I wove a bird's eye twill which falls in the Diaper category. Halfway done with fringe. Hard to find time  to work on the blanket. The fringe maker I ordered is a life saver! I still need to wash. Garden Cardigan by AnkeStrick. Using Kelbourne Woolens Scout in the colorway Moss Heather. Complete back to armholes. Picked up stitches for right front. Spindrift Shawl by Helen Stewart. Using by handspun from a braid by Alexandra Art of Yarn Socks: Using Madeline Tosh sock in the colorway Plum Tree. Finished first sock and cast on second. Garden Redesign: I've created a project page. More plants and "finalize' design fence on deck and railing Kelly's Projects Corrie x BL fleece leftovers are finished. I have big chunky puffy yarn! And that fleece from 2016 is now totally removed from my inventory!  The red-orange poppy colored Boxy sweater has a finished body. I'm finishing up the ribbing at the bottom, doing a split hem in 1x1 broken rib. Naturally dyed blanket warp is on the loom and ready to thread. I'm doing twill.  Planning for Alice Jacket hit a snag. I think I might buy yarn for the main color since I didn't have enough of any one color for the main color. I finished making the fringe, wove in the ends and corrected a few mistakes. I used a plastic storage bin filled with hot water and Dawn and then climbed in and stomped on it like grapes, then rinsed and dried. I did this twice to get the fulling I liked. When the blanket was dry I then brushed with a stiff brush. Surprising how much effort it took to full the blanket. Can't do that with merino sweaters! Patio Furniture Pads: I've sanded, primed and applied three coats of paint. The paint is really hard to use and get a smooth finish. Coverage is terrible. I was trying to get the chairs done before the garden party but gave up…not enough time and I had to pick my battles. I'm not happy with the paint finish so decided to take a break and figure out what is best to do. Weaving Studio: It's a work in progress.  Garden Redesign: I've created a project page. More plants and "finalize' design fence on deck and railing Cold Cucumber Soup Recipe says to use Persian cucumbers but I substituted cucumbers from my garden.   Kelly's Projects Finished the second round of merino silk batts that we carded right before NoCKRs. The second batch turned out to be 377 grams (13 ounces). Total of all the merino/silk batts is 715 g (25.2 ounces or 1 lb, 9.2 ounces). I still have the rest of the fleece washed and uncarded, but that's another project.  Finished a bobbin of camel silk that will be one ply of a future yarn.  Finished charity hat #7 for the year. It's made with fingering held double and I did two purl bump spirals around the hat. I started it just before the trip and finished it before arriving home.  Finished the Sidewalk Loom refurbishing project!  Finished my Newbury Singles Blanket! Woven during the first week's class. Then fixed some errors, wove in ends, twisted fringe, then fulled and brushed it.  Finished my Dimity and Newbury fabric. Woven during the second week's class. I fixed a few of the errors, wove in the ends and fulled it. I didn't do any brushing on this one.  Made a lot of progress on the red-orange poppy colored Boxy sweater made with spirit yarn (Shibui Pebble). I have about 10 inches knit down from the armholes. Knit on it all during our long trip home from VT and part of the trip there.  I've carded and started spinning the East Friesian fleece portion. This batch of that fleece will be singles for a blanket or two.  Started a test project on the sidewalk loom. Marsha's Projects Compass Moon Creations: Finished! About 500 yards of about DK or worsted from 10 ounces of merino in a blue/green. Realized that when pulling from inside and outside, one single ends up with more twist. Harder to spin. Sheridan Flats Spinning: Finished! Purchased 24 oz of 80/15/6 wool/mohair/silk roving in the colorway Kaleidoscope. The owner said to spin at a worsted weight for best results. Mill is Olympic Yarn & Fiber located in Cosmopolis, WA. I was really surprised that I ended up with only about 650 yards of worsted weight yarn. I overplied the first skein but ran it through my wheel and took out a lot of the twist. Robert thought I might get green with tomato leaves and wanted me to try. I used alum mordant on some of my white Shetland that I've been natural dyeing. Got a very dirty looking light grey beige . Merino, silk, and flax palate cleanser skein. Hipstrings fiber, Alpine Spring colorway. About worsted to aran weight. Spun the box of merino silk batts that we carded right before NoCKRs. I didn't quite get three bobbins so I picked and carded more merino and I'm making more merino silk batts.  Fleece washing continues. Here's a summary of the survey comments on how knitters use patterns and track their progress: People have a preference for paper but lots use digital tools. A recurring theme was the desire to keep knitting as an analog, screen-free hobby. There are lots of creative tools for counting rows. People use highlighter tape, rulers, sticky notes, hand-drawn grid boxes, safety pin chains, a 10-sided die, and even moving a stitch marker along keyboard number keys. We also seem to realize that our systems are imperfect. We don't keep enough or the right kind of notes. We have unsorted stacks of printed patterns, notes we struggle to decode later, or no real system at all. Ravelry is a partial solution to this but doesn't work for everyone.  