I'm Just Different | Tough Times | Twin Rivers Church
2026/08/30
Following Jesus means there will be times when your life looks different from the people around you—and that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be. You weren’t called to blend in. You were called to live differently because Christ has changed you. In 1 Peter 4, Peter challenges believers to leave their old way of living behind and pursue the will of God. He even warns that people may be surprised when you no longer participate in the same things you once did. But being different isn’t something to be ashamed of—it’s evidence that God is transforming your life. This message, “I’m Just Different,” is about embracing what it means to live set apart, refusing to compromise your convictions, and confidently following Jesus even when others don’t understand.
Difficulty in Marriage | Tough Times | Twin Rivers Church
2026/08/23
Marriage is one of God’s greatest gifts, but that doesn’t mean it will always be easy. Two people with different personalities, experiences, expectations, and perspectives learning to become one will inevitably face moments of difficulty. The question isn’t whether challenges will come—it’s how we choose to respond when they do. In 1 Peter 3, Peter gives practical instruction for relationships within marriage. He points us toward respect, understanding, honor, humility, compassion, and a commitment to respond to one another in a way that reflects Christ. A healthy marriage isn’t built by always getting your way; it’s built when both people continually choose to honor God in the way they love one another. This message, “Difficulty in Marriage,” challenges us to look beyond what our spouse needs to change and allow God to first work within our own hearts. Sometimes the greatest breakthrough in a marriage begins when we stop asking, “How can I change them?” and start asking, “God, what are You trying to change in me?”
Difficulty with Authority | Tough Times | Twin Rivers Church
2026/08/16
How do we respond when we don’t agree with the people in authority over us? Submission can be difficult—especially when we believe we know a better way. But Scripture teaches us that the way we respond to authority says something about our trust in God. In 1 Peter 2:11–13, Peter challenges believers to live differently from the world around them, maintain honorable conduct, and submit to human authority for the Lord’s sake. Biblical submission doesn’t mean blindly agreeing with everything—it means allowing our attitudes, words, and actions to reflect Christ even when submission is uncomfortable. This message, “Difficulty with Authority,” challenges us to examine how we respond to leadership, correction, rules, and decisions we don’t understand. God can use authority not only to provide order, but also to develop humility, character, and maturity within us.
It’s Difficult Being Different | Tough Times | Twin Rivers Church
2026/08/09
Following Jesus was never meant to look exactly like the world around us. Sometimes choosing to live differently can feel uncomfortable, lonely, and even difficult—but God has called His people to be set apart. In 1 Peter 1:13–16, Peter challenges believers to prepare their minds, remain spiritually alert, and refuse to return to the patterns that once defined their lives. Instead, we are called to holiness—not because we’re trying to be better than everyone else, but because we belong to a holy God. This message, “It’s Difficult Being Different,” is about having the courage to follow Jesus when culture is moving in another direction. Being different may cost you comfort, approval, or popularity, but obedience to God is always worth it.
Basics to Remember in a Bad Season | Tough Times | Twin Rivers Church
2026/08/02
What do you need to remember when life takes a bad turn? When you're walking through disappointment, pain, uncertainty, or spiritual opposition, it's easy to forget the basic truths that once kept your faith strong. In John 10:10, Jesus reminds us that while the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, He came so that we could have life to the fullest. And in 1 Peter 1:1–12, believers facing difficult circumstances are reminded that their trials are temporary, their faith is valuable, and their hope is secure because of Jesus. This message, “Basics to Remember in a Bad Way,” takes us back to the foundational truths we need when life gets hard. You may not understand everything happening around you, but you can still remember who God is, what He has promised, and where your hope comes from.
Halftime | Hervera Hambrick | Twin Rivers Church
2026/07/05
Halftime isn't the end of the game—it's the moment to pause, evaluate, refocus, and prepare for what's next. Whether you're in a season of waiting, facing unexpected setbacks, or wondering what God is doing, He often uses the "halftime" moments of life to develop your character before He reveals your calling. In Genesis 39:20–22, Joseph finds himself in prison despite his faithfulness, yet even there, God's favor remained upon him. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding. And in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, we're encouraged to allow God to sanctify every part of our lives—spirit, soul, and body—as He prepares us for His purpose. This message, “Halftime,” is a reminder that God is still working, even when life feels like it's on pause. The waiting season is often the training season.
God’s Design for Friendship | Mo Huggins | Twin Rivers Church
2026/06/28
Friendship is one of God's greatest gifts—but it was never meant to be casual or self-centered. From the beginning, God designed relationships to encourage us, challenge us, and help us become more like Christ. In John 15:12–17, Jesus redefines friendship by calling His followers friends and commanding us to love one another as He has loved us. Philippians 2:3 teaches us to value others above ourselves with humility. 1 John 3:16 reveals that true love is demonstrated through sacrifice, just as Christ laid down His life for us. And Proverbs 27:17 reminds us that "as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." This message, “God's Design for Friendship,” explores what biblical friendship looks like and how God uses healthy relationships to shape our character, strengthen our faith, and encourage us through every season of life.
It's Time to Hide | Joe Dobbins | Twin Rivers Church
2026/06/21
In a world filled with noise, distractions, and constant demands for our attention, God is calling His people back to a place that many have forgotten—the secret place. In 1 Samuel 24:1, David finds himself hidden in a cave, not realizing that God was preparing him in private for what would be revealed in public. In Psalm 143:9, David cries out, "I hide myself in You," revealing that true safety is found in God's presence. And in Matthew 6:6, Jesus teaches us to enter our room, close the door, and meet with our Father in secret, where intimacy with God is cultivated and faith is strengthened. This message, “It's Time to Hide,” is a call to step away from the crowd, silence the noise, and rediscover the life-changing power of spending time alone with God.
Preached Word | Practice Makes Perfect | Twin Rivers Church
2026/06/14
The preached Word of God is more than information—it is transformation. When God's Word is proclaimed, lives are changed, hearts are challenged, and faith is strengthened. The power isn't found in human wisdom or eloquent speech, but in the truth and authority of God's Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 2:13, Paul reminds us that spiritual truths are communicated through words taught by the Holy Spirit. In Isaiah 55:11, God promises that His Word will never return void but will accomplish everything He intends. And in James 1:22, we are challenged not just to hear the Word, but to put it into practice. This message, “Preached Word,” explores why the preaching of Scripture remains one of God's primary ways of revealing truth, building faith, and transforming lives.
Practicing Charity | Practice Makes Perfect | Twin Rivers Church
2026/06/07
Charity is more than giving—it’s a lifestyle of compassion, generosity, and seeing people the way Jesus sees them. In a world that often focuses on what we can get, God calls His people to focus on what we can give. In Matthew 25:37, Jesus teaches that when we serve those in need, we are serving Him. In Hebrews 13:2, we're reminded to show hospitality and kindness, never knowing how God may be working through those encounters. And in Matthew 19:27, Peter reminds Jesus of the sacrifices made to follow Him, revealing that a life devoted to Christ is one marked by selflessness and eternal purpose. This message, “Practicing Charity,” explores how generosity isn't just something we do occasionally—it's a spiritual practice that shapes our hearts to become more like Jesus.
