Jimmy Shank (A)
2026/10/22
My interpretation of the Old Time tune &#34Jimmy Shank,&#34 in the key of A. Source is fiddler Sam Dyer (TN).
The Ocarina and the Owl

An original tune
Boston Burglar
2026/10/20
From the Harry and Jean West 1950&#39s recording. I went with an old-time style of 3-finger picking and zeroed in on his vocals for a melody. The song also goes by Louisville Burglar.
Auld Lang Syne
2026/10/11
Me playing Bill Keith&#39s great 5-string banjo version of this tune - my favorite all time 5-string banjo player whom I met and hung out with several times many years ago and even hosted him at our home once. I sure miss him and his fabulous, &#39unparalleled&#39 melodic banjo picking. RIP Bill.
La Bastringue / Greeg's Favorite (TOTW)
2026/10/10
A welcome addition to TOTW to get a tune from afar presented with lots of old history that also lends itself to learning a reel and a jig.
Greegs Favorite (solo fiddle)

Pretty Little Girl
2026/10/04
As played by the banjo of North Carolina&#39s Fred Cockerham, he of course plays it faster and with even more slides, but it&#39s as close to Round Peak as I&#39ve gotten by trying to arrange such a tune. This one has five parts!
Bug in the Taters (TOTW)
2026/09/27
The source recordings is Al Hopkins and the Buckle Busters from the 1920&#39s. It&#39s meant to be a pretty fast dance tune and has four parts.
Andy Scrimshander

An original tune
Till The End Of The World Goes Round

Lake Erie
2026/09/19
As played by Tennessee fiddler John Sharp, I wouldn&#39t have know I have Lake Erie on a CD by Bruce Molsky and Bob Carlin hiding under &#34John Sharp Medley.&#34 I&#39m one who appreciates detailed liner notes, but they weren&#39t here. So thanks to Tune of the Week and Mark Gentry this week!

Sweet Nora Lee
2026/09/12
Art Rosenbaum included Sweet Nora Lee in an album and a book subsequently tabbed. He played it in Seeger&#39s up-picking style, but I arranged it for clawhammer here. It&#39s a sweet song with some lyrics, too.
West Virginia Hornpipe
2026/09/07
Here&#39s a &#34barn burner&#34 as played by WV fiddler Clark Kessinger, but more like a rocking chair when I play it. It sure has a range, so I turned to the cello banjo and tuned it just three steps lower than standard to play an A tune out of an equivalent to double C tuning.

100? No.
Older episodes get removed when there are about 80. Other than the misleading podcast title, it's great!
