Spirit-given Judgment
2026/10/18
The God who claimed you for Himself is working Christlikeness in you through His lowly ministers as they help you to serve God every day. - God gives you His lowly ministers to help you repent of worldliness so that you might serve God in your daily living (7:36–38). - God gives you His lowly ministers to help you choose to obey so that you might serve God in your daily living (7:39). - God gives you His lowly ministers to help you persevere in the faith so that you might serve God in your daily living (7:40).
Luke 8 14-15 Parable of the Soils, pt 4
2026/10/18
In this 4th installment in the explanation Jesus gives concerning the Seed and the Soils, we get to see a close proximation (though it still misses the mark) of what salvation looks like, and a good example of what True Salvation looks like. There are lots of people attending churches today (on a somewhat regular basis) whose lives are filled with so many worldly-oriented things and so many energy consuming focuses that are not growing their faith or giving them opportunities to minister their faith to their neighbors. They are able to talk a faith that sounds good on the surface. But they are not engaged in things that draw their hearts closer to Jesus and therefore are not helping them to mature in their faith. Their lives are unable to bear good fruit, because they are being choked out by the cares of the world and their love of the world (1 John 2:15-17; James 4:4; Matthew 6:24, etc.). John the Baptist said that there is a fruit of repentance that follows the act of faith in God (Mt 3:8). Jesus told His disciples that those He has chosen would bear fruit and that fruit would remain (John 15:16). Paul, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit proclaimed that the fruit of the Spirit is very obvious when compared to the deeds of the flesh (Galatians 5:22-25), and that it would show up in how they live their daily lives (Colossians 1:10) and would be able to be seen as excellent (Philippians 1:9-11). The key difference is not in the because of some different soil. All four are in the same area where the seed is scattered - it all looks pretty much the same. The key is in the hearer's heart response to the movement and call of the Holy Spirit on their lives (Ro 1:16-32).
Bad Form vs. Good Form

The 7 Churches - Laodicea
2026/10/04
This sermon addresses the condition of the Church of Laodicea, warning believers against the spiritual danger of being lukewarm by blending worldly pursuits with Christian faith. The central message emphasizes that God desires extreme devotion, requiring believers to be fervent in their love for Him and zealous in their good works, rather than maintaining a half-hearted commitment. Drawing from Revelation 3, 1 John 2, and Titus 2, the text argues that loving the world chokes the word and leads to spiritual barrenness, whereas true holiness involves hating evil and cleaving to righteousness. The preacher urges the audience to reject the deception of material wealth, which blinds the soul to its true poverty, and to instead seek the eternal value of serving God. The tone is convicting and urgent, calling for immediate repentance and a renewed, wholehearted dedication to God's will before it is too late.
Love Not the World
2026/10/04
Loving God and loving the world are incompatible because the world's values and ways are contrary to God. Salvation brings a real change in a person's life, separating them from their former way of living and turning their affections toward God, His Word, and His people. The love of the world can keep people from fully yielding to Christ and can draw professing believers away from God's work and truth. Scripture calls believers to come out from the world, refuse conformity to it, set their affection on things above, and remain faithful to God's people. The real issue is where the heart belongs, because what a person loves, enjoys, and chooses reveals whether their deepest affection is for God or for this present world.
The Death that Brings Life
2026/10/04
This expository sermon explores the paradox of being crucified with Christ yet living by faith. It emphasizes that salvation is grounded in Christ's personal love and substitutionary death, which calls for a believer's identification with Him in dying to self, sin, and the world. The message distinguishes between mere mental assent and the active trust required to receive this grace, highlighting that the object of faith determines its power. Furthermore, it presents the indwelling presence of Christ as the source of new motivation and supernatural strength for the Christian life, enabling believers to overcome sin and live in a manner that reflects His character.
The Greatest Commandment | Matthew 22:34-40
2026/10/04
Sermon | Matthew 22:34-40 | Sunday Morning Service, October 05 2026. Guest Preacher: Hennie Moolman This sermon explores the theological depth of the greatest commandment, arguing that true love for God is fundamentally a matter of the heart's affections rather than mere intellectual assent or outward behavior. By analyzing the Greek prepositions in the text, the message highlights that the heart is the unique wellspring from which all genuine devotion, joy, and obedience flow. Hennie warns against the danger of religious performance that lacks internal delight, citing Jesus' critique of those who honor God with their lips while their hearts are far away. To cultivate this heart-level love, the sermon offers practical steps including being born again, resisting worldliness and sinful influences, and engaging in daily, intentional communion with God's Word. Ultimately, the central call is for believers to find their supreme satisfaction in God, recognizing that He is most glorified when His people are most delighted in Him. The Apostasy of Worldly Demas
2026/10/04
VaultAI Summary: This sermon examines the contrasting destinies of the Apostle Paul and Demas, illustrating the danger of apostasy driven by a love for the present world. The central message warns that prioritizing temporary worldly gains over eternal faith leads to spiritual loss, as seen in Demas's abandonment of Paul. In contrast, Paul's steadfastness is attributed to his deep love for Christ and his anticipation of the crown of righteousness. The preacher urges believers to diagnose their hearts by examining their time, money, and affections, emphasizing that the remedy for worldliness is not merely avoidance but a greater, transformative love for Jesus. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a life oriented toward the second coming of Christ, where believers will be with the Lord forever, rather than perishing with the expiring world.
