Hello parents and grownups in our Ahway Island Family, this episode of Be Calm on Ahway Island is brought to you by our friends at Kindred Bravely. Visit kindredbravely.com and use discount code AHWAYISLAND20 to save 20% on your purchase. Morgan Mole learns the importance of self care from their new friend, Diana Duck Narrator: Male Story Begins: 5:06 Relaxing Riverbank Excerpt: It was a very sunny day on Ahway Island. Green tree branches swayed in the gentle breeze. The birds flew and fluttered through the wind, happy that the sun was out.   It seemed everyone in the Ahway Island Forest was out and about, enjoying the beautiful weather. Everyone that is, except Morgan Mole, who was hard at work digging tunnels not far from the river. Morgan loved digging around the river where the dirt was cool and moist. Cool dirt was the best kind of dirt for digging, in Morgan’s mind.   Recently, Morgan had been digging extra hard to find sticks for a new nest. The right selection of sticks would help create a nest that was big and sturdy and could last all year. Morgan had already found a few sticks in the days before. But the nest wasn't quite ready yet. More sticks and twigs were needed. So bright and early this morning, Morgan had begun the quest to find the perfect sticks to make the perfect nest. Today’s Meditation: Imagine drawing gentle shapes in the soothing sand as you relax before today's story. 265. Island Wonder: a calming bedtime and nap time story for kids
2022/06/24
The Sparkling Train notices that the calm sea is always nearby. The Train visits the airport to ask the planes a question: 'are we on an island?' Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Island Wonder” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Story Begins: 8:44 Island Wonder Excerpt: Filling the morning air with a warm glow, the sun peeked above the forest. The sun’s light filled the solar train with the energy it would need to move around the tracks all day.  The sparkling train smiled and checked its get ready list. The sparkling train’s wheels felt great, the doors were opening nice and smoothly, and its seats and floors were clean.  Yes, the train was ready for the passengers.  People lined up and waited on the platform.   The sparkling train’s doors whooshed open and the passengers filed on board eager to take their regular seats.  Once everyone was seated the train slowly eased forward to begin its route.  As it pulled out of the station the sparkling solar train noticed the waves on the sea.  The train smiled and took a deep dragon breath in and out relaxing with the waves.  The people on the train relaxed and took deep dragon breaths as well.  The sea calmed them all.  The train rolled up to the next station and noticed the sea once again.  It had never noticed that the sea was always alongside the train everywhere except the tunnel.  An idea formed in the sparkling train’s mind. And since all the passengers had exited, now the train had a break. It decided to test its idea by stopping at the airport to visit the planes.  They would know. The sparkling train rolled up to the airplane hangar and said, “Hey Holly, Herb, Hazel, Hawk, and Harmony…Are you there?” Today’s Meditation: Today, notice loving energy flowing through your body, from your feet up to your head. 617: Caring Cardinal: a relaxing story for children
2022/06/20
Carrie Cardinal helps an unlikely visitor in the Ahway Island Forest. Narrator: Female Story Begins: 4:20 Caring Cardinal Excerpt: It was a damp day on Ahway Island. Little raindrops slid down the big green leaves of the pretty trees. The little drops landed on some red and yellow flowers. Carrie Cardinal hopped around on the forest floor, collecting the red and yellow flowers for her nest. Carrie loved collecting flowers for her nest inside the big oak tree. Carrie loved the red flowers the most because they matched her pretty feathers.   Carrie lived in the big oak tree near Chelsea and Abby Chipmunk. They were very good neighbors. But they liked to stay inside during rainy days.   Carrie brought the red and yellow flowers to her nest, gently placing them around the sides. She patted the flowers down with her feet, making sure she was gentle enough to not break her new decorations. Today’s Meditation: Imagine that you are a graceful willow tree in today's meditation. 264. Brave Bunny: a calming bedtime and nap time story for children
2022/06/17
