Driven by a purpose | God will pour out His Spirit (Part 1)
2026/10/02
Proverbs 29.18 delivers an uncompromising truth: “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
Throughout Scripture, prophets, priests, and apostles were defined by one common thread: they were propelled by divine vision. Vision is not wishful thinking, nor is it a personal ambition dressed up in religious vocabulary. It is the steady, quiet conviction of hearing the voice behind you say: “This is the way, walk in it” (Isaiah 30.21).
When you possess God-given vision, it provides the endurance needed to press on when circumstances look impossible.
The Collision of Calling and Timing
Many believers miss the mark not because they lack passion, but because they ignore God's timing.
In 1961, when the modern nation of Israel was just 13 years old, word spread of a global Pentecost conference hosted in Jerusalem. At that point, I was an evangelist planting churches across the UK. I had never been to Israel and had no natural desire to visit.
Yet the Holy Spirit began stirring a deeper hunger. I realised that for the first time in nearly two millennia, believers would gather in the Upper Room on the Day of Pentecost to pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Driven by clear divine timing, I went.
That single, obedient step changed everything. That journey unlocked the door behind the Iron Curtain, beginning decades of clandestine Bible smuggling, public evangelism, and church planting in the most restricted corners of the earth.
Almost all of my ministry contemporaries in post-WWII Britain chose to move to the United States, where ministry resources and funding were plentiful. Leaving for America seemed logical, comfortable, and practical. But it was not God's assignment for me. Divine vision demands that you go where you are sent, not where the path is easiest.

Out of the overflow of the heart we speak | Two Minute Daily Devotional
2026/10/02
Based on the Book of James, chapter 3, we are cautioned to be careful about the words we use. Jesus said, "Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks."
We should be consistent in what we say. And in verse 11, he sums it up very, very carefully: "Can fresh water and dirty water – salt water – come from the same spring?" It can't. And he also says, "Can a fig tree bear half figs and half olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring bring fresh water."
Now, why is he saying that? Because the trouble is that what comes out of your mouth is what's in your heart. Yeah, what comes out of your mouth is what's in your heart. And if you're speaking evil things, it's an indication of something wrong in your heart and wrong in your spirit.
Then in verse 13, he continues very strongly by saying, "Who is wise and understanding? If you think that you're wise and you've got understanding, show it by the life you live, by deeds." It's got to be more than words in your life. It's so easy to speak and say this, this, this, and this, but it's not so easy to do it. It's easy to talk the talk, but not so easy to walk the walk.
Words which bless and curse | Two Minute Daily Devotional
2026/10/01
Based on the Book of James, chapter 3, we are cautioned to be careful about the words we use – make sure they uplift and not lead to destruction.
We need to realise the importance of what we say. Then, of course, in verse 9, he goes on: "With the tongue we praise the Lord, and with it we curse man, who has been made in God's image. Out of the same person's mouth can come both blessing and cursing."
Now, it's true. Somebody can come up to you and, if they want to flatter you, they can speak really nice things: "Oh, you're wonderful," and so on, and "I like you," and so on. And yet, they can turn behind your back and to somebody else say the exact opposite. What people say to your face is not what they say behind your back.
I mean, they can be so pleasant to your face. I mean, I've had people who come up to me and make promises of what they're going to do this and – and when they go away, they do the exact opposite. They lie.
The whole thing is that what James is saying is: this all comes down to the tongue. So, yes, with that same tongue – and in verse 10, "Out of the same mouth can come praise, blessing, and cursing. Brothers, this should never be." We should be consistent in what we say.
Come to the Father (with Vinesong) - Legacy Episode
2026/09/30
When you call upon the Name of the Lord you will be saved, healed and restored. If you need Jesus to work a miracle, I want to pray with you: 'Father we come in the mighty Name of Jesus, we ask You for a miracle. Reach out Your hand, touch these people, heal their sicknesses, forgive their sins, mend broken hearts, restore their lives. You sent Your Son so that we could know You: that we could know Your love, power and forgiveness. I place my hand on my sickness and receive my healing today. Amen.'

