3 A deeper look at Judas—Could You Betray Jesus Too? - Mark 14:10-21
2026/10/19
Why did Judas Iscariot betray Jesus? Was it really just about 30 pieces of silver—or was something far more dangerous happening in his heart? In this in-depth Bible study of Mark 14:10–16, we explore the betrayal of Jesus Christ, the spiritual danger of loving money, and the remarkable truth that God's sovereign plan was unfolding even through humanity's most wicked actions. Judas was not an outsider. He was one of the Twelve disciples who had walked with Jesus, witnessed His miracles, and heard His teaching. Yet he chose money over Christ. How could this happen? And what warning does his betrayal hold for us today? In this episode, we examine the human and divine dimensions of Jesus' journey to the cross. My sermons are the fruit of nearly 30 years of pastoral ministry, biblical counseling, formal seminary training, and a lifelong passion for God's Word. Since childhood, I've been drawn to the beauty and power of expository preaching—opening Scripture verse by verse and applying it to real life. After graduating from Moody Bible Institute, I spent the next 27 years serving as a youth pastor, senior pastor, church planter, and host of the Food For Your Soul radio broadcast. Along the way, I also earned a Master of Sacred Literature and a Doctor of Religious Studies. For more content from D. Richard Ferguson, visit TreasuringGod.com. Cravings and Conflicts: How Our Fights Expose Our Hearts
2026/10/18
Conflict can feel like an out-of-body experience. You watch it unfold but feel helpless to do anything. When it's over, you've got a mess, an ulcer, and a big question: "Where'd that come from?" James has an answer – but we may not like it. The problem lies within. There's conflict among us because there's conflict in us. Conflict exposes our hearts as unsettled, unsatisfied, and unsubmitted. In doing so, it shows us our need for the grace our Father so generously gives.
Ecclesiastes 8
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the wisdom of Solomon in Ecclesiastes, emphasizing that correct interpretation of reality depends on a proper worldview rooted in divine truth. The text addresses the tension between earthly justice and the apparent success of the wicked, asserting that while human systems are flawed and delayed, God's judgment is perfect and eternal. It highlights the limitations of human knowledge, noting that no one can fully comprehend the works of God or control the timing of life and death. The message encourages believers to trust in God's sovereignty over history and nature, finding contentment in the present moment rather than anxiety over the future. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a recognition of human finitude and a reliance on the wisdom that discerns both time and judgment.
Heirs of God
2026/10/18
In "Heirs of God," Pastor Robert McNutt begins the final verse of his extended study of Romans 8:12-17, asking why Paul was not content to stop at verse 16's witness of the Spirit that we are children of God. Paul presses on because sonship carries an inheritance, and the Spirit who seals us is also the guarantee of that inheritance (2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:13-14). Writing to Romans, whose law made all children equal heirs rather than giving the firstborn a double portion, Paul declares that every believer, not merely some, is an heir of God and a fellow heir with Christ, destined for the same glory. Yet only those led by the Spirit are God's children; there is no universal brotherhood of man. Pastor McNutt traces the promised inheritance from Genesis 3:15 through Seth, Abraham, and Judah, noting that Israel looked for the city whose designer and builder is God. Gentiles were once strangers to the covenants of promise, but in Christ they are now Abraham's offspring and fellow heirs (Galatians 3:29; Ephesians 3:6). This hope fills the New Testament, from the King's "inherit the kingdom" to Peter's inheritance imperishable, undefiled, and unfading and John's "we shall be like Him." Because suffering Roman believers needed this comfort, the hope of glory must shape our evangelism: the gospel does not promise to fix every problem in this life, but calls sinners under God's wrath to repent and promises an eternal inheritance. Believers taste only the firstfruits now, and this blessed hope should be the controlling thought of our lives, enabling us to endure anything until the day God makes everything the way it is supposed to be.

Paul closes his letter thanking the Philippians for their generosity. What can we learn from these verses about our giving as an act of worship?
Content in Christ
2026/10/18
This sermon examines Hebrews 13, focusing on the call to be content with what God provides and to avoid covetousness by trusting in His unchanging presence. It emphasizes that while believers are to respect and obey church leaders, this submission is strictly qualified by their adherence to Christ, as seen in the examples of Peter and John obeying God rather than men. The teaching further instructs the congregation to remain established in sound doctrine while maintaining an open mind to truth, avoiding both rigidness and being carried away by strange teachings. Ultimately, the message encourages a bold confidence in the Lord as the ultimate helper and authority, surpassing any human institution or leader.

A Spiritual Meaning to Life
2026/10/18
Solomon's words here are not sarcasm. They are counsel for believers who live under the sun. Eat your bread with joy. Drink your wine with a merry heart. God has already accepted your works — not because we earn it, but because our lives are in His hands. Wear the garments of praise. Live joyfully with the spouse He has given. And whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, because the race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong. Time and providence happen to them all. This is not a call to self-centered pleasure. It is a call to thankful contentment and diligent labor — for the glory of the God who gives both the bread and the breath. Life under the sun is short. Do the work. Enjoy the gift. Fear God.
I Am The Bread Of Life
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the declaration in John 6:35, 'I am the bread of life,' emphasizing that Christ alone satisfies the spiritual hunger of the human soul. The message distinguishes between physical sustenance and eternal life, arguing that worldly pleasures are broken cisterns that fail to fill the innate longing for God. Through the metaphor of bread, the preacher illustrates the significance of Christ's deity, the satisfaction found in His atoning work on the cross, and the sufficiency of His grace for all who believe. The tone is both instructional and inviting, urging listeners to move beyond mere admiration of Christ to personally partake of Him through saving faith. Ultimately, the sermon presents Christ as the only source of true contentment and everlasting life, calling the unconverted to flee to Him for refuge.
Christian Contentment, So Rare
2026/10/18
Verse by verse exposition through the book of Hebrews. (Sermon also includes the reading and exhortation from the Lord's Table liturgy) Heb 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." 6 So we may boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" 1 Tim 6: 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows..... 17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share...
