The podcast series "My Dad & the Movies" is concluding with one final episode to explore a lifetime of movies, namely Nate's lifetime and the memories and experiences he highlights with his father as they share their recollections over some of the more memorable and formative films of Nate's 42 years of life as his father's son. This one might make some people a little misty, so be prepared to feel some things. also, thank you to everyone who devoted time to listen to Nate and his father talk about their shared love of the movies and their personal history with them. It's been a pleasure, and having this record will be a blessing to revisit in the future. The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are back and tackling another anthology movie, this time the 1987 animated movie that likely introduced anime to a generation of viewers. Does it actually hold up today? Well, no.  Available on Apple and Spotify Episode 424 includes: -Trailer reactions to live-action "How to Train Your Dragon," "Dear Santa," and "Minecraft,"  plus even more election griping. -Ben says "Red One" is a mediocre mess of a bland holiday superhero movie.  -The long-awaited "Wicked" movie is a marvel and even improves on the celebrated stage show.  -The Anthologist - "Robot Carnival" (1987) -The guys discuss the 1987 collection of anime shorts and are thoroughly underwhelmed by this collection of robot-related ideas. It's more a product of its time, a sampler of what anime could be for novices, and we've moved beyond these simplistic, vibes-heavy storytelling tedium. 

"The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are once more tackling two similar movies released closely, this time the twins of 1998 college murder schemes, with the more star-studded "Dead Man on Campus" plays its premise for lackluster dark comedy, the indie noir thiller "The Curve," formerly titled "Dead Man's Curve," is an absurd movie that overdoses on twists that undo every logical aspect about the plotting, all in the name of being seen cool but failing so badly. It's a new favorite of Ben's, and maybe it will be for you too. Available on Apple and Spotify Episode 364 includes: -We've lost a key Power Ranger. It's mournin' time. -Nate shares thoughts on "The Menu," "My Son Hunter," "Black Panther 2," and "Smile." -Disney's "Strange World" is a movie best worth waiting for being on TV. -Double or Nothing -- "Dead Man on Campus" / "The Curve" -The guys discuss the two weirdly similar movies, both about schemes to get straights As by pushing a collegiate roommate to kill themself, and one of them is a middling dark comedy and the other is one of the most hilariously ridiculous examples of twist-overdose Tarantino-knockoff neo-noir that the late 90s indie scene has to offer. Ben declares "The Curve" a new addition to his favorite so-bad-it's-good movies."

"The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are celebrating Easter with a very special movie about what if Muslim terrorists went back in time to kill Jesus before he was crucified. Yes, amazingly, this movie exists, and it's "Assassin 33 A.D.," also known as "Black Easter," and the guys are discussing it along with the Asylum mockbuster "10 Million B.C." way back when Roland Emmerich's "10,000 B.C." bombed in 2008. Available on Apple and Spotify Episode 344 includes: -Ezra Miller working extra hard to not be employable. -Cronenberg is back to doing what Croneberg do. -Horror flicks "X" and "Choose or Die" are derivative but neither as good or as bad as advertised. -Switch the Pitch -- "10 Million B.C." / "Assassin 33 A.D." -One involves a science team traveling to the past with dinosaurs, the other involves a military team, and scientists, traveling back to the past to kill or save Jesus, so it's only obvious that the combined pitch would be dinosaurs trying to kill Jesus. Surprisingly, both of these schlocky movies earn some respect."

The "Dirty Sons of Pirches" are finally back with a new baby and some crushing news thanks to the 2024 election. It's times like these that we need to seek out what makes us happy, and the guys pledge to carry on. This episode examines many of the newer movies of the last cople months and selects 2024's "Kinds of Kindness," the latest Yorgos Lanthimos project, for the next anthology analysis. The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are back with a new podcast segment, this time exploring anthology movies, hich tend to be very heavy in the horror genre. The guys are tackling perhaps the best known anthology movie also based upon one of the most famous television series of all time, 1983's "Twilight Zone" movie.  Available on Apple and Spotify Episode 422 includes: -Baby arrival soon! Also, trailer reactions for "Thunderbolts," "Mickey 17," and "Ballerina." -"Uglies" is YA junk without any personality of its own that would work in a movie.  -Nate has seen the "Reagan" biopic and has some trickle down thoughts about it.  -The new "Joker" sequel seems to hold disdain for its fandom and for its own existence.  -Ben has seen francis Ford Coppola's "Megaopolis" and lives to sing of its absurdities. -The Anthologist - "Thw Twilight Zone: The Movie" (1983) -It's four segments, incluing a clunker opening, but not all segments are on the same level. The first halfof the movie is a snoozer, with the risiable decision to include John Landis' heavy-handed segment even after his production got its lead actor and two children killed through reckless negligence. The second half, however, with segments directed by Joe Dante and George Miller, are where things get much more entertaining. The guys also discuss the nature of anthology films, the history of "The Twilight Zone," and speculate what filmmakers today they would pair with remaking different classic "Twilight Zone" episodes.
