From There You Will Seek
2026/10/18
This sermon examines Deuteronomy 4:25-31, where Moses prophesies Israel's future idolatry, resulting in national destruction and exile, yet promises that God will not ultimately abandon His covenant people. The message highlights the tension between human responsibility for sin and God's sovereign mercy, arguing that the ability to seek God after ruin is itself a gift of divine grace. By connecting the Old Testament narrative to the New, the sermon identifies Jesus Christ as the one who bore the full curse of the broken covenant, thereby preserving the ancient oath to Abraham. The central theme is that God's judgment and mercy meet in the cross and resurrection, offering restoration to all who trust in Him rather than in idols.
The Destruction of Mens’ Wisdom
2026/10/18
This Sunday School lesson examines 1 Corinthians 1:19-20 to demonstrate how God systematically dismantles the self-reliant wisdom of humanity. The teaching connects Paul's citation of Isaiah 29 to the historical judgment of Jerusalem, illustrating that rejecting divine truth leads to the destruction of men. It identifies the 'wise,' 'scribes,' and 'disputers' as representatives of worldly intellect who ultimately fail to stand against the power of the cross. The central argument is that the gospel acts as a great equalizer, rendering human education and oratory skills irrelevant in the face of God's simple, and yet profound, truth. Ultimately, the passage asserts that God's wisdom exposes the vanity of human reasoning and offers salvation equally to all sinners, as well as the commission to preach it to all Christians, regardless of their intellectual status.
Jonah's disobedience
2026/10/18
Like Jonah, our disobedience is deliberate, foolish, indefensible and destructive. The only hope for the disobedient is the obedience of another Galilean prophet - Jesus, the greater than Jonah, God's final Prophet.
The Many Benefits of Being a Child of God
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the profound identity of believers as children of God, emphasizing the authority and security that come with this status. Drawing from Psalm 103, the message encourages the congregation to actively recall the benefits of belonging to God, countering the human tendency to forget. The central themes include being remitted of all iniquities, restored from spiritual and physical sickness, redeemed from destruction, rewarded with steadfast love, and renewed with inner strength. The tone is pastoral and comforting, urging listeners to meditate on these truths to combat doubt and find satisfaction in God alone. The sermon concludes with a call to worship and a reminder of the ultimate hope found in Christ.
Reversal and Restraint
2026/10/18
Sermon | Esther 9:1-16 | Sunday Evening Service, October 18 2026. Preacher: Rocky Stevenson The sermon explores the dual themes of divine reversal and human restraint found in Esther 9, highlighting how God flips the fate of His people from destruction to victory. It connects this event to the historical disobedience of King Saul in 1 Samuel 15, arguing that the Jews' refusal to plunder their enemies, despite having legal right to do so, completes a cycle of obedience that was failed five centuries prior. Ps Rocky emphasizes that God's covenant faithfulness remains irrevocable even amidst Israel's disobedience, using this narrative to illustrate the broader theological truth that God's grace is displayed against the backdrop of human sin. By referencing Romans 11 and 12, the message concludes that the appropriate response to God's mercy is not entitlement or greed, but a transformed life characterized by holy restraint and gratitude. #reversal #restraint #obedience #covenant #grace Visit Benoni Bible Church: www.benonibiblechurch.co.za Address: 149 President Brand Rd, Rynfield, Benoni - view on Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/oag383xq3U2b7RQN6 Copyright © 2026, Benoni Bible Church. Introduction to Babylon's Destruction

The Power of the Tongue
2026/10/18
This sermon examines the profound influence of the tongue, highlighting its capacity to direct life and cause destruction. Using the metaphors of a horse's bit, a ship's rudder, and a spreading fire, the message illustrates how small words can have massive consequences, citing historical examples of fires and biblical accounts of King Saul. The text emphasizes that the tongue is an unruly evil that defiles the body and is inconsistent in its ability to both bless God and curse men. It asserts that human effort alone is insufficient to tame the tongue, requiring supernatural grace and the control of the Holy Spirit. The sermon concludes with a call for believers to submit their speech to God's authority, praying for words that are acceptable in His sight and reflecting a redeemed life.
Sons of Light & Day Watch
2026/10/18
We are continuing on in our study of the Practice of Holy Christian Watchfulness in relation to our being ready for Christ's 2nd Coming, whether this is in relation to our own death; that is, that we would be better prepared to meet Christ face to face. And also, that we would be thinking forward to what it will mean when Christ returns, raises all the dead, and judges the world. If we are faithful we will be able to stand with Him on that glorious Day, radiant and unashamed. So concerning the times and the seasons, we do not need to be concerned about them too much, except to say, that we ought to be aware of what the Bible does specifically teach us, not only about the Destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D., but also that there are times in this New Testament Age which are mentioned in the Book of Revelation which concern the Church's progress in her witness, in all generations. These things ought to be looked into, and thought about, as far as the Lord will enable us to understand them from reading all of the Bible, so that we will be watching and be sober in regard to the Lord's judgments, whether they are related to any time in the past, or what is yet to come.
From Destruction to Beauty (Hosea 14)
2026/10/18
Main Point God turns death and destruction into life and beauty when we repent and return to Him. This sermon concludes a study of the book of Hosea by examining the final chapter, which presents a vivid contrast between judgment and restoration. The central message emphasizes that God turns death and destruction into life and beauty when His people repent and return to Him with sincere words of confession. The text highlights the necessity of abandoning reliance on political powers or idols, acknowledging that only God provides true salvation and fruitfulness. Through poetic imagery of dew, lilies, and olive trees, the passage illustrates the spiritual refreshment and strength that accompany genuine repentance. The sermon concludes with a call to action, urging believers to confess specific sins and trust in God's promise to heal backsliding and love freely, ultimately pointing to the sufficiency of Christ for salvation.
The Lord preserves His Son to fulfill Israel's history of redeeming a people.
2026/10/18
We see: 1. The Lord preserves His Son from destruction through His sovereign Word (v. 13) 2. God preserves His Son through Joseph's obedience for the salvation of His people (v. 14) 3. God fulfills His Word by calling His Son out of Egypt and revealing Him as the faithful Son (v. 15)
The Gospel of Glory
2026/10/18
(Sunday Service) The Gospel of Glory Philippians 3:17-21: "Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.."

2026/10/18
Psalm 21:8–13 sets before the church a confident eschatological expectation concerning Christ's second coming and his final triumph over all enemies of God. Main points: - the king's enemies and their certain destruction - the nature and completeness of divine judgment on Christ's foes - the church's response — exalting the Lord in confident praise Scripture references: - Psalms 20:1-9; 21:1-13 Free Grace Baptist Church — https://www.freegrace.ca Full transcript & sermon notes: https://sermons.freegrace.ca/sermons/sermon-psalm-21-the-kings-exaltation-and-future-triumph-part-2 Description generated by Tyrannus.ai: https://www.tyrannus.ai
Christian Contentment, So Rare
2026/10/18
Verse by verse exposition through the book of Hebrews. (Sermon also includes the reading and exhortation from the Lord's Table liturgy) Heb 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." 6 So we may boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" 1 Tim 6: 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows..... 17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share...
