Judges: God With You
2026/09/28
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast! The story of Gideon in Judges 6 and 7 pulls us into one of the most dramatic and counterintuitive military campaigns in all of scripture, where an army of 32,000 is whittled down to just 300 before the battle even begins. The central message is not about strategy, strength, or numbers. It is about the transforming reality of God's presence.
Matthew: "Be" Attitudes
2026/09/20
Aloha and welcome to the Mission North Shore's podcast! What does it truly mean to live as a follower of Christ in a world that is often indifferent or even hostile to faith? In this message drawn from the final verses of the Beatitudes in Matthew 5, we explore three defining qualities that mark a genuine disciple: a pure heart, a peacemaking spirit, and an unshakeable faith in the face of opposition.
Exodus: The Tabernacle
2026/09/14
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast! What if everything about the way we gather, the places we worship, and the temporary nature of our surroundings is actually pointing us toward something eternal? That is exactly the thread we pull on in this message, beginning with the striking reminder that we are sojourners and strangers in this world, not settlers. Heaven is our home, and we are simply passing through. From that foundation, we are drawn into the story of the Old Testament tabernacle, a tent in the desert where God chose to dwell among his people.
Matthew: The Beatitudes Part 2
2026/09/06
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast! What does it mean to truly hunger and thirst for something? We all know that feeling of physical hunger, that primal, consuming drive that takes over our thoughts and demands to be satisfied. In this teaching drawn from Matthew 5:6, we explore what it looks like when that same intensity is directed toward righteousness and the things of God. The Sermon on the Mount was never meant to be comfortable. Jesus was deliberately flipping the values of a fallen world right side up, and this Beatitude is no exception. We are challenged to ask ourselves an honest question: do we pursue God with the same urgency and passion that we pursue food and water every single day?
Matthew: The Beatitudes
2026/08/30
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's Podcast! What does it truly mean to enter God's kingdom? The answer might surprise us, because it runs completely counter to the way our world operates. In this exploration of the opening verses of the Sermon on the Mount, we discover that Jesus begins his longest and most detailed recorded teaching not with a list of achievements or religious accomplishments, but with a radical call to humility.
1 Samuel: God's Will in God's Timing
2026/08/23
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's Podcast! What happens when we find ourselves in the middle of a trial that seems to have no end? In 1 Samuel 24, we encounter David, a man anointed to be king yet hunted like a fugitive for over eight years by the very king he was meant to succeed. This passage pulls back the curtain on one of the most tension-filled moments in David's life, and in doing so, it holds up a mirror to our own. The central lesson is one that cuts against everything our instincts tell us: God's will must be pursued in God's way and in God's timing.
Mark: Calling the 12 Disciples
2026/08/09
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast! What does it truly mean to follow Jesus? In this rich exploration of Mark chapter 3, we are drawn into the moment when Jesus deliberately chose twelve disciples and defined exactly what that calling looked like.
Samuel: Then It Happened One Evening
2026/08/03
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast! What happens when life is going well, blessings are flowing, and everything seems to be falling into place? That is precisely the moment this message asks us to pay the closest attention to. Drawing from the story of King David in 2 Samuel 5 and 11, we are walked through one of the most sobering cautionary tales in all of Scripture.
Luke: Distraction and Devotion
2026/07/20
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast!  This week we dive into Luke 10:38-42 and the familiar story of Martha and Mary, two sisters whose different responses to Jesus' presence reveal profound truths about our own spiritual lives. This message beautifully illustrates that our service to God must flow from a heart of devotion rather than obligation, and that no matter how legitimate our activities may be, they can become distractions if they draw us away from intimate fellowship with Christ.
Genesis: Christ and the Sabbath
2026/07/13
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast! From the Garden of Eden to the cross of Christ, the Sabbath points us toward God's ultimate plan for humanity. We discover that the Sabbath wasn't originally a command but a description of God's perfect rest, a rest that Adam and Eve enjoyed before the fall. We learn that Jesus didn't come to give us another religious obligation but to become our Sabbath rest Himself. Through His sacrifice, He has restored God's original intent of eternal rest in His presence.
John: The Life and Times of Jesus Messiah: Confrontation Over The Sabbath
2026/07/05
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's Podcast! Here we study three confrontations between Jesus and the religious leaders—the healing at the Pool of Bethesda, the disciples eating grain, and the man with the withered hand—and discover a consistent pattern. The Pharisees had taken God's simple command to rest on the Sabbath and twisted it into legalism with over 1,500 burdensome regulations, completely missing the point. With legalism, we are essentially putting ourselves in God's place, diminishing the power of the cross, creating divisions within the body of Christ, and worst of all, caring more about regulations than about people.
John: Do You Wish To Get Well
2026/06/29
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast! This passage from John chapter 5 takes us to the Pool of Bethesda, where we encounter a man who had been crippled for 38 years. What makes this healing particularly striking is that it was an act of pure mercy, completely independent of the man's faith. He didn't even know who Jesus was until after his healing. This challenges us to wrestle with difficult theological questions about why God heals some and not others, why some receive miracles through faith while others receive them through sheer grace. The passage reminds us that God's ways are higher than our ways, and sometimes we won't understand His purposes until we meet Him face to face.
Mark: The Life and Times of Jesus Christ The Messiah-Dinner with Sinners
2026/06/22
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's podcast! This powerful message takes us into Mark chapter 2, where we witness Jesus doing something absolutely scandalous for His time: calling a despised tax collector named Matthew to be His disciple. Tax collectors in first-century Israel were considered traitors, thieves, and outcasts, completely cut off from religious and social life. The rabbis even taught that repentance was virtually impossible for them. Yet Jesus walks right up to Matthew's tax booth, looks him in the eye, and says those same words He spoke to Peter and the other fishermen: "Follow me." Jesus once again sets the example, displaying compassion for broken people who desperately need a Savior. "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but the sinner."
Mark: The Life and Times of Jesus Messiah: Faith Through the Roof
2026/06/15
Aloha and welcome to the Mission North Shore's podcast! We read the account of four friends tearing through a roof to bring their paralyzed companion to Jesus. What unfolds is far more than just a healing story. When Jesus declares “your sins are forgiven”, He is asserting His divine authority to forgive sins. This narrative reminds us that while we often focus on our immediate circumstances—our health, finances, or relationships—our greatest need is always spiritual reconciliation with God.
Mark: The Life and Times of Jesus-Be Cleansed
2026/06/08
Aloha and welcome to The Mission North Shore's Podcast! Mark chapter 1, the cleansing of a leper. What makes this story extraordinary isn't just the physical healing, but the deep spiritual symbolism woven throughout. We discover that leprosy serves as a picture of our human condition apart from Christ - starting small but spreading relentlessly, numbing our spiritual sensitivity, isolating us from community and God, and leaving us utterly helpless without divine intervention. Just as Jesus cleansed this leper, His blood cleanses us from all sin.