Color Work Along Prizes Listen to the episode to see if you are a winner! I have two wooden folding chairs that belonged to my parents. I plan to paint in the same dark green as the table and chairs and recover in the large yellow and white striped fabric. Also have materials to make cushions for chairs. Sewing Class: Attended part two. Garden Redesign: I've created a project page. Kelly's Projects Continuing on my second Boxy with spirit yarn (Shibui Pebble). I have the fronts redone and connected. I'm just knitting stockinette for several inches before I join the front and back under the arms.  Tablet (card) weaving for Pride Month: This band will become a dog collar and two key chains for my sisters-in-law.  Continuing with spinning the naturally dyed wool from last fall: Dyed the last batches of the CA Red fleece with fig leaves and with ceanothus leaves trying to get a green. The fig gave a slightly green tinted yellow. I had used this before on a skein of polwarth but even quadrupling the grams of fig leaves didn't make the color more saturated. The ceanothus ended up giving another tan color. Natural dyeing can be disappointing.  Fleece washing: About 2 lbs of Corriedale came out of the suint bath and is ready for a hot wash. About 3.5 lbs of light silver Romney went into the suint bath and has been there for about a week. I also spent a day washing about 3 lbs of Jazzman that had come out of the suint bath. There was a white section, a light gray section, and a darker gray section. Sewing class: I took the first of a two part class on learning about your machine and Quality Sewing and Vacuum. Very good class and it is free! I have 12 ounces of 3-ply yarn that still needs to be washed. I'm guessing sport to DK weight once it is washed. I worked on my second Boxy with spirit yarn (Shibui Pebble). I have the fronts redone and connected. I'm just knitting stockinette for several inches before I join the front and back under the arms.  Finished three more hats from destash. That puts me at five hats from NoCKRs destash room yarn plus the one I did with the leftover red from my shawl in February.  Tablet (card) weaving: Before the class I watched John Mullarkey's video on warping the inkle loom for card weaving. I wanted to make sure that I was familiar with the inkle loom that I borrowed so I used his video instructions to warp up a band using the Oseberg pattern from Weave Along with Elewys. In class we made two additional bands–one with a threaded-in technique and one using a warp. I immediately threaded another warp on the day that I came home.  Continuing with the natural dyeing from last fall: I needed to clean up. The dyed fleeces were spread out over the lab tables in the garage. So I started carding. I finished about 100 g of the CA Red fleece dyed with short-steeped toyon (yellow) and then I spun the fleece dyed with tan oak and spun it up (45 g, 2-ply, pinkish beige). I'm now carding the Shetland dyed with long-steeped toyon leaves (pale orange). Kelly's Projects I finished the Study Hall Shawl by Sarah Schira. It still needs to be blocked. It was a fun mosaic pattern. I had a lot of the red left over so I made the first charity hat of 2026. Used the fingering yarn held double. Donated it during our March heat wave and yet gone in less than a day. So satisfying! I finished the chenille rugs by the weave along deadline. Still working on the Seatoller Socks by Louise Tillbrook. I'm on the gusset of the first sock. One cable stops at the heel and the other carries down the outer side of the top of the foot.  Started my second Color Work Knit-a-long project. German Shepherd Hat by Teresa Cremers. I only used the pattern for the motif and I reworked it a bit to make the tail longer and lower. I had to swatch in order to get the numbers for my fingering yarn. I've finished with the hemmed brim and the dog motifs and now need to add some paws or dog bones for the crown motifs. I have about an inch or so before I start the decreases.  I started spinning Ernest, a dark brown merino fleece from 2017 with silk carded in. This first batch is from the first batch I washed and there are some little felted bits in it. But it's still a gorgeous spin. Looking forward to carding and spinning some of the better parts of this fleece if the worst of it is this nice.  My knitting belt arrived. I ordered it from BobnWeave on Etsy. I haven't used it yet since it just arrived. But I'm looking forward to practicing on it and then knitting the Acht hat.  Colorwork Knit-a-long March - June 1st. Mill is Olympic Yarn & Fiber located in Cosmopolis, WA. Plied three singles but somehow I over plied it.   Rag Rugs: Wound warp for four rag rugs and started warping loom. Warp is 4" and 6" stripes in royal blue, green, and orange. I finished the first two rugs. During Kelly's visit she suggested retying the treadles to weave a twill. She wove the first half of the third rug. I have cut the strips for the fourth and final rug. I still need to weave it though! Weaving Studio: It's a work in progress.  