Acts 14.1-28 - Two Missionaries Preaching
2026/10/19
This sermon examines the missionary journey of Paul and Barnabas as recorded in Acts 14, highlighting the consistent opposition they faced from both Jewish and Gentile communities. The central message emphasizes that the true relationship with God is founded strictly on His grace rather than human works, and that faithful preaching of the Word inevitably invites resistance. The text explores the theological implications of Paul's resurrection after being stoned, suggesting a profound spiritual encounter, while contrasting the humility of true ministers with the self-aggrandizement of modern religious figures. The preacher argues that entering the kingdom of God requires enduring tribulation, and that the early church's success was built on the sacrificial lives of its leaders who remained steadfast despite persecution. The lesson concludes with a call for spiritual confirmation and the importance of divinely appointed leadership in the church, warning against the dangers of ungodly ministry and the closing door of faith in a hostile world.
God's Mighty Works
2026/10/19
The sermon recounts a missionary's struggle to communicate the gospel to an unreached tribe, highlighting the progression from linguistic barriers to spiritual opposition and finally to cultural skepticism. The speaker describes how demonic forces blinded the minds of the listeners, preventing them from accepting the truth despite the missionary's fluency in their language. This impasse was broken not by human argument, but by God's intervention through miraculous signs, including a man rising from the dead and visions that confirmed the missionary's testimony. These events served as divine validation, overcoming the tribe's disbelief and leading to genuine conversions that endured for decades. The narrative challenges the theological assumption that such sign gifts are limited to the early church, asserting instead that God uses them in any era when there is a need to establish the truth among unreached people.
Temptation Mortification of Sin - John Owen's Works Volume 6 Walkthrough
2026/10/19

Edited with meticulous historical and textual care by Scottish scholar William H. Goold, this seminal volume guides the believer through a complete map of spiritual warfare—from the relentless internal fight in The Mortification of Sin and the subtle entanglements of Of Temptation, to the psychological depths of Indwelling Sin and the glorious, covenantal assurance of An Exposition upon Psalm 130. Whether you are navigating the subtle deceitfulness of the human heart, guarding against spiritual presumption in leadership, or seeking a path out of the depths of guilt into gospel forgiveness, Owen's penetrating insights offer an enduring, Christ-centered anchor for the soul.
"Christ the Mediator" Ch. 8, Sec. 4
2026/10/18
"This office the Lord Jesus did most willingly undertake; which that He might discharge, He was made under the law, and did perfectly fulfil it, endured most grievous torments immediately in His soul, and most painful sufferings in His body; was crucified, and died; was buried, and remained under the power of death; yet saw no corruption. On the third day He arose from the dead, with the same body in which He suffered, with which also he ascended into heaven, and there sitteth at the right hand of His Father, making intercession, and shall return to judge men and angels at the end of the world." Chapter 8, Section 4 (Westminster Confession of Faith)
A New Testament Family
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the book of Philemon as a portrait of the gospel manifested in everyday family life, focusing on the first three verses to highlight the character of Philemon, Apphia, and Archippus. The central message emphasizes that faith is not merely a religious observance but a practical reality that transforms relationships within the home. Philemon is presented as a model of self-sacrificial love and active labor in ministry, while Apphia exemplifies loyalty and support for her husband and children. Archippus is described as a young believer who endures the hardships of spiritual warfare as a fellow soldier of Christ. The exposition concludes by asserting that even such a devoted family requires God's grace and peace to navigate the challenges of ministry and domestic life, urging believers to rely on divine help rather than human effort.
Facing Trials
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the biblical perspective on enduring hardship, emphasizing that trials are inevitable and serve a divine purpose in building spiritual character. The central message encourages believers to view diverse temptations with joy, not because suffering is desirable, but because it produces patience and reveals God's presence. The text highlights the necessity of seeking God's wisdom during times of crisis, warning against double-mindedness and urging a committed response to divine direction. It further illustrates God's providence in raising the lowly and humbling the rich, reminding the audience that earthly circumstances are temporary. Ultimately, the sermon points to the eternal reward of the crown of life for those who endure, urging believers to grow through resistance rather than allowing it to breed bitterness.
Evil Returned upon our Head
2026/10/18
This sermon examines the narrative of Nabal and Abigail in 1 Samuel 25, contrasting the husband's stubbornness and evil deeds with his wife's wisdom and understanding. The preacher highlights how Nabal's harshness mirrors the stiff-necked behavior of Israel described in Judges, serving as a warning against suppressing known truth and acting in self-righteous vengeance. In response to Nabal's insult, David prepares for retribution, but Abigail intervenes with humility and provision, successfully averting bloodshed and demonstrating the power of wise counsel. The passage concludes with the Lord striking Nabal, illustrating that divine judgment is certain and operates on God's timing rather than human initiative. Ultimately, the sermon points to Christ as the greater David who endured revilement without retaliation, encouraging believers to trust in God's justice and avoid taking vengeance into their own hands.
