Self-Trust Isn't Knowing You'll Get it Right
2026/10/28
You can be the person everyone counts on to make decisions, solve problems, and figure things out, yet still find yourself second-guessing the decisions you make for your own life. Why is it sometimes easier to trust ourselves with everyone else’s responsibilities than with our own desires? In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re talking about what self-trust actually looks like, especially when you’ve spent years believing you need to have everything figured out before making your next move. We’ll explore how overthinking can become a way of avoiding uncertainty, why past mistakes don’t erase your ability to make good decisions, and how the constant search for reassurance can keep you from trusting the wisdom you’ve already earned. We’ll also talk about building self-trust through small commitments, learning to make decisions without knowing exactly how they’ll turn out, and recognizing that your ability to adapt is one of your greatest assets. Your Capital Check: What am I waiting to know before I’ll allow myself to decide? Consider whether you genuinely need more information or whether you’re waiting for a level of certainty that may never come. Carry this with you: Self-trust isn’t knowing you’ll always get it right. It’s knowing you won’t abandon yourself when you don’t. Ready to explore the deeper work? My Capital Gains Breakthrough Day is a private, one-on-one experience designed to help you recognize the beliefs and subconscious patterns influencing your decisions, reconnect with who you are, and grow into your true identity. I’ve experienced this work myself, and I know how meaningful it can be to recognize patterns you’ve carried for years without realizing how much they’ve influenced your life. What If Your Next Level Isn't Bigger?
2026/10/21
Episode 9: What If Your Next Level Isn’t Bigger? We’ve been conditioned to believe that growth means more. More responsibility, more accomplishments, more opportunities, and bigger goals. But what happens when you’ve already spent decades building a successful life and start questioning whether bigger is actually better? In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re exploring what it means to redefine growth, recognize where your time and energy are being invested, and become more intentional about the opportunities you pursue. We’ll talk about the importance of recognizing your accomplishments as proof of your capability, identifying the places where you’re leaking valuable capital, and why sometimes the greatest growth comes from going deeper rather than adding more. Your Capital Check: When I say I want more, what do I actually mean? And perhaps more importantly: What would my next level look like if it didn’t have to impress anybody? Carry this with you: You don’t have to stop being ambitious. You get to decide what your ambition is working toward. Your next level doesn’t automatically have to be bigger. It needs to be yours. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. Let’s talk about the rest. Website: www.tamikomcgurk.com Connect on IG HERE
You Don't Need to Find Yourself. You Need to Hear Yourself Again
2026/10/14
Maybe you aren’t lost. Maybe your own voice has just gotten harder to hear underneath everyone else’s needs, opinions, expectations, and advice. In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re talking about what happens when you’ve spent so much time considering everyone else that you start second-guessing what you actually want. We’ll get into the difference between needing more clarity and learning to trust what you’re already hearing, why your first instinct deserves a little more airtime, and how small decisions can begin rebuilding self-trust. Your Capital Check: What have I been wanting that I keep talking myself out of? You don’t need to immediately justify it, make a plan, or ask anyone else what they think. Just give yourself permission to hear the answer. Carry this with you: You aren’t lost. Maybe you’re just underneath a lot of noise. Every time you honor your own voice, you’re building self-trust. And self-trust is capital. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. Let’s talk about the rest. Website: www.tamikomcgurk.com Connect on IG HERE
What We Found When We Turned The Work On Ourselves
2026/10/07
What happens when the people who are used to helping others grow turn the work back on themselves? In this episode of In the Weeds with T, I’m joined by four fellow NLP Master Practitioners and one NLP Trainer as we wrap up a week-long immersion together. We talk about the patterns and beliefs we uncovered, the moments that surprised us, what we learned from watching each other do the work, and what we’re taking home with us. This isn’t a lesson on NLP. It’s a conversation about what can happen when you become willing to look at yourself a little differently. Success is only part of the story. Let’s talk about the rest. The Beliefs Running Your Life That You Never Choose
2026/09/30
Have you ever known better and still found yourself doing the same damn thing? Sometimes the issue isn’t that we need more information, more discipline, or another strategy. Sometimes there’s something happening underneath what we consciously know. In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re getting into the beliefs, associations, and patterns that can influence the way we move through our lives without us even realizing they’re there. We’ll talk about how experiences shape the meaning we make, why our brains become very good at finding evidence for what we already believe, and how a conclusion formed years ago can still be getting a vote in decisions we’re making today. Limiting beliefs don’t always create lives that look unsuccessful. Sometimes they create incredibly successful women. Perfectionism can produce achievement. Fear of disappointing people can make you incredibly dependable. The need to prove yourself can build an impressive résumé. Those patterns may have helped get you here. The question is whether you still want them driving where you go next. Your Capital Check: Think about something you want to do and finish this sentence: “I would do it, but…” Then ask yourself: Is this a fact, or is this a belief? Where did I learn it? Do I still want it making decisions for me? You can’t question a belief you don’t realize you’re carrying. Carry this with you: A thought can feel completely true and still deserve to be questioned. Once you can see the beliefs and patterns influencing your choices, you get to decide whether they still get a vote. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. What Are You Carrying That You Don't Want Your Daughters to Inherit?
