Why Would Jesus Say "Eat My Flesh"?! | Jesus Said What?!
2026/10/25
They came to Jesus for what He could do for them. Then He said something so strange that many of His followers walked away. In Week 4 of "Jesus Said What?!", Pastor Brent Garrard walks through John 6∶50–59, where Jesus tells the crowd He just fed that He is the living bread from heaven, and that whoever eats His flesh and drinks His blood will live forever. The real question: will we let Jesus change our expectations, or will our expectations decide whether we keep following Him? Three things Jesus calls us to: → Let what you want from Jesus bow to what He wants for you — He is King, not the version of Him we are comfortable with → Feed on Jesus, not just His gifts — We don't just need better things, we need Jesus → Trust Him while your understanding is still developing — "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." We also talk about what to do when following Jesus costs you something you thought He would protect: the promotion that went to someone else, the relationship that changed, the outcome you made a condition of trusting Him. "Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me." — John 6∶57 (NIV) Jesus gave His life for us so we could find our life in Him. Chapters 00:00 Cold open 00:33 Intro 00:55 Meeting someone who's nothing like you imagined 04:06 Let what you want from Jesus bow to what he wants for you 09:21 Reading John 6, verses 50 to 59 10:52 Their enthusiasm hadn't yet become trust 16:57 What are you depending on to give you life? 19:58 Midroll 20:20 Feed on Jesus, not just his gifts 23:54 Jesus gave his life so we could find our life in him 28:34 Monday morning: the promotion that went to someone else 32:01 Trust him while your understanding is still developing 34:34 When I want Jesus to be my fixer 37:33 Following Jesus this far, but no further? 40:11 Closing prayer 40:47 Outro ▶️ Watch the full message: https://youtu.be/zTPGcYQqDf0 📸 Instagram: @infocuschurch 📍 In Focus Church | Augusta, GA 🔗 infocus.church
Why Getting Even Never Works | Jesus Said What?!
2026/10/20
Someone hurt you — and every part of you wants them to pay. Jesus says something almost nobody wants to hear. In Week 3 of "Jesus Said What?!", Pastor Brent Garrard walks through Matthew 5∶38–48: turn the other cheek, go the extra mile, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you. The real question: will our response be determined by the person who hurt us, or by the Father who loves us? Three things Jesus calls us to: → Surrender the desire to get even — Their wrong doesn't give us permission to do wrong → Seek the good of the person who hurt you — Love them before they've earned it → Let your Father's love become the pattern for yours — Love that doesn't stop where our circle ends We also talk about what loving an enemy does NOT mean: staying in danger, hiding wrongdoing, or instantly restoring trust. "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." — Matthew 5∶44 (NIV) Before I was commanded to love an enemy, I was an enemy whom God loved. Chapters 00:00 Cold open 00:21 Intro 00:43 Our retaliation and vengeance problem 07:35 Reading Matthew 5, verses 38 to 48 09:01 Look at the Father first 13:33 1. Surrender the desire to get even 17:32 What loving an enemy does NOT mean 20:05 How revenge sneaks into our lives 22:52 Midroll 23:11 2. Seek the good of the person who hurt you 28:49 When you don't feel like it, pray 31:42 3. Let your Father's love become the pattern 38:08 This week: three steps to take 42:13 Closing prayer 43:27 Outro ▶️ Watch the full message: https://youtu.be/4NoPNAHTO2Q 📸 Instagram: @infocuschurch 📍 In Focus Church | Augusta, GA 🔗 infocus.church
The Mission - The Spirit’s Power | 1/18/26
2026/01/18
John 3:16 may be the most familiar verse in the Bible, vet its meaning is anything but shallow. This verse does more than summarize the gospel, it reveals the heart of God and the starting point of His mission. At its core, mission does not begin with human strategy, obligation, or programs, but with the deep, self-giving love of a Father who refuses to remain distant from a broken world. As we begin this series, we are invited to slow down, revisit this foundation and truth, and allow the Father's love to realign our hearts, our faith, and our lives with His mission for the world At In Focus Church, love God, love people and reach the world with God's love is more than a mission statement it is how we want to live. We want to boldlv share the love of Jesus with others. We hope you will want to be a part of what God is doing in and through IFC as we continue to be a church that displays the gospel through how we love one another and the world around us, as Christ loved us first Along with a powerful time in the Word of God, we will alsc be able to worship God wholeheartedlv as He deserves. Whether you join us in person or online, we look forward to worshiping with you! And if you are coming on Sunday, bring someone with you! God is about to do some more miracles!

Good News Travels Slow | The Gospel and Beautiful Feet | Romans 10:8–15
2025/10/26
What is the gospel — and why does it matter? In a world full of messages and movements, the gospel stands a part as the good news that God has done for us what we could never do for ourselves. It's more than advice on how to live better; it's the life-changing announcement that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again to reconcile us to God. This message has not only transformed individual lives for over 2,000 years — it launched a global movement that continues to change hearts, heal brokenness, and shape history. Before we can share it or live it, we must understand it. And once we understand it, it changes everything. At In Focus Church, love God, love people and reach the world with God's love is more than a mission statement, it is how we want to live. We want to boldly share the love of Jesus with others.