Ballet Bunny thumps her foot at the Spring storm to warn her friends and scare away the thunder.  Will it work? Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Brave Bunny” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 8:30 Brave Bunny Excerpt: Dark clouds filled the sky and wind twisted the branches of the trees.  Rain drip-dropped through the forest branches and splashed the little bunny.  Ballet shook and the water droplets flew off in all directions.  She hurriedly hopped next to a tree and checked to see where her friends were.  Carrie the Cardinal sat in the branch above her watching the sky.  The squirrels, Nutsy and Peanut, were busy in the branches above tossing an acorn back and forth.  The acorn flew over Nutsy’s head and then tumbled down below landing right in front of the little bunny.  Ballet smiled up at her friends. And nudged the acorn out where they could see it.  Peanut scampered down the tree to retrieve the acorn when a deep rumble filled the air growing louder and louder until the sound shook the trees branches. Ballet frowned and looked up at the sky, defiantly thumping her foot three times.   The little bunny was telling the thunder to go away and also warning her friends of the oncoming storm.  Peanut wasted no time gathering the acorn and heading for the cozy pine tree.  Nutsy zipped past Ballet and Carrie flew over, singing that Ballet should come with. 259. What’s The Weather?: a calming bedtime and nap time story
2022/06/10
There's a lot of excitement on Ahway Island about what Gus Groundhog thinks about the weather! Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “What's The Weather?” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Story Begins: 10:20 What's The Weather? Excerpt: Resting in his cozy den, the warm earth hugged the little groundhog. Gus was rolled into a ball.  His little pink nose tucked gently under his furry paws.  Gus’s coat was fluffy and thick to keep him warm during his winter nap.  The little groundhog’s eyes fluttered open as he noticed some muffled sounds. What was all that? Gus rubbed his eyes and yawned.  He wondered what the sounds were and whether he should bother leaving his cozy bed to figure it out.  The noise continued and the little groundhog began to feel more and more curious.  Maybe it was something really exciting! Gus stretched and decided to take a peak outside. At the opening of his entrance tunnel Gus saw sunshine lighting up the dark brown ground.  The little groundhog hobbled down the tunnel and then slowly peeked outside. The roar of cheers filled the air, startling Gus. He ducked back into the tunnel and the cheering stopped.  Slowly Gus lifted his head back out and the cheering began again.  This time Gus blinked in the bright sunlight and looked around.  Smiling people surrounded his home.  The little groundhog wondered why they were there.  He had been right, something exciting was going on. Gus felt glad he had climbed out of his bed. Today’s Meditation: Happiness and love flow through you in this meditation. Looking for stories that emphasize acceptance, understanding, and empathy? 243. The Spectacular Sky: a guided relaxation and calming story
2022/06/03
Dragon and Bianca share a fantastic night looking at the night sky on Ahway Island. Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “The Spectacular Sky” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Story Begins: 8:38 The Spectacular Sky Excerpt: The cozy cave grew dark and chilly as the sun began its nightly routine.   The dragon hurried outside to watch the warm ball of light change from orange to red.  As the sky transformed into a deep blue, the dragon decided to go visit the icy land once more.  Smiling, the dragon extended its wings.  The breeze filled them and gently lifted the dragon up into the dark sky.  The dragon turned its head in the direction of the train tracks, spotted them, and followed the curving trail back to the land of ice and snow.   Meanwhile, Bianca the polar bear gazed up at the deep dark sky, and noticed a shadow.  It grew bigger and bigger.  The polar bear realized that it was the dragon returning!  She hurried to tell Princely the penguin and Beau the Beluga whale.   As the dragon flew closer and closer, it noticed a penguin waddling quickly.  Princely was easy to spot with his slick black feathers.  The dragon searched for a soft spot to land, and held its wings straight out, drifting gently to the ground.  As the dragon landed, Bianca jumped up and gave the dragon a great big hug!  The dragon’s eyes opened wide in surprise, and Princely laughed and laughed.  Bianca stepped back from the dragon and grinned from ear to ear.  She felt happy to see her new friend.  