Isaiah 1:21-31 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In the first chapter of Isaiah, we encounter one of the grand literary bookends. We are introduced to the city of Jerusalem in its chaos and corruption (the sinful city). And at the end of the book of Isaiah, we’ll see the new Jerusalem and all its glory (the faithful city). These end caps of ruin and restoration frame the book and point to the miraculous work of God. He can take rebels and redeem them. Salvation truly is of the Lord. And that is our hope both now and for eternity. May the Lord show us our sin, turn us from our rebellion, and rescue us.

Isaiah 1:1-20 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In Isaiah chapter 1, the prophet gives a bleak picture of Judah’s spiritual state. They had broken the covenant and were about to face the consequences. The people were iniquitous, sinful, and rebellious at every turn. But thankfully, the Lord didn’t leave them in self-destruct mode. He graciously showed them their sin, told them the truth about it, and offered a better way. May the Lord expose areas of our lives that have diverged from his good path. And may he graciously grant us repentance so that we can enjoy the blessings he has in store for those that walk with him.

Isaiah - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Isaiah has what’s called a “theophoric” personal name. Theophoric simply means “god bearing.” The name “Isaiah” (Hebrew: yisha’yahu) means “Yahweh saves” or “salvation is of the Lord.” It’s almost as if Isaiah’s name underscores the truth we’ll been learning about this weekend. Namely, a God who saves, is a God you can trust. The question is, will you trust in him today?

Luke 7:36-50 - Speaker: Will Galkin - What is grace? Ephesians 2:8–9 tells us that we are saved by grace through faith. It is the gift of God, not the result of our works. But in Luke 7:36–50, grace is not simply stated. It is illustrated. Jesus encounters a woman known for her sin and a religious man confident in his own standing and tells a story about two debtors who share the same problem. Neither can pay. Through this encounter, we discover that grace is God canceling a debt we could never repay and, in doing so, changing what we love. Forgiveness cannot be earned through religious effort or good works. It is received through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus forgives sinners who cannot pay, and those who understand how much they have been forgiven respond with a life of love for him.

- Speaker: Lukus Counterman - This week in our series entitled What Matters to God, we will be looking at the gospel. The gospel is the good news that God loves sinners so much, he sent his Son to die for our sins and rise again to offer life to all who believe. This is a truth of “first importance,” as Paul puts it in (1Cor. 15:3). So, we can be sure that the gospel matters to God. And if it matters to God, it should matter to us.

- Speaker: Lukus Counterman - We live in an age of confusion when it comes to manhood and womanhood. Cultural narratives loudly broadcast ideas that are contrary to scripture. So, believers need to get back to the Word and find help and hope in Jesus.

- Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In a world where so many people complain about work, Christians should be different. Work isn’t a curse; it’s a gift from God designed for human flourishing. It’s a reflection of his character and meant to bring him glory. So may the Lord help us understand how much work matters. And may we be transformed into those who steadfast and always abounding in the work of the Lord.

Romans 7:1-13 - Speaker: James Lockwood - In our Summer Series called What Matters to God, we’ve been looking at selected topics and seeing what God thinks. This week, we'll examine why government matters to God. In Romans 13, Paul calls us to submit to governing authorities—not primarily for the government's sake, but because God stands over every human authority. As we study this text, may God help us recognize the importance of government, faithfully live under His sovereign rule, and fix our hope on the day when Christ will reign forever.

May the same be true of us!

- Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In a world of sexual chaos, Christians need to hear clear instructions from the Lord. Now, God isn’t against sex; he created it. Instead, he wants believers to understand that his good plan for sexual expression is within the covenant context of marriage. So, this week we’ll learn that marriage matters. And if it matters to God, it should matter to us.

Romans 6:1-4 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - In our summer series, we have been looking at things that matter to God. This week, we will look at a picture (a sign and symbol) of the gospel. God gave the picture of baptism to the church as a means of displaying the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Sinners who have been saved by Christ, identify with him in this public act. It’s one of two ordinances commanded by Jesus, taught by the apostles, and practiced by the church for nearly two millennia. Baptism matters to God, so it should matter to us.

John 15:1-17 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - We can get busy, we can become duty-driven, and we can grow dull in our walk with God. The schedule can get overcrowded such that we don't have time to pray. Scripture reading can become a discipline of checking the box for our bible-reading plan. Time with the Lord can feel -meh. But we think to ourselves, “Maybe that’s just part of life. Maybe that’s just how it is.” No, my friends! God wants us to have a deep and abiding relationship with him. He wants our walk with him to be characterized by vitality and fruitfulness. So, this weekend as we examine John 15, may the Lord impress upon our hearts the importance of a thriving relationship with him. Our spiritual relationship matters to God. And if it matters to God, it should matter to us.

Luke 6:27-36 - Speaker: Josh Lankford - The first two weeks in our "What Matters to God" series focused on topics aimed a little bit more at our thinking. We need to know that Life Matters and that the Solas Matter. But this week, we take a slight turn towards the heart and hands. This week, we will focus on how Mercy Matters to God. We need mercy spiritually, but God also wants us to extend it relationally and materially. It's not easy, but it sure does look like our Father. May God help us as we hear his Word!
