Lai arī "Sievietes, miers un drošība" programma darbojas jau kopš 2001. gada, realitāte bieži vien ir pavisam citāda. Tā vietā, lai risinātu izaicinājumus, dažreiz starptautiskās normas un standarti neatbilst cerībām. Situācija pamazām uzlabojas, taču bieži vien, lai atbalstītu sievietes un bērnus starptautiskās krīzes situācijās un pēckonflikta zonās, mēs nereaģējam īstajā brīdī un īstajā vietā. Tāpēc jau otro reizi šī gada #RSF2023 epizodēs mēs runājam par nepieciešamību dot iespēju sievietēm, bērniem un minoritātēm konfliktu un pēc konfliktu apstākļos, kā arī miera laikos. Šajā epizodē par šiem jautājumiem sarunājas Merisa Hurma, Vilsona centra Tuvo Austrumu programmas direktore un Elizabete Elīna Vizgunova-Vikmane, Latvijas Ārpolitikas institūta pētniece. Even though the Women, Peace, and Security agenda has been in place since 2001, the reality on the ground is often quite different. Instead of rising to the challenge, sometimes the international norms and standards don't meet the expectations. The situations are slowly improving, but often, we're not making it at the right time and at the right place to support women and children in international crisis situations and post-conflict areas. Therefore, for the second time in this year's #RSF2023 edition, we have gathered to talk about the role of gender and, thus, women and children in various conflict situations - the need to empower women, children, and minorities in conflict and post-conflict environments as well as in peacetime. 9th Riga Security Forum episode aims to foster a deeper understanding of how societal norms and expectations vary globally and the process in challenging traditional gender roles may not be always successful. Can we maintain international peace and security and ensure that women and children and their interests are adequately protected? Participants: Dr. Stéfanie von Hlatky, Canada Research Chair in Gender, Security and the Armed Forces & Professor of Political Studies at Queen's University, and Elizabete Elina Vizgunova-Vikmane, Researcher at the Latvian Institute of International Affairs.
