Easy As 1-2-3-4? - 2026 MotoGP Indonesian Grand Prix
2026/10/16
So you mean to tell me that MotoGP saw Aprilia have a 1-2-3-4 lockout of its Grand Prix, and yet arguably made their World Championship situation worse? Oh boy. It turns out it kinda did end up that way? In Indonesia, the story of the weekend started on Saturday when a four wide between Fernandez, Bezzecchi, Marquez and Diggia ended up with Martin going from 5th to 1st, Marquez going to second, and Fernandez and Bezzecchi took themselves out of action in a chain reaction. But with Jorge Martin triggering his tyre pressure warning system, he had to cough up a Sprint win and ultimately finished four, giving Marquez an easy Sprint win in Mandalika. Martin came back to finish 3rd in the GP was Bez won his first GP in 133 days, but with Marquez 6th, the Championship gap is STILL just 2 points with five races to go. Did Aprilia fumble the bag? Do they need team orders? And has this handed the advantage back to Marc Marquez?  There's also a rant about the terrible state of Michelin tyres as Mandalika forced the final appearance of the heat-protected carcass rear that's been the bain of the sport for half a decade. Oh, and is fining riders for missing promotional events a good thing?
Tenth Times The Charm - 2026 F1 Singapore GP Review
2026/10/15
Hard to believe that this was ther 10th time Max Verstappen has tried and he's now finally won the Singapore Grand Prix. And he did it with a Sprint win in what was a dominant weekend, but with a few twists thrown in for s***s and giggles. We had George Russell briefly lead said Sprint after another half an hour torrential downpour - Nature of having two races in two weeks around the equator. So of course, Russell stacked it a lap in. We also had Ferrari get in the mix, but a radio blackout and some miscommunications cost them a likely double podium finish. We also had the McLaren's hit each other in the Sprint's final lap too. Overall, this was a messy, messy race weekend. And we haven't even discussed the new news of the week - F1's returning to Africa for the first time since Kyalami in 1993. We're going to Rwanda for the African Grand Prix, sometime in the early 2030's. But there's some problematic questions that need answering with it...
A Two-Horse Race? 2026 MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix Review
2026/10/10
It's quickly becoming a two-horse race in MotoGP land as Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin threw down at Motegi for the Japanese Grand Prix, and this time it was Marquez that came out on top as he took his fifth Double Victory of the 2026 season and move to within two points of the Championship lead. But how we got there messy as yet more Michelin tyre drama got in the way.  This time around, Michelin brought the stiffer carcass rear tyre as a reserve, that ultimately ended up being the main race tyre after multiple rear tyres started failing towards the end of the Sprint. And turns out, it was the best race tyre of the weekend too. Dre, RJ and Cam break it all down. They also talk about the surprise performances of Enea Bastianini and Somkiat Chantra, as well as the first reaction to the big news of the day, as MotoGP announced a new weekend format, with less practice, and Sprint Qualifying introduced on a Friday. Will it work in the long run?
Engine Blowouts - 2026 Bahrain GP in Malaysia Review
2026/10/09
Well, this was a messy mothertrucker and a half wasn't it? Formula 1 went all in for a return to Sepang for the first Grand Prix in Malaysia since 2017, even with all the Bahrain branding, Gulf Air sponsorship and even 500 Bahraini marshals flown in for the occasion. Weird. And it took us 105 minutes to get this race going after a torrential downpour on Sunday, followed by an embarassing engine software bug that led to the FIA scrambling to fix themselves after their own regulations pigeon-holed's the cars. A genuinely good return to Malaysia, tainted by yet another c**k-up by a sport whose power-units are clearly too complicated to function as is. Anyway, Max Verstappen completely dominated the outlier weekend that was, to take his streak of winning seasons up to 11 and score his 72nd win for Red Bull, now the second most of any driver/team combination ever (Only Hamilton's 84 with Mercedes is greater). We talk how he did, how George Russell's late engine blowout effectively ends the title fight, and how Hamilton had to charge through the field on slicks on a damp track just to get back where he started (in spectacular fashion).  Also in the news, more talk about Esteban Ocon leaving Haas at the end of the season for Rafa Camara, and James Vowles at Williams plan to try and update the cost cap.
