February 2, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 88 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the latest news from the weekend into the morning concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and the coaching staff that is continuing to be assembled under new HC Mike McCarthy. While only of the coaching staff hires have been made official by the team, we have more potential hirings that appear certain at this point. Because of that, Alex and I discuss the latest news concerning the potential hirings of Frank Cignetti Jr., C.J. Ah You, Danny Crossman, Mark Lovat, Grant Thorne, and Steve Scarnecchia based on the latest reports on each. After first thinking that the Steelers would be retaining DB coach Gerald Alexander, the news broke over the weekend that he is joining the Minnesota Vikings. We discuss that news in addition to AGM Andy Weidl now possibly being a Vikings GM candidate later this offseason. Scott Tolzien will officially interview for the offensive coordinator job on Monday, so Alex and I cover that morning news as well. With all of the NFL head coaching vacancies now seemingly filled, Alex and I give our opinions and rankings of each hire and landing spot. We give our thoughts on where McCarthy should rank in this year's hiring cycle. A new Hall of Fame class will be announced later this week, so Alex and I go over the latest voting controversies. We also discuss Peter King admission that he made a mistake several years ago when it came to him not voting for former Steelers S Troy Polamalu back in 2020. Only one member of the Steelers, Ben Skowronek, is participating in the annual Pro Bowl games this year so with that, Alex and I discuss the future of that event and if there are ways to make it more appetizing to watch or care about. In this Friday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and their rebuilt coaching staff that is being assembled under new HC Mike McCarthy. While none of the coaching staff hires have been made official by the team, several seem destined to happen at this point. Alex and I go over the news concerning the hirings or interviews of Lunda Wells, Scott Tolzien, Ramon Chinyoung, Adam Henry, James Campen, Jahri Evans, Jason Simmons, and Patrick Graham, who will reportedly be the team's new defensive coordinator. Alex and I also address the news that the Steelers will reportedly retain Tom Arth, Scott McCurley, and Gerald Alexander from the 2025 coaching staff. We move on to discuss the future of QB Aaron Rodgers related to numerous members of the reported new coaching staff in Pittsburgh. With Graham set to become the Steelers’ new defensive coordinator, Alex and I do a deep dive into his coaching career. In this Wednesday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers introducing Mike McCarthy as the team's new head coach during a Tuesday press conference. Alex and I parse a lot of what McCarthy had to say during his Tuesday press conference. We discuss in-depth what McCarthy had to say about QB Aaron Rodgers possibly returning in 2026 in addition to his thoughts on second-year QB Will Howard as well. We discuss whether either of us are hoping for Rodgers to return in 2026. We discuss the expected/hoped for timeline when it comes to the Rodgers' decision for 2026. Not very many current Steelers players were present for the Tuesday McCarthy press conference, so Alex and I discuss that topic a little bit during this episode as well. With Chris Shula and Nate Scheelhaase both looking like they might not land head coaching jobs this offseason, and thus staying with the Los Angeles Rams, Alex and I discuss the way that looks when it comes to Steelers deciding to bypass on both for their head coach vacancy. It sounds like the Steelers won't lose AGM Andy Weidl to the Atlanta Falcons this offseason, so Alex and I discuss that new development that happened on Tuesday. During this show, the Cleveland Browns announced that Todd Monken will be their new head coach so obviously Alex and I discuss that breaking news. We also discuss how Browns DC Jim Schwartz might not take too kindly of him being passed over for the position. Former New England Patriots HC Bill Belichick won't be a first-ballot Hall of Famer this year, so Alex and I discuss his snubbing.