Daniel: A Lion Among Men Pt 4 "Equipped To Stand"
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the concept of divine workmanship by examining Daniel's three years of preparation in Babylon, framing his success not as a product of Babylonian education but as the result of God's sovereign provision. The central message emphasizes that God equips believers to stand firm in secular environments without compromising their identity, illustrating this through Daniel's refusal to be defiled and his subsequent excellence in wisdom and understanding. The text highlights the theological principle that talents are God-given gifts intended for His glory, urging listeners to reject false humility and actively steward their abilities. By contrasting the temporary nature of earthly kingdoms with the eternal sovereignty of God, the sermon encourages perseverance and faithfulness in small matters as the foundation for greater influence. Ultimately, it presents Daniel's life as a model of enduring faithfulness, challenging the audience to trust God's preparation and continue serving Him with integrity regardless of their circumstances.
Can you hear me God?
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the emotional and spiritual depth of Jeremiah's lament in Lamentations, highlighting how the prophet felt abandoned and burdened by God's judgment on Jerusalem. The message contrasts this feeling of isolation with the enduring truth of God's faithfulness, using the parallel narrative of Job to illustrate how suffering can lead to spiritual refinement. It emphasizes that while human relationships may fail or become bitter, God's mercies are new every morning and never fail. The preacher encourages the audience to shift their focus from their circumstances to the Savior, reminding them that God is present even in the darkest times. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a daily meditation on Scripture as a source of strength and a reminder that God has not forsaken His people.
Emotionally Driven Vs. Spirit Led
2026/10/18
The sermon explores the distinction between being emotionally driven and being Spirit-led, emphasizing that true discipleship requires enduring faithfulness rather than fleeting emotional responses. Drawing from John 8, the message highlights Jesus' instruction to continue in His word as the path to knowing the truth and achieving genuine freedom. The speaker shares personal testimony about past instability and the importance of maintaining commitments, responsibilities, and order in daily life. By submitting the mind, will, and emotions to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, believers can avoid the chaos of emotional instability and walk in the discipline that produces lasting spiritual fruit. The central call is to seek the Lord consistently, allowing His guidance to direct life rather than relying on transient feelings or worldly pleasures.
Endure to the End (Part 5)
2026/10/18
Prayer - #5 of 7 essentials for enduring to the end
1 Peter 2:13-25
2026/10/18
This sermon explores the call to Christian submission and righteous living as outlined in 1 Peter 2, emphasizing that believers are to honor human institutions and endure unjust suffering for the sake of Christ. The message clarifies that true freedom in Christ is not a license for sin but a mandate to serve God and demonstrate good works that silence the ignorance of others. By referencing the Suffering Servant in Isaiah 53, the text highlights how Jesus bore the world's sins on the cross, providing a model for believers to entrust themselves to God's justice rather than retaliating against revilement.
24 1 Peter 3:13-17Conduct in Suffering pt 1
2026/10/18
This sermon explores God's remedy for suffering by examining the command to sanctify Christ as Lord in the heart, shifting focus from external persecution to internal devotion. The teaching emphasizes the believer's responsibility to be perpetually ready to provide a verbal defense of their faith, known as apologia, when questioned about the hope within them. This defense must be delivered with gentleness, reverential fear, and a good conscience, which is rooted in the finished work of Christ. The passage highlights that while suffering for righteousness is a remote possibility, it is ultimately better to suffer for doing right than for doing wrong, as such endurance finds favor with God. The tone is instructional and pastoral, encouraging believers to rely on the Holy Spirit to embody these character traits while maintaining a secure hope in God's promises.
Abraham’s Great Test
2026/10/18
(18) Prepare for Christ the Judge
2026/10/18
Christ is "coming again to judge the living and the dead." That is one of the basic truths believers confess. So important is the final judgment that the Bible devotes almost an entire book to that theme. Revelation reveals the closing chapters of the great drama of human history—the conflict between the offspring of the serpent and the offspring of the woman. In the judgment God will affirm his love to his dear children. But upon those who reject him and have sided with Satan will be judged. The seven bowls of God's wrath are Scriptures most intense portrayal of God's judgment. Whatever we feel about the judgment, it is coming. But we ought to feel something about the judgment. More than that, we ought to respond with godly zeal to the warnings God gives about the judgment. In Revelation, the Lord previews for his church "the things that must soon take place" to encourage them as they endure tribulation (Rev. 1:9).
