You can hardly believe it but those stalwart boys of Cinepunx are back! On this explosive new episode we get into it on two classic films we should have seen already, but somehow had not: Apocalypse Now and Platoon. We specifically watched the redux edition of Apocalypse Now if that matters to you, which I had not seen before now. Despite some reservations about the style of these movies, some of the narrative decisions, and the method they were made, we were mostly blown away by these movie. We do our usual gimmicks and have a discussion of recent events and Josh’s new solo release. Do me a favor, go order your own copy of Josh’s new record, it is really really good. We had not caught up enough lately but it was a lot of fun to talk, even if the films we were discussing were kind of bummers. Thanks for listening! NEW EPISODE IS HERE! Join us as we explore one of the greatest directors of the 20th Century, Yasujiro Ozu by discussing his most famous film, Tokyo Story.    As is our custom we do our usual WACK AND ON TRACK gimm8ck and unlike usual Josh has some actual; wack stuff to share. I spend a little too much time on this episode borrowing commentary from Dr. Jeff Stout who I saw lecture about this movie in like 2007. Anyway, we hope you enjoy the conversation and we will work hard to get back to you sooner. Opening song is Swiz, middle song is new Josh single. Hey, thanks for sticking with us and feel free to encourage new folks to check it out. Thanks for listening! COME AT YAH WITH A BRAND NEW EPISODE! We had originally planned on this episode being a chance to talk about the recent RZA directed movie One Spoon of Chocolate but honestly we just felt like there was not enough there to carry a whole episode but really wanted to record so instead here is a brief catch up on recent movies as well as the Nitrate Film Fest. BACK TOGETHER AND IT FEELS SO GOOD! Hey friends, welcome to our new episode as we check in on the cinema of today! Basically, we are working to try and record more, and I would LOVE to blame Josh but in reality scheduling has been hard for both of us. Episode is still super good, so no worries, but yes, it is a bit of a catch up so we have something to put out. Still love you though Thanks so much for listening and hanging with us, do me a favor and tell a friend we exist. On this episode we talk about a lot of movies, and we do our usual Wack and on Track gimmick as well. After Josh told me about his experience taking Job to Femtanyl I decided to use one of their songs to open the episode. IT is a bit crazy honestly. Also there is a small sound issue for the first section of the episode. Honestly? My toilet upstairs was running and the mic picked it up a little bit. Sorry buds. Thanks for listening! CUE THE SEXY SAXAMAPHONE, CINEPUNX IS BACK WITH THEIR OLD FRIEND EVAN VELLELA TO TALK ABOUT SOME DANG EROTIC THRILLERS! It is good to be back. Apologies again for the delay but Josh is a wild man and I was supporting my pastor wife getting ready for the Easter festivities and just life, yah know? Anyway, love you all, and so excited to be back with you, joined by my Ghoul Summer co-host Evan Vellela to discuss two erotic thriller of his choosing: Cat Chaser and Night Eyes.   We are so grateful Evan was able to join us and, spoiler, I really enjoyed one of these movies. Look, even if I didn’t love both of these films, it was cool to finally dip out toe into the erotic thriller world and we do discuss some other movies I am hoping to catch up with soon. We also do our usual gimmick of Wack and on Track, and I am not sure anything some up we need to link to but off mic Josh did mention he was playing this PLOW UNITED GIG IN SEPTEMBER, I dunno if it is sold out or not so go check and maybe get a ticket off the dark web. Hey, have you thought about supporting our patreon? I would love it if you did! Thanks for listening! I know, I know, you are asking your podcast player of choice out loud, right now, “WHY IS CHRIS REJECT BACK?” Well, it is simply because we love him. Also, LVAC is having some cool sales right now, so get some stuff printed, will yah?? On this extreme sport filled episode, Reject joins us to discuss two tubular films, Rad and Gleaming the Cube. Look, as much as we like to bust on Chris, the reality is he is a great dude who does great work, and you should make him feel cool by checking out LVAC, or DRYROTT, or SQUARE OF OPPOSITION, or whatever. It was actually pretty fun to talk to Chris again; even if he is a giant asshat, he is also pretty great. Kinda. On this episode, we do our usual Wack and On Track and we spend a bit more time discussing