After TBI is a podcast about life after a traumatic brain injury — helping survivors bridge the gap between survival and rebuilding life. Hosted by trial attorney, Robert Hoover, this show is a resource for TBI survivors, caregivers, and families trying to navigate the overwhelming gap between diagnosis and the long road of recovery. Each episode features honest conversations with medical experts, rehabilitation providers, advocates, caregivers, and survivors who understand what it takes to move forward after a brain injury. You’ll hear practical guidance on topics like treatment, recovery, daily functioning, long-term planning, legal navigation, and the invisible realities of living with a TBI. After TBI exists to help people feel less alone, better informed, and more equipped for what comes next. Because after a brain injury, survival is only the beginning.

002: ICU, Memory Loss, and the Long Road Back After Traumatic Brain Injury
2026/10/13
A brain injury can turn a stable life into something unrecognizable overnight. We follow the host of the show, trial attorney and father Robert Hoover, as he connects his years representing TBI survivors, his own concussion, and his son Alex’s devastating car crash. He explains how blast injuries can radically change a soldier’s behavior, why young adults face unique risks at the tail end of brain development, and what families actually see at the bedside. Listeners learn how vision, vestibular, and cognitive therapies work together, how long recovery can really take, and how steady support at home can help rebuild confidence, independence, and future plans. 001: Why We Started After TBI
2026/10/13
When someone survives a traumatic brain injury, the hardest questions may begin after the hospital doors open. For the first After TBI episode, trial attorney Robert Hoover explains why he helped create a free resource for survivors and caregivers. He shares how his son Alex was seriously injured when a truck struck the family’s car on I-70 in 2018. After two brain bleeds and a frightening hospital stay, Alex faced changes that were not always visible to others. Hoover reflects on the difference between representing clients and facing the crisis as a father, including the strain of caring for Alex while working and seeking support. He describes subtle effects of brain injury, such as memory problems, poor sleep, balance and vision difficulties, and the need for patience and supervision after discharge. Listeners hear why recovery differs and how guidance supports families. In this episode, you will hear: Alex’s 2018 highway crash, brain bleeds, and hospital stayThe difference between supporting clients and facing a TBI as a parentSubtle changes in behavior, memory, sleep, and communicationSafety concerns and caregiving after Alex returned homeThe value of early therapy, guidance, and patience during recovery Follow and Review: We’d love for you to follow us if you haven’t yet.
