Description

We exist to retrieve the Church of the past for the Church of today. So much of Church history is foreign to our modern ears - and when honest theological thinkers engage with church history, they find that there's no place for them in evangelical and protestant circles. Our mission is to provide a place for historical theological thinkers to connect and fellowship, and to encourage like-minded individuals that they don't need to leave their movements - but that they can work within them to deepen the faith of their brothers and sisters. We also want to enrich the faith of those who've never engaged in church history, and to show all faithful believers everywhere that there is a rich inheritance of biblical interpretation, theology, and discipleship available for you. You just have to retrieve it.

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Welcome to the Retrieval Podcast, a podcast on Church History where we're retrieving the Church of the past for the Church of today. Hosted by Andy Nichols, professor of Church History and Historical Theology at Ozark Christian College and Lincoln Seminary, and co-hosted and produced by Ben Jones, associate pastor at Gateway Christian Church, we explore the teachings of the ancient church, talking about how they can help us better love Jesus today. Today we dive into the Lord's Supper, and talk about how the way many protestants and evangelicals do it today is divorced from the Great Tradition. We talk about "real presence", and what that means historically. Our hope is that the Lord's Supper might means something more to you after listening to this episode. #churchhistory #communion #Eucharist