the ways DHS is being used to terrorize innocent people. I want to link to a charity, or a community organization, or an ICE WATCH group, but you should probably find a local one to you. I know things are hard right now; do not give up, we can do this together. Like I said, patronize any one of Chris’s scams — I mean, businesses — and let him know we sent yah so he stops harassing us all the time. Thanks friends, love you. Thanks for listening! HOW CAN IT BE? ANTHER DOWN ON THE STREETS EPISODE OF THE INFAMOUS CINEPUNX PODCAST? On this episode we get into a conversation discussing Mikey and Nicky, the 1976 Elaine May written and directed film that sits at the junctions of crime films, buddy films, and crushing tragedies. Josh Cassavetes and Peter Falk really make this film incredible and we spend a chunk of time parsing out what makes this classic Philly film so great. We also spend some time lamenting the fascist take over of the country, discussing some recent cinema, and Josh reminds me of the band I was in during college. It is a cavalcade of unjustified nostalgia and questionable critical insight. Our opener song is of course CROSSED KEYS and the break song is from the band Josh discusses during the episode. NOT GORGEOUS. Ok I think that is it- Thanks for listening! Please spend some time checking out our Patreon and of course, check out the family of shows available at Cinepunx.com. CINEPUNX RETURNS FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON!! On this incredible new episode, we discussed two films recommended by Paul Thomas Anderson, Midnight Run and Running on Empty. Joining us on this cinematic adventure is Blavk Guy Fawkes aka Ian Robinson, and we were delighted to talk to him I won’t waste your time with more apologies about our huge break. If you listen to the episode, you’ll hear why it’s been such a long gap between episodes and there’s some good reasons there but also we’ve just been enjoying life. On top of that it’s the holidays so I have things to do for family and quite honestly my laptop is broken again so until I get that fixed, I won’t be typing anything. You’re reading this from my voice to text! Thanks for keeping the faith Thanks for listening! OMG OMG OMG I cannot BELIEVE the episode we have for you today. Hey friends, welcome back to another incredible episode of Cinepunx, the podcast that just won’t quit! On this episode we were blessed to welcome writer/director/actor Annapurna Sriram of Fucktoys If for some reason you missed our incredible episode with Justin Pearson discussing how much we loved this movie, you can find it here.  I don’t wanna be presumptuous but I am relatively sure Annapurna is like really our friend now, which rules. I never doubted it honestly. On this episode we were so excited not only to discuss some of the making of  Fucktoys but also the movie she chose for us to discuss, Robert Altman’s 3 Women.  As well as diving deep on both movies, we do our usual Wack and On Track gimmick and discuss all manner of awesome and terrible things. You know, its a podcast, we say stuff and it is cool It was an insane gift to get to talk to Annapurna and I really hope we get to do it again cause she was so fun and interesting to discuss film and life with! You have to see her movie if it comes anywhere near you! Go to the one night screening or festival ASAP and you will not regret it! Our intro song is a weird Big Freedia track (fingers crossed spotify doesn’t nail us for it) and the break song is from Ink & Dagger because of course it is. I cannot remember honestly if there is anything special I needed to post in the notes so just hit me up if I forgot something.  Love yall! Thanks for listening! Hey friends, good to see you! On this episode of CINEPUNX we are joined by our friend and yours, Adrianna, to discuss two sapphic noir films: BOUND and HONEY DON’T! Because Josh so recently expressed his displeasure with one of these movies you might think this episode is some kind of set up, but trust me, that is not what this is. Adrianna is a thoughtful and insightful film expert and she has very interesting things to say about both films and the conversation is a lot of fun. The truth is we love Adrianna so we would have her on to discuss anything at all. I have to apologize though, we recorded this a bit ago but I had to edit this one myself and I just kept putting it off due to life stuff. Sorry friends Honestly, when the world is falling apart and everywhere you look it is easy to forget how good life can be because the evil folks are winning again and again; talking with friends about shit you love is just a gift. Thank