Cowboys without Smith, Rangers need Langford and wild, wild college football

Cowboys sign Von Miller, but what do the Rangers do about Corey Seager?

SportsDay Insiders Kevin Sherrington, Evan Grant and Calvin Watkins discuss the Cowboys' signing of DeSoto's own Von Miller. Calvin tells us that Von plans to play 10 to 15 snaps a game, and Kevin says if he's going to get nine sacks again, it'll require a world-record success rate. Otherwise, Calvin says the defense under Christian Parker looks better than it did at this time last year under Matt Eberflus. Kevin and Evan try to make sense of the Rangers' most confounding season ever, one in which a .500 record might be enough to get them in the playoffs. Can they do it with Corey Seager taking days off in the last quarter of the season? And what will be Seager's future if Ray Davis decides to reset his books in the offseason? All that and more.

SportsDay Rangers, Episode 51: Bobby Witt | Hot & cold Rangers | Rangers "Moonlight Grahams"

The trade deadline has passed, the Rangers stood pat and waited for everybody to get healthy, and now John and Evan have to make sense of where they stand, which is where they seemingly always stand: stuck in the middle. Evan points out the importance of this week's road trip, especially with Houston hosting the same two losing teams next week. Then Bobby Witt, the elder, joins the guys to talk about his quick rise to the majors, the 1996 pitching staff and being the father to one of the most electric players in the game. And, since his career was impacted by the 1994-95 strike, and he now works for an agency, we had to talk about the possibility of a work stoppage after this winter. His view isn't sunny.