Words cannot be erased | Two Minute Daily Devotional
2026/09/30
Based on the Book of James, chapter 3, we are cautioned to be careful about the words we use – make sure they uplift and not lead to destruction.
What we say is important. I mean, the Bible says that everything we say is recorded, and we shall be judged on it.
And while you might think that that's an impossibility, but what we're finding now: that so often the record of what you have said on a phone, it's difficult to get rid of it. You find that it's on the internet, and it is not easy to remove what has been said. And sadly, I know of cases where even young people have applied for a job, and the person who's going to employ them has examined what that young person has said. And it's recorded on the internet, and if they were negative, they have lost the job.
I want you to realise the importance of the tongue. In verse 7, all kinds of animals, birds, and so on are being tamed and have been tamed by man. What James is saying is this: nobody can tame the tongue. Nobody can control what you say. And you know, the danger is so often that people regret what they've said.
When we speak, we create sound and sound waves. Those sound waves don't disappear.
The Power of the Tongue | Two Minute Daily Devotional
2026/09/29
Based on the Book of James, chapter 3, we are cautioned to be careful about the words we use – make sure they uplift and not lead to destruction.
In verse 6, James says, "The tongue is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. The tongue can corrupt the whole person and set the whole course of his life on fire." And then, of course, he goes on to say – and this is the danger – even the tongue can be set on fire by hell.
Now, these are strong words coming from someone who lived so close to Jesus and wasn't necessarily in the first part of the ministry. We are not quite certain exactly when James was to become such an active part. But why I think this is important, and this chapter and this whole book is important, because you're dealing with somebody who understood the person of who Jesus was and who the followers were. In one sense, growing up with Jesus – remember that Jesus didn't start His ministry till He was 30 – I just sense that James must have had a much stronger realisation of the character of Jesus right from His birth.
And you know, it is so important that what we say is important. I mean, the Bible says that everything we say is recorded and we shall be judged on it.
The Hard Way: Lessons from Mark 10.23-45 (Part 3)
2026/09/28
Salvation is a gift freely given, but following Christ costs everything. In Mark 10, Jesus confronts His followers with a jarring paradox: while grace cannot be bought, the path of discipleship carries a cost that many simply refuse to pay.
Most believers are comfortable with the promise of heaven, yet hesitant when confronted with the reality of the cross. Re-examining Mark 10 reveals a stark choice between seeking personal status and embracing sacrificial service.
In Mark 10:35-45, James and John approach Jesus with a bold request: they want the premier seats on His right and left in glory. They bypass the mission and jump straight to the reward.
Jesus halts their ambition immediately:
“You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or be baptized with the baptism that I am baptised with?” (Mark 10:38)
James and John assumed glory was a matter of proximity and privilege. Jesus made it clear that glory is forged through suffering, endurance, and persecution. When they casually answered, “We can,” Jesus confirmed they would indeed share in His cup, reminding them that spiritual authority is not an executive title handed out by favoritism, but a calling measured by how much you are willing to lay down.
Outside Jericho, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus cries out through the crowds: “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
When Jesus calls Bartimaeus forward, He asks the exact same question He previously posed to James and John: “What do you want Me to do for you?”
James and John’s request: Prominence, power, and prestige (“Grant us to sit on your right and left”).
Bartimaeus’s request: Spiritual desperation, honesty, and humility (“Lord, that I might receive my sight”).
The disciples wanted thrones; the blind man simply wanted to see. Bartimaeus received his sight immediately because he came without pretense, desperate for the mercy of God.

Be careful of what you say | Two Minute Daily Devotional
2026/09/28
Based on the Book of James, chapter 3, we are cautioned to be careful about the words we use - making sure they uplift and do not lead to destruction.
If we listen to the wrong voices, and if we are not responding to God, we will turn – without necessarily realising it – in the wrong direction.
The tongue is a small part of the body, but it controls so much of who and what we are. It is so easy to use the tongue in the wrong direction.
James also goes on to use another illustration: great forest fires are so often started not by something big, but by something small. Here, James is illustrating two distinct truths. First, with the tongue, our direction can be turned, influencing those who follow us. Second, if we misuse the tongue, it can cause a fire – it can cause destruction and immense damage. In verse 6, he says, "The tongue is a fire."

The Hard Way: Lessons from Mark 10.23-45 (Part 2)
2026/09/25
In Mark 10.33, Jesus takes the Twelve aside – speaking specifically to them rather than the wider crowd – to reveal what lies ahead: His suffering and death. He tells them, “The Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles.”
Immediately after Jesus reveals His impending death and resurrection, an extraordinary interaction occurs. In verse 35, the brothers James and John approach Jesus with a bold request: “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.”
It is a striking demand – unlike almost anything else seen from the disciples in Scripture. It reflects a mindset people sometimes bring to prayer today: approaching God demanding our own terms.
Jesus responds by asking, “What do you want Me to do for you?” Though He already knew their hearts, He allowed them to speak for themselves. In verse 37, they make their request: “Grant us to sit, one at Your right hand and one at Your left, in Your glory.”
In verse 38, Jesus rebukes them gently but firmly: “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptised with the baptism with which I am baptised?”
Jesus redirects their focus from status to calling. Before the crown comes the cup; before reigning comes the willingness to endure suffering and persecution for the sake of the Gospel. The message remains a vital challenge for believers today: if we desire a place in His Kingdom, we cannot merely seek honour – we must be willing to pay the price of true discipleship and service.

