Six Games In - Should AFC Bournemouth Fans Be Worried?
2026/10/12
AFC Bournemouth were HUMILIATED 5-1 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and the Cherries are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season. So, just how worried should we be? On this episode of The Second Look, we get into an honest, no-holds-barred discussion about what is going wrong under Marco Rose, why Bournemouth looked so lost in west London, and whether the growing frustration among supporters is justified. Six league games without a win. Sitting 17th in the table. A defence making costly mistakes, questionable team selections, confusing substitutions and a worrying lack of control when things start going wrong. There are plenty of reasons for concern — but is it too early to judge Rose, and are there still reasons to believe he can turn things around? Is patience the answer? With Sturm Graz visiting the Vitality Stadium in the Europa League before a massive Premier League meeting with Sunderland, the pressure is building. Could this be the week that changes Bournemouth's season — or are the warning signs becoming impossible to ignore? Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. AFC Bournemouth are back in Premier League action - and it's a huge test at Stamford Bridge as the Cherries take on Chelsea! After an extended international break, Marco Rose's side return to league action still searching for their first Premier League win of the season. Despite some hugely encouraging performances, Bournemouth have taken just three points from their opening five games after repeatedly letting winning positions slip away. Scott's injury is a major blow after his outstanding start to the season, while David Brooks has also picked up an injury during the international break. But could their absence provide an opportunity for other members of the squad to step up? Sam and Tom look ahead to a fascinating clash in West London, discussing: 🔴 How Bournemouth replace Alex Scott 🔴 Options: Lewis Cook, Tyler Adams, Marcus Tavernier, Ryan Christie & Alex Toth 🔵 Chelsea's chaotic start under Xabi Alonso 🔵 Why Chelsea's defensive weaknesses could give Bournemouth opportunities Can Bournemouth finally turn those performances into three points - and potentially spring a surprise at Stamford Bridge? 419 – AFC Bournemouth’s Half Time Statistic That Is IMPOSSIBLE To Ignore
2026/09/21
From the incredible scenes in San Sebastián to the frustration of a narrow defeat against Liverpool, this is a proper tale of two sides to AFC Bournemouth’s season so far, but even within games, we're seeing a startling statistic, as, after five Premier League games, Bournemouth's first-half performances would put them top of the Premier League table. We look back on a historic first-ever Europa League victory over Real Sociedad, the incredible atmosphere created by thousands of travelling Cherries, the fan march, the celebrations and the unforgettable experience of Bournemouth finally taking their place on the European stage. But then came the return to Premier League reality. Bournemouth pushed Liverpool hard but ultimately suffered a frustrating 1-0 defeat, leaving Marco Rose's side still searching for their first league win of the season. We discuss the team's performances, substitutions, squad depth and the growing questions surrounding second-half intensity and in-game management. Is there a problem with energy levels? Are substitutions coming too late? Is Marco Rose still learning which players he can trust? Or is this simply a five-game anomaly that will correct itself? European history has been made. Now Bournemouth need to make sure the Premier League doesn't become the unwanted distraction. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. "Two Nil Up & We Still Don't Win" - Newcastle 2-2 AFCB
2026/09/07
Another Bournemouth lead… another late goal conceded. 😩 The Cherries were absolutely brilliant for large parts of their trip to St James' Park, racing into a 2-0 lead through goals from Marcus Tavernier and Alex Scott before Newcastle fought back to earn a 2-2 draw. But once again, Bournemouth failed to see the game out - and that is becoming increasingly frustrating. In this episode of The Second Look, we break down: 🔴 Bournemouth's brilliant first-half performance ⚽ Tavernier's opener and Alex Scott's "fortunate but earned" goal 😩 Harvey Barnes' stunning strike and Jacob Ramsey's late equaliser 🧠 Is there a psychological problem when Bournemouth get towards the end of games? 🎯 Should Bournemouth have killed the game off earlier? 🔄 Marco Rose's substitutions - and whether they came too late 🇧🇷 Rayan's difficult afternoon and whether his form is becoming a concern 🏟️ A brilliant away day on the Toon! ✈️ The ridiculous journey home from Newcastle Despite the frustration, there is plenty to be excited about. Iraola-Ball vs Rose-Ball: What Has REALLY Changed?
2026/08/25
Bournemouth came agonisingly close to taking a point from Manchester City - only to suffer another late Etihad heartbreak as a 91st-minute winner condemned the Cherries to a 2-1 defeat. But despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from Bournemouth's performance, and in this week's Second Look, we take a closer look at what we actually learned from Marco Rose's first Premier League game in charge. How different is Rose-ball to Iraola-ball? With Bournemouth spending much of the afternoon without the ball, it wasn't easy to get a full picture of the new manager's style — but there were some fascinating early signs. We discuss: 🍒 What has changed between Andoni Iraola and Marco Rose? 🔍 The early signs of Rose's tactical approach ⚽ Why Bournemouth's pressing and defensive shape caused concern 💪 Antonio Silva's impressive Premier League debut ⭐ Adrien Truffert's continued brilliance 🔥 Evanilson and Tavernier picking up where they left off 🧤 Petrovic's distribution and Bournemouth's attempts to play from the back 🔄 Did the triple substitution change the game? 🔮 What this result tells us about the season ahead Plus, we discuss Bournemouth's summer transfer window, the potential arrival of Michele Di Gregorio, the possibility of further movement before the deadline and the start made by AFC Bournemouth Women.