Shark Week - 2026 MotoGP Austrian GP Catchup
2026/10/01
We're really sorry this episode came out later than billed, we had a medical emergency at our original recording date and we doubled this up on Sunday with our Baku recording instead. We'll make it up to you down the toad, promise.  In the meantime, in this episode, we catchup on the Austrian Grand Prix as Pedro Acosta finally takes his maiden victory, after 56 starts and 15 times on the second of third step of the podium. We breakdown how Michelin bringing its stiffer carcass rear tyre finally allowed KTM to bridge the gap to the Aprilia and Ducati's, and how nervous we all were when Pedro crashed out from an easy Sprint win. We talk more about the state of the title battle, and the fascinating place its in. Marquez loses 12 points to Jorge Martin, who took the Sprint and second in the GP after a front brake issue hampered Marquez to fifth. Who is favoured going into the flyaway stretch? Who else could potentially play spoiler with Ai Ogura back to good health and Marco Bezzecchi not out of the running at 42 points back. Could Pedro still limp his way back in too? Also we chat about Yamaha's new nadir after another horrendous weekend, and the potential change to the weekend format. Is Sprint Qualifying coming to MotoGP next year?
Ultimate Russell - 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix Review
2026/09/29
Welcome to Azerbaijan on a Saturday, George Russell and the most dominant photo finish of all-time. But in all seriousness, Baku had George take off his belt and beat the field's ass with it. He was just one FP3 top away from F1's first perfect weekend since Italy 2015. And yet despite all that, due to a late Valtteri Bottas crash on the final lap, he won by just 20 metres from Max Verstappen's furious final attack on the Brit. Dre, Cam and RJ make sense of all the action, including how Mercedes' deployment is dunking on the field, how Ferrari continue to malaise, and how Franco Colapinto pissed off everyone with a reckless crash on a Safety Car restart that essentially ended Lando Norris' slim chances of a Championship. Sure the Colapinto fanbase will take it well... We also talk about the first draft of the 2030 engine regulations and why we're all kinda whelmed at going to V8 Hybrids with a 3 litre engine.
#687: Oh, Bez?! - 2026 MotoGP San Marino GP Review
2026/09/19
Why not, Bez? This is why. Dre and Cam review a heated San Marino Grand Prix with a major twist in the title race - Marco Bezzecchi after qualifying on pole and taking his best Sprint result of the year in 2nd, crashes on the opening lap and gift wraps Marc Marquez a 37-point double victory across the weekend. Throw in Jorge Martin dropping to 5th with a killer bout of Arm Pump and safe to say, Misano had an impact! We also talk about Alex Rins potentially moving to two-wheeled racing as he announces his retirement from bike racing, Pecco Bagnaia and a conversation that leaked out to the press, Senna Agius going to Tech3 to complete the 2027 grid, and the idea that we may be heading to Qatar after all.
Ring Of Failure - F1 2026 Spanish Grand Prix Review
2026/09/17
Well... that was pretty dreadful.  F1 finally headed to Madrid for its debut race around The Madring, and to put it into perspective, we had four on-track overtakes in the race. Four. Monaco had 10. Man. Dre and Cam break down how The Madring came together, and why it's such a disasterous circuit. Then they talk about the race itself, and the VSC that ultimately decided it. Lance Stroll has to retire his car after a brake failure, a VSC comes out with Lando already past the start/finish line, but close enough for Antonelli and Verstappen to box, and with Lando having a 7-second pit stop, he fell behind to third in the queue, and Antonelli takes advantage to win his eighth race of the season. In shocking news, a discussion has broken out about the "fairness" of the VSC. Is it unfair? Should Lando have been given a chance to stop? Is the VSC inherently flawed, and is it okay that we have it in the sport as it is? There's also shameless discussions on Mohammed Ben Sulayem batting extra hard for Fernando Alonso and trying to convince him not to retire, and the F1 2027 calendar is revealed, with 10 Sprints and Monaco getting one of them. God help us.
