Part one of two on forgiveness and reconciliation. "By forgiving offenses is meant that we do not seek to avenge ourselves on those who offend against us, but treat them kindly, and are ready to confer upon them any benefit within our power." The definition of forgiveness came from The Catechism Explained: An Exhaustive Explanation of the Catholic Faith, by Fr. Francis Spirago, Edited by Fr. Richard Clarke, S.J. (Click HERE to read it online. The definition is at page 424). The rest of my commentary came from Moral Theology : A Complete Course Based on St. Thomas Aquinas and the Best Modern Authorities, by John A. McHugh and Charles J. Callan (Click HERE to read it online. My commentary begins at paragraph 1198).

Jesus does not seem His normal self in the Gospel today. What's going on?

NOTHING can separate us from the love of God!

It's ok, and actually good, to look a little weird if you're pursuing the kingdom of heaven.

In what way are you like the path, the stony ground, or the plant among the thorns?

Trust in God's revelation and trust in Jesus.

Love Jesus more than you love your family, and you'll be able to love your family more.
