Twenty Years, and I've Learned A Few Things
2025/12/02
January 2026 will be the 20th anniversary of Let's Talk Dementia. In those years, we have helped thousands of people in their caregiving journey. The one thing I want caregivers to understand is how important it is NOT to argue with your loved one with dementia. (Really, arguing with anyone is useless!)
Colored Plates and First Names
2025/11/18
The color of the plate you serve food on will have an impact on how much your loved one with dementia might eat. If your loved one does not recall their grandchildren's names, ask the grandchildren to call them by their first name. The person with dementia will not be embarrassed when they do not recognize their grandchildren. "Hi Frank, it's Suzie. How are you?"
Should We Take Dad To Choir Practice?
2025/11/17
Dad has always enjoyed singing in the choir, and a new choir is starting. Should he participate? What about giving it a try?
What Do You Need To Give Up
2025/10/28
I've recently added something exciting (and challenging) into my world, but I had to give up a few things to make space for it. Your caregiving journey is BUSY. What do you need to give up to make space for you?

2025/09/29
Getting good sleep, or "happy sleep," is crucial for the health of your body, brain, emotions, and sense of well-being. Here are some tips to help achieve that "happy sleep."

2025/09/08
Be careful who you take caregiving advice from! There is a great deal of misinformation on the internet.

A Plastic Free Kitchen and a Plastic Free Brain
2025/08/12
Plastic crosses the blood-brain barrier, and that is not good news! How does it get there? Through the foods you eat, the water you drink, and how you store your food. It is time to make changes!
You Are NOT Normal
2025/07/31
Normal is a myth. It doesn't exist. What seems abnormal to you might seem very normal to me. That is true in the dementia journey, also. Let go of this idea of "normal," and learn to accept life as you see it.
Time To Look At Those Toes
2025/07/20
It might be time to trim those toenails. Have you looked at the feet of your loved one with dementia? The health of our feet is very important for the overall health of our body. Take a look and see if you need to take any action.