Thirst Quenched - 2026 IndyCar Grand Prix of Monterrey Review
2026/09/13
After 35 races and two years out of the winner's circle, Scott McLaughlin finally quenches his first with a race victory at IndyCar's season finale at the Grand Prix of Monterrey.  Honestly, not much to even really get into on this one because McLaughlin completely dominated, leading 87 out of 95 race laps, and his main threat - The near impervious Alex Palou, was given a completely dud strategy from strategist Barry Wanser. Two used soft tyre stints? Really? Phew. With it, Cam and Dre take the opportunity to review the minor stories to tie up at the end of the season. Kylke Kirkwood finishing second on the road in just his second road course podium to take second in the Championship ahead of Christian Lundgaard, Pato O'Ward and David Malukas. We also had Dennis Hauger hold onto the Rookie of the Year title after being slammed into the wall by Sting Ray Robb.  And finally, a look at IndyCar's new controversial rule - An evaluation system to determine Indy NXT talent that's eligible for an IndyCar Series License. The timing with 11th place finisher in IndyNXT, Josh Pierson, rumoured to be bringing a large amount of money to the grid, can't be ignored...
Small Italian MAN - 2026 Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix Review
2026/09/10
We can't call Kimi Antonelli a smol Italian child anymore. The man just grew up way too goddamn quickly, my word. And with it, Kimi just became an F1 winner from the second furtherest back spot on the grid ever - P19! Only JOhn Watson has ever won a GP from further back, back in 1983! But the ramifications of the win are being felt through the paddock. How must it feel for George Russell, who's now 66 points back with just 10 races (We think it may be nine), to go. Is there any hope left for a title push when you lose out in a race you started from pole, with your teammate in 19th?  How about Ferrari, who started their race with Charles Leclerc running Lewis Hamilton off the road at the opening chicane, only for the Monaco man to lose control a lap later and spin into the outside fence of the parabolica. Again. We talk in depth on Leclerc as a driver in the Ferrari setup, and Lewis Hamilton's rather blatant attempts to push the team in his direction.  There's also Alpine going mad after Pierre Gasly stole pole despite 66-1 odds to do it, McLaren fighting with each other again, and Max Verstappen once againg going ballistic to take a podium finish in third with Red Bull. And that's before we mention another potential calendar shrinkage, and previewing the Madring coming up this weekend. Enjoy!
Pato's Daily Double - 2026 IndyCar Milwaukee Mile Review
2026/09/05
This was a genuinely wild weekend, where Pato O'Ward won his 12th IndyCar race before he won his 11th, and at one point he was leading both Milwaukee races at once. Welcome to the mile, baby. Dre, Cam and RJ review a ridiculous weekend in Milwaukee. We got 90 laps of Race 1 in, but due to a washout of rain, we couldn't get going again on the day, meaning we had a very unusual situation where Race 2 got underweay and completed, before we Race 1 restarted. Bizarre decision making, but with it, we got Pato winning both Milwaukee races after Will Power threw away Race 2 with a Pitlane speeding penalty and a David Malukas plenum fire. We break it all down. And with it, we talk about Alex Palou winning his fifth IndyCar series title in the last six years. Just what a posisibe influence he is for the series, just how likeable he actually is, and ask whether he's on the way to becoming a GOAT of the series. Enjoy!
