The final instalment of the 2025 Cottage Mix Series! This is a very special one (and not just because it's the last mix before The Soul Shack turns 20!) - earlier in the year I was at my STK residency and thought it would be cool to use part of the night to make a short recording of all 80's retro remixes. I thought at best, I could maybe make an hour long mix before having to change it up out of 80's remixes...but that didn't happen. Instead, the people there that night were appreciating it, and coming up to me and asking for other 80's artists so I just kept going...and just like that, we got this timeless 3hr mix of remixed 80's classics! Hope you enjoy, and if you do, please share and repost for others to enjoy too! - Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dj_j_me- Bookings & Merch: jamiewichartz @ yahoo.ca- Subscribe on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id306968245

The Cottage Mix Series continues! Moving along the flow of a cottage weekend, we're now at the Sunday Morning edition! This was actually recorded during cocktails/dinner at a wedding earlier this summer, where the couple's musical tastes made it the perfect opportunity to record this mix! Sad that summer is over, but hopefully the summer weather continues a little longer, and hopefully you'll enjoy this laidback mix. ***This is 2025, you can check out the 2026 Cottage Mix Series over on Mixcloud***Another summer long weekend, another edition of The Cottage Mix Series! Moving along the flow of a cottage weekend, we're going from the Saturday Afternoon Edition last month to the Saturday Night Edition this month! This was recorded at a yacht club season opening party, so it's probably the most mainstream / mobile dj mix you're gonna hear from me here on the Soul Shack page, very similar to what you'd hear if I was djing a wedding (which I have 5 this upcoming month!). Hope you had a great summer and hope you enjoy the continuation of the Cottage Mix series (and if you do, please share and repost for others to enjoy too!) - Bookings: jamiewichartz @ yahoo.ca- Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dj_j_me- Subscribe on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id306968245

The Cottage Mix Series continues! Moving along the flow of a cottage weekend, we're going from the Friday Night Edition last month to the Saturday Afternoon Edition this month! This was recorded at a Corporate Cocktail event back at the beginning of June, and the fresh arrival of summer weather definitely influenced the musical selections, making the recording perfect for the "fun in the sun" vibe of the Saturday Afternoon Edition! Hope your summer is going great and hope you enjoy the continuation of the Cottage Mix series (and if you do, please share and repost for others to enjoy too!)***OVER A DECADE OF SOUL SHACK MIXES ARE ARCHIVED AT WWW.MIXCLOUD.COM/SOULSHACK*** - Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dj_j_me- Bookings & Merch: jamiewichartz @ yahoo.ca- Subscribe on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id306968245

The Cottage Mix Series was back in full swing for 2025! For the Canada Day long weekend we're starting with the Friday Night Edition (same as in 2023, it's a live recording from a "Retro Attic" weekly event I filled in for, so nothing newer than 10yrs old). I've got a Saturday Afternoon edition recorded at a corporate and a Saturday night edition recorded at the RCYC season launch and just last night I recorded a "Retro 80's edition" of a Summer Home In Mykonos, so I just need to decide what mix to use for a Sunday Morning edition! So back in April of last year, when I was celebrating my 50th at Better Days, along with the "So This Is 50" mix I posted earlier, I also recorded a new bar promo mix. Here's both parts, with the 1st half starting super chill and sort of staying at more of an urban tempo and under 110bpm the whole time. Lot's of 90's throwback hip hop & rn'b, some 80's retro and a bunch of various other grooves, blends, reworks and eclectic goodness and then the 2nd half starts at mid tempo amapiano / kaytranada vibes, building to house, then closing out with throwback hip hop. Hope you enjoy this one! (And if you think your local watering hold would benefit from these vibes, tell them to book me to dj!) I'm brought back "Cottage Cocktails"! I haven't posted a Cottage Cocktails mix since 2019, but after djing an amazing cottage tent wedding last summer, I was inspired to record a cocktail mix that would be the perfect soundtrack for that cottage setting (but the couple that weekend had their own plans for cocktail music) so the following weekend I recorded this during cocktails at a wedding downtown Toronto. Recorded in the big city, but this is meant to be listened to up in Muskoka, or at the very least while floating in a pool, or perhaps just sitting around a backyard bonfire (or sipping on a coffee or tea in your favourite comfy chair). Perfect laid back vibes as we say goodbye to summer and hello to sweater weather. Hope you enjoy! Also, I'm sorry I'm so behind here on podomatic. Up to date mixes can be streamed over on mixcloud, just saying!Subscribe on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id306968245 Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dj_j_me Bookings & Merch: jamiewichartz @ yahoo.ca

The people spoke! I asked Instagram what I should post first, a house focused live recording from Beacon last month, or my eclectic 2024 Bar Promo that I recorded back at the same time as "So This Is 50", and the people wanted the Beacon mix first, so here it is! Beacon is an older crowd to begin with, and this particular night there were 2 birthday parties for women around my age, so there was plenty of retro remixes being thrown in the mix! It's a full night mix so it starts off a little more chill while dinner is ending, then picks up the energy as the night transitions from restaurant to bar. Hope you enjoy! So April 2020 at the start of Covid I got nostalgic and recorded a 90's (isolating in the) house mix. A year later Ontario was going into yet another 4 week lockdown and I got nostalgic again, posting a hip hop from my twenties mix. This year I figured I'd keep with this new tradition of nostalgia for April and am posting a Throwback rn'b mix! This mix is more mainstream than my usual more "neo soul" rn'b vibes, inspired heavily by a wedding I had recently dj'd, where the grooms wanted throwback rn'b during dinner. Hope you enjoy this timeless mix! So last April I got nostalgic and recorded a 90's (isolating in the) house mix. A year later Ontario is going into our latest 4 week lockdown and I'm getting nostalgic again, but this time for the hip hop from my twenties. There will be a second "street" edition, but part one here is (for lack of a better word) more of the "backpack" stuff. Still boom bap, but not the street, club or radio stuff... this is the jazz sampling more underground stuff. I had to put #Dilla on the artwork because his productions are all over this mix! There should have already been a second LA Edition in the books by now, but Corona Virus sort of killed those travel plans (along with the last few months of my winter Miami residency :-( So until life gets back to normal and I can make it back out west, here's the recording from a cool & foggy evening on the rooftop of the Freehand Hotel LA (Broken Shaker) back on January 24th. This was my first time playing out west and it definitely influenced some of the music selection - let me know if you pick up on any of the west coast vibes ;-)Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dj_j_meFacebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=2343903312&ref=tsSubscribe on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id306968245#chillvibes #90shiphop #90srnb #soulfulhouse #nudisco #poolsidevibes #retrovibes #80svibes #oldschool #hiphop #rnb #housemusic #loungevibes #chillbeats #djmix #musicpodcast