you for the gift of your attention to it. I appreciate it greatly. We do all our usual gimmicks as far as wack and on track. I don’t THINK I need to provide any links but hit me up if you want some connects. Our opener song is MINDFORCE and the break song is RIGOROUS INSTITUTION from here in Portland. Ok thanks buds. WE ARE THE HERALDS OF GOOD AND BAD MOVIES, HERE TO ENOUNCE THE DOMINION OF CINEPUNX OVER THIS PODCAST GALAXY! Hey buds, we are back with a new low effort episode for you to enjoy! Look, Josh sees a ton of movies. He gets invited to press screenings constantly and it seemed about time for him to check in and give you the run down on those movies. Now, do I see as many as him? Well in preparation for this episode I went to see a few, but no, generally speaking I cannot even hope to keep to keep up with Josh. JUST FINANCIALLY SPEAKING I COULDN'T DO IT! I will give you all one update since we recorder, I went and saw Highest 2 Lowest and I did NOT love it as much as Josh does on this recording. I dug the lest half of the movie but the film starts off rough for sure. For our regular listeners who could literally not give a f**k about new movies I thank you in advance for your patience on this one. I still think it is a super fun convo though. This episode begins with a track off the new Public Opinion record and the break song is by Yield To None. Both bands are sick, check them out. We also still do wack and on track and discuss some really fun stuff that is you wanna know more about you gotta hit us up, that's just the facts. Thanks for listening! WE ARE BACK AND INCREDIBLY EXCITED TO DELIVER THIS EPISODE UNTO YOU! Hey friends, welcome to episode 207 of Cinepunx! Not only do we welcome guest and hopefully new friend Justin Pearson of Swing Kids, Some Girls, Crimson Curse, Three One G records, etc. to the show, but he has brought us the incredibly unique opportunity to discuss a movie so new it is not even really in wide release yet: FUCKTOYS! Additionally we discuss the EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE classic Doggiewoggiez! Poochiewoochiez! which is incredibly and maybe even impossibly a remake of The Holy Mountain made entirely out of clips from dog related media.  The intro and break music for this episode come from two of Justin's recent projects, Deaf Club and All Leather, and we hope you dig them. Of course, on top of our discussion of these two films we also have all our usual shit talking and shenanigans we hope you enjoy. Huge thanks to the director of Fucktoys, Annapurna Sriram for allowing us to watch a screener of the film for discussion. Huge thanks as well to Justin Pearson for being such a fun, interesting, and gracious guest. It is great when you get the opportunity to interact with someone whose work you respect and discover they are also a great person! Thanks for listening! CINEPUNX IS BACK WITH ANOTHER EXCITING, RIVETING, EXPLOSIVE and of course SWEATY EPISODE! Here. on episode 206 we burst into your eardrums to take our first tentative steps into the films of Ringo Lam, classic Hong Kong director. We begin this journey with two films in a thematic trilogy but for some reason skipping the second film in that trilogy by discussing City on Fire and School on Fire. While I have some experience with these kinds of films I had never explored Lam's specific filmography nor had Josh! It was fun discussing these films but we are far from experts. If you check out the two podcasts on our network with our friend Samm Deighan, TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE and EROS + MASSACRE you will find some discussion of Lam as well as references to other writers who have covered his work. This represents a beginning of our journey but one I hope we return to soon. Of course we discuss our usual WACK AND ON TRACK gimmick and other shenanigans. ALSO, are you into anime? I am just getting into it and I wanna discuss it with folks who know more than me, get at me. Thanks for listening! Sorry it is so late, there was a miscommunication between me and Sharkey and editing got delayed and the whole thing got held up. However, here we are! For this recap we are joined by Vinegar Syndrome Archivist Oscar Becher who you can see in the video below talking about dirty work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neDdNOxjH7U As usual I don't have a lot to say on this episode having not been but Josh and Oscar really get into it and share a lot of interesting stuff about the fest Of course all our usual shenanigans are present, and honestly Oscar is one of the more interesting and fun to talk to guests we have ever had.