THAT Pass - 2026 MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix Review
2026/09/04
Marc Marquez taking 37 points after his eighth win at Aragon shouldn't be much of a headline if you know how the man operates. But how we got there was anything but straight forward. Marco Bezzecchi had a major influence on the weekend with a surprise pole position and a pair of podiums for getting involved in the thick of the action. But the biggest surprise was Pedro Acosta, with a pass of the year candidate around of the outside of the final corner as Bez and Marquez banged shoulders at 195mph! We talk about that incredible sequence in what was probably the MotoGP highlight of the year. The gang also talk about Trackhouse's disasterous weekend as AI Ogura got injured in a training accident, Raul Fernandez's gearbox exploded and all of a sudden push for a double title looks off the rails. Also discussed, Pecco Bagnaia's horror weekend, and more silly season news as Jack Miller is announced to be leaving Pramac Yamaha and heading to World Superbikes, Izan Guevara replacing him, and Luca Marini moving to KTM after being pushed out of Honda.
Reverse Sportswashing - IndyCar 2026 Freedom 250 Review
2026/08/28
NOTE: We're left-leaning on this podcast, so if you're the sort of sicko that actually likes Donald Trump and willingly turns a blind eye to sportswashing, this episode might not be for you. But we've been dreading this one to be honest. After seven months of prep and what our beloved Ryan Erik King called "Reverse Sportswashing", IndyCar pulled off the Freedom 250 from Washington D.C, and between us, we break down how we got here, just how much influence The Donald had on the weekend itself, and then of course, the race itself. Kyle Kirkwood absolutely dominated the weekend, taking the lead from the front row and then leading 128 out of the massive 147 laps. This race took 160 minutes to get through, a slog by IndyCar standards. It was also a startling day for Alex Palou to have his worst weekend in IndyCar. A race ruined by driving over pit equipment, a pitstop error by his crew, losing a lap, and then hitting the inside wall and losing three more enroute to a P20 finish. Championship not quite under wraps just yet.  And hey, we even had a Scott McLaughlin cameo, before he threw himself into the outside wall. It's something! All that and more on a weird, special, Motorsport101!
Thank You, Zandvoort - F1 2026 Dutch Grand Prix Review
2026/08/25
Parting is such sweet sorrow. Depending on who you are. For the final time as we know it, the Dutch Grand Prix took place at Zandvoort with over 350,000 in the house over the final three days of running, and with it, McLaren would go back-to-back in 2026 with Lando Norris taking victory. With Norris just 83 points off the Championship lead, is there time for a McLaren Championship comeback, ala Max in 2025? How we got there though, was messy. An opening lap crash from Max Verstappen due to losing his front on the opening lap due to some early rain. There was the fact the race was colder than expected, and the drivers were struggling to get tyres switched on, as Kimi Antonelli couldn't hold on like Lando Norris could, with Lando using some quirky strategy from Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton, to make a decisive pass for the win. But with Russell told to make way for Antonelli for second, is Mercedes shutting down the title race? We also talk about the injury stand-ins in Liam Lawson replacing Isack hadjar after the Frenchman broke his hand, and Yuki Tsunoda making a cameo for Racing Bulls. We talk Marcin Budkowski taking over for Graeme Lowdon at Cadillac and say goodbye to Zandvoort after six years of hosting the Dutch Grand Prix. Enjoy!
Ericsson Hit Us - 2026 IndyCar Grand Prix of Markham Review
2026/08/21
Just what IndyCar needed in their crazy gauntlet speedrun to the end of the season - An absolutely chaotic Markham debut weekend. Dre and RJ Review what was a hectic weekend in Canada, a weekend that didn't even start on time due to promoter mistakes and the entriety of Friday being cancelled due to a lack of track barriers and tyres in place. Welp.  Once we did get going, Marcus Ericsson would win his 5th IndyCar race via some stratgic brilliance in a sea of cautions -  Six of them in a 40-lap spell, including Mick Schumacher, polesitter Louis Foster and street king Kyle Kirkwood all in the wall for making key mistakes. It was a race that was surrounded by dramatics, and ended up in a brilliant stratregic convergence as Ericsson chased down his teammate Will Power, Alex Palou and Romain Grosjean in the closing laps when it mattered most. But was it enough to save a sketchy first running in Markham? Also, is Yuki Tsunoda from Red Bull heading to IndyCar? We break it all down in a brand new Motorsport101!
