She's Moving To Portugal To Open A Pottery Business | Nicole Curcio | Episode 1002
2024/02/15
Nicole Curcio is a ceramic artist living in Portland, Oregon but moving to Portugal this year. She discovered ceramics in 1994, in a high school class, and it was love at first clay. Over the years her work has shifted from painted, abstract cityscapes, to a more sculptural and botanical style. She enjoys combining functional wheel thrown wares, with ornate sculptural adornments. Her love of plants and growing things has inspired her current body of work, although her obsession with plants and planters can be traced back to her college sketchbooks. The work is always evolving but the pots she makes are decorative and very, very functional. http://ThePottersCast.com/1002

1,000 Episodes!!! | The Potters Cast | Episode 1000
2024/02/01
1,000 episodes! When The Potters Cast first started I had no idea that we would ever get to this many episodes. But here we are... episode number 1,000. And there is nothing but thanks in my heart for all the love and support. In celebration we are doing two things... First my wife, Jennifer and I jumped on a couple of mics and Jennifer interviewed me. So I'll put a of pic of my work in the show notes. The second thing we did was that we asked people to record a message for The Potters Cast. So on the show notes page I included links to their IG accounts (the ones that I could find) and picture of their work. A huge thank you to all of you for being a part of this incredible journey. Lots of love to you. http://ThePottersCast.com/1000

An Actor Turned Potter | Lesley Bevan | Episode 994

Lesley Bevan is an artist and voice over actor currently living in Chicago, IL. Lesley received a BS in Performance Studies from Northwestern University and enjoyed a career in theatre, TV and film, regionally and internationally, for over 20 years. Lesley took her first pottery class in 1999, while a resident actor at the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. For years Lesley chased two passions, clay by day and theatre by night, sometimes smuggling work into her dressing room to slip-trail pots during intermission. Lesley clearly remembers the matinee when she found herself onstage performing Lady MacBeth’s “Out Damned Spot” speech in front of an audience of 500 people while simultaneously working out the design for a new mug in her head. It was a moment of clarity. By 2015, Leslie had committed to a full time career in clay. Today, Lesley is a studio artist at Lillstreet Art Center, where she creates her own work and fires the soda kiln for a robust soda firing program. http://ThePottersCast.com/994