Then she noticed the look on the dragon’s face.  The little polar bear held a paw up to her mouth and said, “Oops.  You probably didn’t see me.  I forget I’m close to invisible sometimes.  I’m sorry I surprised you.” Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating on a cloud, and relax into the feeling of lightness. Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Animal Train” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 9:44 Animal Train Excerpt: By now Billy and Emily understood the routine for riding the solar train. They waited patiently on the platform and wondered what wonderful new place they would visit today.  Emily could hardly believe that it was their third train ride.  She wondered if they would go through the tunnel again today, and then remembered her brother didn’t like tunnels.  “Will you be Ok if we go through the tunnel?” She asked Billy.  He smiled at her and said “Thanks for checking.  I think I’ll be fine. This tunnel is quieter and brighter with the windows.”  The sparkling train arrived with a gentle whirr.  Once it stopped, the doors slid open with a whoosh.  Emily and Billy stepped aboard. Their parents followed them on.   Billy made his way to a seat, bowed and motioned for Emily to slide in next to the window. Emily smiled and scooted over to make room for her big brother.  Their parents smiled and sat down in the seat behind them, once more.  Then the train slowly began to roll forward.   “Here we go!” Emily exclaimed.   “It’s different this time.” Billy noted.  And it was.  Instead of heading up to the elevated tracks, the train headed the opposite direction down into the tunnel. 608: Cartwheel Capers: a meditation and calming bedtime story
2022/05/23
Allie is practicing her cartwheels, but it's harder than she expected. Fortunately, her cousin Alice is there to help her out! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 4:30 Cartwheel Capers Excerpt: It was a bright afternoon on Ahway Island. The birds sang in the sky, chipmunks scurried along the ground, and squirrels scrambled up and down the trees.   Allie O’Leary was playing in her backyard. The pond twinkled in the sunshine and from time to time, a frog splashed in the cool waters. Allie didn’t pay any attention to the frog, or to the fish that blew bubbles in the water. This was unusual for Allie. She loved the pond and the creatures that lived there. But right now, Allie was completely focused on her mission. She couldn’t let the pond distract her.   Allie was practicing her cartwheels. She had just learned how to do one a few days ago in her gymnastics class. Allie had always loved watching other people do cartwheels and had been excited to learn how to do one herself. But in class, Allie was surprised by how difficult it was to do a cartwheel herself. 238. A Polar Pal: a soothing relaxation and kid’s bedtime story
2022/05/20
Dragon goes back to land of ice and meets Bianca! Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “A Polar Pal” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 9:40 A Polar Pal Excerpt: The dragon watched the sun change colors as it settled down for the night.  Having spent the last few nights on the beach, it was now time to go to the land of ice and snow to share thankfulness with Princely, the penguin, and Beau, the beluga whale.  The dragon stepped outside the cave and spread its wings.  The wind lifted the dragon up, up, and up, until the dragon was hovering above the train tracks.  The dragon followed the tracks over to the icy land.  The moon shined down, and the snow shimmered like star dust.  As the dragon landed the snow swirled up, surrounding the dragon in a sparkling white cloud.  Once the snow had settled back down the dragon began searching for Princely and Beau.   Off in the distance the dragon spotted something black hurtling its direction, growing larger and larger.  The dragon smiled, knowing what was about to happen.  Sure enough, a penguin slid right into the large drift next to the dragon, hopped up and shook.  The dragon ducked as snow flew in all directions.  The dragon gave Princely a big hug.  Then Beau popped out of the water, wondering what all the commotion was about.  Happy to see the dragon had returned, the whale spouted a blast of water.   Princely said, “We’ve missed you!”  The dragon nodded indicating that it had missed the penguin and whale as well.   “We have another friend for you to meet.” Beau added. Today’s Meditation: Imagine floating in a tranquil pool, safe and relaxed, as the water rocks you gently.