2026/09/26
We inherit more than eye color, family traditions, and last names. Sometimes what gets passed from one generation of women to the next is much quieter: the expectations we carry, the sacrifices we normalize, the ways we put ourselves last, and our ideas about what it means to be a “good” woman. In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re talking about the patterns we may have inherited from the women who came before us and the ones we may be unintentionally passing on to the women coming behind us because our lives are teaching even when our mouths aren’t. This isn’t about blaming our mothers or rejecting the strength of the generations before us. We can be deeply grateful for what they gave us while still deciding that some things don’t need to keep traveling through the family line. We can honor their strength without believing we have to repeat every sacrifice they made. Your Capital Check: What am I carrying that I don’t want the women coming behind me to inherit? Then ask: What would it look like for this to begin changing with me? Maybe legacy isn’t giving our daughters a blueprint for exactly how to live. Maybe it’s giving them permission. Permission to have another chapter. To be a beginner. To want something different. To build a life that belongs to them. Carry this with you: Inheritance isn’t destiny. Some things were passed to us. That doesn’t mean they have to be passed through us. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. Let’s talk about the rest. Website: www.tamikomcgurk.com Connect on IG HERE
What If You Started Seeing Yourself as Your Greatest Investment?
2026/09/26
We’re really good at investing in things we believe will matter later. Our careers. Our families. Our businesses. Our homes. Our financial futures. But what happens when the woman responsible for building all of it keeps getting pushed further down the investment list? In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re expanding the definition of wealth and talking about what it means to see yourself as an asset worth investing in because your life is affected by the condition of the woman living it. We’ll talk about the different forms of capital we carry, why investing in yourself doesn’t always need to make you more productive or useful to someone else, and why the return on an investment isn’t always something you can measure on a spreadsheet. Sometimes the return is simply being able to say: I know who I was before I did it. And I know who I am now. Your Capital Check: Where in my life am I expecting a return without making an investment? Then ask yourself: What deposit could I make there this week? Your time, energy, health, relationships, growth, joy, and dreams are part of your portfolio too. Carry this with you: You are allowed to be one of the things you’re building.  You are not an expense that needs to be justified. You are an investment. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. Let’s talk about the rest. Website: www.tamikomcgurk.com Connect on IG HERE
The Difference Between "I Can" and "I Should"
2026/09/26
Being capable is a strength. But somewhere along the way, I can handle it can quietly turn into I should handle it. And those are two very different things. In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re talking about what happens when being the capable one becomes an expectation, both from the people around us and from ourselves. I don’t believe your capability is something you need to fix. Being dependable, resourceful, and able to figure things out has probably helped you build much of the life you have today. But just because you can carry something doesn’t mean it belongs to you. We’ll talk about recognizing what’s actually yours to carry, allowing other people to develop their own capability, and why an open hour on your calendar doesn’t automatically mean you’re available. Your Capital Check: Ask yourself three questions: 1. Can I? Probably. 2. Should I? 3. Is this actually mine? Your time, energy, and capability are valuable forms of capital. You get to decide where they’re invested. Carry this with you: Your capability has already been proven. You don’t have to keep proving it by carrying everything you possibly can. Sometimes owning your authority means stepping up and sometimes it means looking at something you absolutely could handle and deciding: This one isn’t mine. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. Who Are You When Nobody Needs Anything From You?
2026/09/26
For a lot of capable women, being needed can feel a lot like being valued. You become the one people call. The one who figures it out. The one who remembers, organizes, fixes, helps, carries, and makes sure everyone else is okay. And after years of being that woman, it can be surprisingly difficult to answer a simple question: Who am I when nobody needs anything from me? In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re talking about the difference between being needed and being valuable, and how easily our usefulness can become tangled up with our identity. I share why I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with being dependable, capable, or someone others can count on. Those are strengths. But when being useful becomes proof of our worth, we can lose sight of the woman underneath everything she does for everyone else. We’ll also look at the ways our constant helping can unintentionally teach the people around us that we’ll always do the carrying, and what it might look like to begin creating space for ourselves without abandoning the people we love. Your Capital Check for this episode: Where are you using your usefulness to prove your value? Then ask yourself: If I didn’t have to be useful here, who would I get to be instead? Your value doesn’t begin when someone needs you, and it doesn’t disappear when they don’t. Carry this with you: You are more than the problems you solve for other people. There’s a woman underneath all those roles and responsibilities who is still valuable, interesting, and worthy of investment. Maybe it’s time you got to know her. Thanks for getting in the weeds with me. I’ll meet you back here next week. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. Let’s talk about the rest. Success is Only Part of the Story
2026/09/26
What if the life you worked so hard to build is good, but somewhere along the way, you stopped including yourself in the investment? In the first episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re talking about the version of success many of us were taught to pursue: build the career, take care of the family, be responsible, keep achieving, and hold it all together. There’s nothing wrong with wanting those things. But maybe our definition of success was never wrong. Maybe it was incomplete. We’ll get into what happens when you’ve checked many of the boxes and still find yourself wanting more of you back, why wanting something different doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful for the life you’ve built, and why your next chapter doesn’t necessarily require tearing everything down. Your Capital Check: Where in your life are you investing in everything except yourself? Carry this with you: You don’t have to tear down the life you’ve built to become more invested in the woman living it. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. Let’s talk about the rest. Paste that into Episode Description. Then tell me what the next box or setting underneath it says, and we’ll keep going one step at a time.