Garden Redesign: I've created a project page. Kelly's Projects Finished the Romney x Rambouillet that came from the NoCKRs destash. About a pound of roving. Six skeins but I don't know how many yards.  Restarted the Seatoller Socks by Louise Tillbrook. It's a twisted rib and cabled sock pattern so I needed a bigger size. Norwegian red resistance hat from WWII. Royal Bee DK weight. Made one according to the pattern  and it's a bit small. Made the second with additional stitches cast on and longer ribbing section. That worked well. Finished a third that is between the two sizes I've already made. The whole skein used! New Project! We welcome experienced crankers, beginners, and those who are just considering getting started with circular sock machines. On the forum there is a FAQ and Registration Form for those who are interested. We would like to make this a yearly event. I'm doing the last topping up of bobbins before I finish the plying.  Need to frog and restart the Seatoller Socks by Louise Tillbrook. It's a twisted rib and cabled sock pattern so it is coming out a little tighter than my usual sock gauge.  Norwegian red resistance hat from WWII. I'm using Royal Bee DK weight. Made one according to the pattern  and it's a bit small. Made the second with additional stitches cast on and longer ribbing section. That worked well. Have a third on the needles that is between the two sizes I've already made. Last year's first episode was Dreaming about Chenille Rugs!  Finished all but the edging of my Sleeveless Vest. I got stalled due to having to pick up stitches around the arms and neck. There really is very little left to go on this project and it will be perfect for work. Lots of spinning! First FO of 2026 is the Combed CVM. I got 224 grams of a fingering weight 3-ply. The spinning was so nice! It was worth the effort to do that combing. That isn't quite the end of the fleece, but it might be the end of the work I do with that fleece. In total I ended up with just over 2 lbs of yarn between this project and the skeins I made from the Carded CVM. I'm also spinning about a lb of Romney x Ramboullet that came from the NoCKRs destash. It's a 3 ply that I hope will be about a worsted weight after washing. I have the first batch plied, but quite a bit left to spin.  Also working on Seatoller Socks by Louise Tillbrook. Novus Knit Pouch I will be in Oaxaca, Mexico on a fiber tour called Color Explosion of Oaxacan Culture and Folk Artists with Rowan Tree Travel. Kelly's Projects Chenille Rugs Part 2 Finished tying on the warp and started weaving the second pad of chenille . Planning for two rugs again.  Continuing my Sleeveless Vest by Lone Kjeldsen with handspun from Jazzman's " perfect fleece." Started the front yoke but haven't gotten to the horizontal stitch yet.  Three more hats finished. The mostly handspun one went to my niece's boyfriend for Christmas. The other is a charity hat. The third is still on the needles and is also made of handspun. A darker BFL that was overdyed blue, red, and yellow. Can't recall the dyer, but I bought the braid at the Stitches in Sacramento.  Winter Weave-a-long Now through March 31 Home-A-Long Ends December 31st.

Thanksgiving finds us recording live and unedited in Salinas. It was a low key holiday with lots of food and family, but no hysteria. It's Kelly's favorite holiday. We cooked, we laughed, we knit, we spun, and we were able to get a podcast recorded. We recorded in the dining room so there is some echo-y sound, along with dog and family background noise. They are pretty different from one end to the other. More different than the other two pads were. Next up is warping for another pad so I can get two rugs again.  Continuing my Sleeveless Vest by Lone Kjeldsen with handspun from Jazzman's " perfect fleece." I've done the horizontal stitch at the back yoke so not that much further on this week. Charity Hats 11 and 12: This isn't spirit yarn, it's the leftover handspun from the boxy sweater. Knitting it held double. 11 is done, working on 12. Both plain beanies.  Natural Dyeing Experiments I have three bobbins of CA Red fiber dyed with long steeped toyon.  Holiday Shopping List Opportunity: I got an email from Abundant Earth Fiber that they are having a holiday sale on their dye kits. These aren't natural dyes, they are acid dyes, but a fun way to get started if you don't have the separate dye equipment but want to dye with more than KoolAid. Maiwa has a similar kit for natural dyes that is also on sale this week. I've been having fun seeing what I can get from my local area, but this looks fun. Decided to resley the 8/4 cotton warp to a denser sett (10 epi) and see how it works for a dish towel.  Natural Dyeing Experiments I started spinning the orange CA Red fiber dyed with toyon that had been steeped for 24 hours. Two bobbins are full. I plan to ply from a center pull ball when I'm finished with this spinning.  Chenille Rugs Part 2 Wound the warp and sleyed the reed.  Continuing my Sleeveless Vest by Lone Kjeldsen with handspun from Jazzman, "Judith says perfect fleece." I am nearing the bottom of the armhole.
