Deborah B. Goldberg is the Massachusetts State Treasurer and Receiver General. In that role she is responsible for the state’s cash and debt management, unclaimed property, and chairs state boards and commissions, including the Massachusetts School Building Authority, the Pension Reserves Investment Management Board, the State Board of Retirement, Massachusetts State Lottery Commission, and the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust. In 2015, she established the new Office of Economic Empowerment, the first of its kind in the country, and chairs its Economic Empowerment Trust Fund. Treasurer Goldberg also served as President of the National Association of State Treasurers in 2020. As a former businesswoman and local elected leader, Treasurer Goldberg brings innovative leadership, disciplined fiscal management and an unwavering commitment to uphold economic stability and create opportunity for every Massachusetts resident. Treasurer Goldberg served for six years on the Brookline Board of Selectmen, including two as its Chair. Prior to her career in public service, she worked in retail operations, buying, and consumer affairs at The Stop & Shop Companies, Inc. Treasurer Goldberg is the President Emeritus of Adoptions with Love and serves on the Advisory Board of the Greater Boston Food Bank. She was one of the founders of Berkshire Hills Music Academy, a school for individuals with intellectual disabilities, is a trustee emeritus at Beth Israel Lahey Health, and a Director at Affiliated Physicians Group / Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare. Treasurer Goldberg has been actively involved with numerous philanthropic activities, including The Grow Clinic, the 100 Club, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, and the Combined Jewish Philanthropies.

In May 2025, Marissa noticed a lump in her breast. At age 31, cancer was the last thing on her mind, but when it hadn’t gone away after a few weeks, she visited her nurse practitioner, who referred her to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s South Shore location for a mammogram. A biopsy confirmed she had invasive ductal carcinoma, a type of breast cancer. Marissa, who loves to travel, was in Canada with her sister, Annie, when she heard the news. When she got home, she met with her team at Dana-Farber, who scheduled her for a lumpectomy in September to remove the tumor. Testing after surgery revealed her cancer was estrogen-receptor positive and had a high chance of recurrence without chemo, so Marissa began a 20-week cycle of chemotherapy, followed by four weeks of radiation this spring. A high school science teacher, Marissa was devastated to learn she needed further treatment after surgery, which kept her away from the classroom for all of last year. She is excited to get back to her students this fall.

Tita was experiencing back pain during the fall of 2025. She went to the pediatrician where blood work led her to be sent for further testing at the hospital. She was ultimately diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Tita’s treatment at Dana-Farber's Jimmy Fund Clinic includes chemotherapy, which she is on track to finish in about two years. In her spare time, Tita loves singing and musical theater. She sang the National Anthem tonight.

Melissa Rocheleau, 37, breast cancer, Hanson In February 2025, Melissa, a registered nurse at South Shore Hospital, noticed a lump in her breast while showering. She waited a few days to see if anything would change, and ultimately ended up at urgent care after learning her primary care physician couldn’t see her for a few weeks. She was referred for an ultrasound and mammogram and on March 18, was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, a type of breast cancer.