Use your words to uplift | Two Minute Daily Devotional
2026/09/25
In today’s episode, based on the Book of James, chapter 3, we must learn to control our tongue – to only use words that uplift rather than tear down.
We all stumble in many ways. We all fail; not one of us is perfect.
In verse 3, he then puts it in a slightly different way, saying the same thing. He says: "We put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us." And it's quite interesting, because that's the only way you can control a horse, really, is by pulling on that bit – that steel thing in its mouth. In doing so, we make the horse obey us and turn.
And then he uses another illustration – it's quite interesting that he uses this illustration in verse 4 – of ships. Because, of course, in those days they were large, heavy, wooden sailing ships, not like our modern ships. And he said that although the ship can be so big and driven by a wind so strong, the whole ship is turned by that tiny rudder.
We have to be so careful the direction that we choose. If we listen to the wrong voices and if we're not responding to God, we will turn – without necessarily realising it – in the wrong direction.
Put your faith into action | Two Minute Daily Devotional
2026/09/24
In today's episode, based on the Book of James, chapter 2, verse 19: Do you think it is enough to just believe that there is a God? Move beyond that. Be like Abraham, and put your faith into action, and become a friend of God.
The devil believes that there's a God. He knows – he knows only too well! And, I mean, that was evidenced right from the beginning of Scripture with his temptation in the Garden of Eden, and also in the temptation when Satan took Jesus onto a mountain and tempted Him three times. The devil recognises who God is.
In verse 22, do you see how faith was confirmed by his action, and by his action his faith was made complete? And in verse 23, the Scripture which was fulfilled – this is the Old Testament Scripture: "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted, imputed unto him for righteousness, and he was called a friend of God."
Why? The thing which justified Abraham in God's sight is not just that he believed in God, but the fact that he believed enough to obey God because of his actions in the Old Testament. Salvation in the Old Testament came with Abraham because he believed God and acted in faith.
Behold the Lamb of God (with Vinesong) - Legacy Episode
2026/09/23
I want to tell you who Jesus is. He is the Son of God! That is why He can heal the sick and raise the dead. When I was recently in Israel the taxi driver who was driving me to Tel Aviv Airport kept asking, 'Why did we kill Yeshua, He was a good man; He said good things, He healed the sick; He must be the Son of God!' Jesus could only work the miracles we read about in the Bible because He IS the Son of God! God loves Israel, God loves you. He wants a relationship with you, but how can you find Him?
From healing the sick to raising the dead, Jesus does what no ordinary man can do. God loves you. He sent His Son to forgive your sins, heal your sickness and set you free. The question is: Will you recognise who Jesus really is and call upon Him today?
'Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. He was sent here to die upon a cross, and from that cross His blood still pours forth. So while there's still time be cleansed be healed!'

Live out your faith with purpose | Two Minute Daily Devotional
2026/09/23
In today’s episode, based on the Book of James, chapter 2, David challenges you to live out your faith with purpose – to not just say, "I believe in God," but to understand that your faith has to be life-transforming.
Verse 14: "What does it profit, my brethren, though a man says he has faith, and he doesn't have the responding work? Can faith save him?"
If a brother or sister is naked and destitute, and if you simply say, "Go on your way, I can't help you," and you don't give them the things which are needful, what does it mean? That is why in verse 17 he says that if you have faith and you don't have the accompanying lifestyle, then that faith is dead.
Verse 19 is very strong. There are a lot of people who say they believe in God. The majority of people – even non-believers, non-churchgoers, non-Christians – will say, "Oh yes, there is a God; I believe in God."
"I believe in God," yes, but look at what James says in verse 19. He says, in essence: "You do very well, don't you? Because even the devil himself believes in God."
It's all very well simply saying, "Oh, I'm fine because I believe there's a God; I believe in God." Yes, but the devil believes that there is a God – he knows only too well! Your salvation doesn't come simply because you say, "I believe in God."
How to demonstrate faith | Two Minute Daily Devotional
2026/09/22
In today’s episode, based on the Book of James, chapter 2, David challenges you to live out your faith – not just to attend church and say you have faith, but to demonstrate it by the life you live.
What does it profit a man, brethren, though a man says he has faith, but doesn't have the works that go with that faith? Can faith alone save him?
Faith, if it doesn't have the accompanying lifestyle, is dead. He says here very clearly in verse 18: If you say, "I have faith," and someone else says, "Well, it's the work that I do," then somebody can challenge you and say, "Show me what kind of faith you have by the way you live." Because the answer is: I will show you the depth of my faith by what I do, by how I live.
Do you see the contrast? It's no use simply saying, "Oh, I'm a Christian, I have faith," if you don't live as a Christian. It's easy to talk the talk, but you have to walk the walk. In other words, you have to live according to what you say. There are far too many people who will say and speak, but their lives don't correspond.
