christ.
Ecclesiastes 8
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the wisdom of Solomon in Ecclesiastes, emphasizing that correct interpretation of reality depends on a proper worldview rooted in divine truth. The text addresses the tension between earthly justice and the apparent success of the wicked, asserting that while human systems are flawed and delayed, God's judgment is perfect and eternal. It highlights the limitations of human knowledge, noting that no one can fully comprehend the works of God or control the timing of life and death. The message encourages believers to trust in God's sovereignty over history and nature, finding contentment in the present moment rather than anxiety over the future. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a recognition of human finitude and a reliance on the wisdom that discerns both time and judgment.
Heaven Is a Real Place
2026/10/18
This sermon introduces a series focused on establishing the theological truth that heaven is a tangible, real place rather than a cultural fantasy or religious myth. The speaker contrasts biblical teaching with various ancient religious concepts, modern cultural misconceptions, and false testimonies from charismatic circles to demonstrate the necessity of grounding one's hope in Scripture. By citing Colossians 3:1-2, the message urges believers to set their minds on heavenly things, emphasizing that the reality of God's presence far surpasses human imagination or fabricated accounts. The sermon distinguishes between valid biblical visions, such as those of Isaiah and John, and deceptive narratives, calling for a disciplined, scriptural understanding of the afterlife. The tone is instructional and corrective, aiming to align the congregation's perspective with the authoritative witness of the Bible.
Reasons for God's Divine Restraint in Our Lives
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the theological reasons behind God's divine restraint in the lives of believers, illustrating how divine intervention often prevents human error or redirects passion toward a higher purpose. Through the narrative of David and Abigail in 1 Samuel, the text highlights how God protects individuals from the ungodly impulses of their own hearts, particularly when emotions cloud judgment. The discussion expands to John 11, where Jesus' delay in visiting Lazarus demonstrates that God often requires waiting rather than immediate knowledge to deepen faith and glorify Himself. Additionally, the sermon uses Acts 16 to show how closed doors serve to redirect believers' efforts toward the specific good works prepared by God, as referenced in Ephesians 2:10. Finally, the account of Jonah illustrates that God may restrain believers through correction to break their resistance, ensuring they become willing participants in His will rather than unwilling vessels.

The Church of Christ Built upon the Rock
2026/10/18
This sermon examines Matthew 16:18 to refute the Roman Catholic doctrine of papal supremacy, arguing that Jesus did not establish Peter as the supreme head of the church. The speaker contends that Peter is presented as a leader among equals, with the foundation of the church resting on the collective apostles and prophets, with Christ as the cornerstone. By citing Ephesians 2 and Galatians 2, the text demonstrates that Peter was subject to correction and did not claim infallibility or unique authority over other apostles. The sermon warns against the allure of Roman Catholicism's historical aesthetics, labeling the papacy as blasphemous for usurping the roles of Father, High Priest, and Vicar of Christ. Ultimately, the message calls believers to reject human mediation and submit solely to the authority of Scripture and the supremacy of Jesus Christ.
24 2 Timothy lesson 9 end
2026/10/18
This lesson examines 2 Timothy 2:19, emphasizing that the firm foundation of God remains immovable despite the presence of false teaching within the church. The discussion highlights the theological distinction between positional truth, where believers are raised with Christ, and the future bodily resurrection, correcting the errors of those who deny the latter. The 'seal' of God is presented as a guarantee of ownership and authenticity, assuring believers of their security without the need for self-effort. Consequently, those who claim the name of the Lord are called to abstain from wickedness, which is defined as stepping away from unsound doctrine to maintain the purity of the body. The sermon concludes with the assurance that God's faithfulness, not human understanding, secures the believer's standing.
Our Advocate
2026/10/18
We look at 1 John 2:1, emphasizing that believers are addressed as 'little children' who require both correction and encouragement to maintain holy fellowship.
A Wholesome Tongue
2026/10/18
The sermon explores the profound impact of speech on spiritual life, anchoring the discussion in Proverbs 15 and James 3. It emphasizes that a wholesome tongue acts as a tree of life, while perverseness breaks the spirit, urging believers to align their words with divine wisdom rather than worldly impulses. The message highlights the necessity of receiving reproof and correction, noting that a fool despises instruction while a prudent person embraces it for growth. By connecting the heart's condition to the mouth's output, the teaching asserts that God desires a transformed heart that yields a cheerful countenance and a life of righteousness. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a reliance on Scripture over personal opinion, encouraging a community that speaks life, accepts correction, and seeks the peace that comes from above.
