Culturally and spiritually, as a means to adapt and survive, we harden our external selves and hide away the intimate and unsightly parts of our lives. But Christ loves us too much to leave us there. He is the way to a pure heart.

As those who have received an inconceivable mercy, we seek to mirror Christ in the pouring out of mercy to others. We move towards others’ brokenness, pain, and debt, making it our own. Mercy is costly. Mercy multiplies. Mercy matters.

Admiring a menu does not satisfy our hunger. While spiritual interest tends to remain theoretical, spiritual hunger draws us toward Jesus in actual dependence. As those hungry and thirsty, we desire for God to make right what we cannot on our own.

We often associate “meekness” with “weakness.” But Christ is the picture of the Beatitudes and the image of the invisible God. Christ described Himself as “gentle and lowly.” He had perfect strength under perfect control. May we become like Jesus in His humility.

We tend to treat our sorrow as something to be silenced and others’ grief as a threat to our comfort. If we numb ourselves from the pain of life, we have not saved ourselves from grief, but robbed ourselves of true joy. Jesus has a better way for us.

The Christian life is not us moving up and to the right, but rather a series of peaks and valleys, ever progressing us forward on the long journey home to God. The first beatitude in Scripture is the doorway to the kingdom. We do not enter by any other way than moral bankruptcy. We enter with not...

At the pace we run, it is easy to pass by and forget all that our God is doing around the world and right here in Flower Mound, Texas. We bless God for the forgiveness of sins, the healing of diseases, the redemption of stories, and the hearing and answering of our prayers!

Whether rich or poor, sick or healthy, well-to-do or the lowest social class—where there were people, the heart of Jesus was there. Wherever there was human life, Jesus approached those towns, villages, and alleys of destitution with the visceral, overwhelming love of a brother.

The gospel, with all its good news, revelations, and illumination, is not simply the door we walk through—it is the whole house. For the believer, it is where we spend the entirety of our days on this side of salvation. In the majority of moments where the gospel is preached in the Bible, the aud...

We must not be like those who have received the gospel but don't want to be inconvenienced with suffering or costly discipleship—resistant to obedience. We embrace discipline knowing it rarely feels like a burden when we are in love.

We often look to others and their giftings and compare them to the ways God has wired us. We question our purpose and wonder if this is all there is. But the body can only function with a diverse variety of parts. God uniquely wired each of us, and the more complacent we are in our giftings, the ...

Jesus makes the invisible God visible. He ranks above all creation, and no one is like Him. All things have been created through Christ and for Christ. He sustains us and holds it all together. He has you in His hands.

While the world offers disintegration, Jesus Christ provides soul-level integration. So we look to Him, and we labor to see Him rightly. We behold Christ in His glory, seeking to grow more like Him and to gather together those who need Him.

We belong to a vast, intricate web of discipleship. Today, we walk in faith because other believers were faithful in their day to disciple others. So we too press on, growing in maturity and grace while carrying on the legacy of discipling others.

The kingdom of God does not advance through programs, but people. The priority and the focus of the Church today is to make disciples of Jesus. There is a litany of good and right things in the world to take part in and give our attention to, but the primary role of the follower of Jesus is to ma...
