It’s pretty rare we get to see horror films at the cinema that we know almost nothing about and that was certainly the case this week. After Osgood Perkins’ last two films we knew we would be seated for whatever he made next so we were able to go see this film having only seen a teaser at the start of the year and it really added to the experience. We try to dance around spoiling this one during our discussion but Osgood is fast becoming one of the most intriguing directors out there. We also give our reactions to the Silent Hill trailer and whether it can continue the amazing resurgence the franchise is currently having.  Keeper is available in cinemas worldwide now Follow us on Twitter @SHBPod Email us: [email protected] **Please take the time to review & rate us on iTunes or your podcast service of choice. One of the great auteurs of this generation is back with his latest work in the form of a new adaptation of the most classic of all creature stories. Del toro and Frankenstein truly is a match made in heaven and now via Netflix we finally get to see his take on Mary Shelley’s classic. Perhaps not the most ‘horror’ of films by modern standards but arguably it’s horror comes from a realer place and it is certainly an emotional watch. We end by discussing the latest physical release of the greatest French horror film ever made and why its impact is still so profound all these years later.  Frankenstein is available on Netflix worldwide now Follow us on Twitter @SHBPod Email us: [email protected] **Please take the time to review & rate us on iTunes or your podcast service of choice. If you thought this was bad we’ve got 4 more months to dissect this one. After this extended intro we briefly talk about a new horror film. But more excitingly we discuss a new 4K release which is surely the best horror release of the year. There aren't many sports/horror hybrid films around usually and maybe after this week’s show we understand a little better why. Just kidding. Can two of our favourite hobbies merge together in a way we never could have imagined? Let’s find out. Ending the show; Matt has been reading some Stephen King before the next Joe Hill novel arrives soon. Mike has been checking out some classic Friday the 13th films via Arrow Video. What better way to get excited for spooky season than to discuss a brand new VHS film with the theme being all about our favourite time of year. Shudder brought back this franchise from the dead and with now 8 main entries in the franchise; can they continue to deliver? You may be surprised by our thoughts on this film. Ending the show Matt has rewatched Silent Hill for the first time in 15 years and realises sometimes it’s best to keep your memories intact when going back to older releases.  V/H/S/Halloween is available on Shudder worldwide now Follow us on Twitter @SHBPod Email us: [email protected] **Please take the time to review & rate us on iTunes or your podcast service of choice. Body horror is a genre staple and after a huge resurgence in the sub genre last year we get to discuss its latest entry in Together. Starring real life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie; this film tackles the ups and downs of fractured relationships in a way that only the horror genre can achieve. We also discuss Mike Flanagan’s return to film after 5 years and how The Life of Chuck is vintage Flanagan. Well, well well; if it isn’t a new episode of the show in 2025. We are back and couldn’t be happier to return with the film we are discussing this week. Zach Cregger flew onto the horror scene in 2022 with his outstanding debut film Barbarian and now he’s back with the insanely original Weapons. We have one of our longest individual film discussions in the show’s history and still feel like there’s more to talk about with this one. Ending the show we chat about what is next for Zach as he is tackling one of our favourite franchises across all media and set the new hype train going forward.  Weapons is available on digital services worldwide now Follow us on Twitter @SHBPod Email us: [email protected] **Please take the time to review & rate us on iTunes or your podcast service of choice. This is it. The big one. After many outside factors trying to take us down throughout most of December; we are finally here to chat about the year that was 2023. Certainly a year filled with highs and lows. The main event as always is our top ten where we rank and order the best horror films this year had to offer. We then give out our individual awards such as Best Death and see just how much TV dominated this year. And ending the show we have a big announcement regarding the future of this very podcast. Thank you for listening once again and we hope you enjoy this big finale podcast. With the final show of the year fast approaching we have time to squeeze in this very bizarre film we spoke about on the show many years ago. Once we heard about Sawtooth Jack we knew we wanted to see Dark Harvest and after numerous delays it is finally here. Was Jack worth waiting for? Let’s find out. Elsewhere this week; Thanksgiving and Saw are both getting sequels which makes us happy. Robert Eggers’ Nosfaratu gets dated for next Christmas. And ending the show we give some brief thoughts before our year ender on why 2023 hasn't been the best year for films.  Dark Harvest is available on streaming services worldwide now Follow us on Twitter @SHBPod Email us: [email protected] **Please take the time to review & rate us on iTunes or your podcast service of choice. This latest entry in the Hell House LLC franchise dropped on Shudder over the Halloween period and we’re glad we’re finally getting a chance to discuss it. We’ve really enjoyed this low budget found footage series over the years and were curious to see what this first spin-off film would be all about. Elsewhere this week; the only thing worth talking about is the seemingly collapse of Scream 7 and what this means for the future of the franchise. It’s a doozy and we have a lot of opinions about the whole situation. After a little break we are back with a film we’ve waited 16 years for. After a fake trailer as part of the Grindhouse experience back in 2007; we’ve long wondered what a feature length version of that ridiculous trailer would look like. Well wonder no more as we finally get to see if it was worth the wait or if it should have stayed as a silly fake trailer. This is also remarkably the first time we’ve ever covered an Eli Roth film for the main discussion on the podcast and it’s long overdue. Elsewhere this week; Black Mirror will be returning to Netflix. Mike Flanagan’s next film is NOT a horror film? And ending the show we discuss our love of Tremors and Rob Zombie.  Thanksgiving is available in cinemas worldwide now Follow us on Twitter @SHBPod Email us: [email protected] **Please take the time to review & rate us on iTunes or your podcast service of choice. Creepshow made its long awaited return to Shudder next month so it's about time we talk all about it. 2 years since the last season and Season 4 brings us vampires, ghosts, werewolf, monsters; just about everything horror related you could ever want. We give our verdict on this latest season and how it shaped up to previous entries. Elsewhere this week; Terrfier 3 is officially coming next year and is a Christmas slasher. And ending the show we somehow find a way to talk about Hellraiser yet again.  Creepshow is available on Shudder worldwide now Follow us on Twitter @SHBPod Email us: [email protected] **Please take the time to review & rate us on iTunes or your podcast service of choice. To officially round out October and spooky season even though I’m sure plenty will continue into November; this week we are chatting about the latest video game adaptations to make the jump to the big screen. This franchise has been around for a decade already and has a huge fan base around the world. How does its jumpscare formula adapt to a new medium? Let’s find out. Elsewhere this week; Mike Flanagan reveals the sensational cast for his new film. It Follows is getting a sequel after ten years. And ending the show we chat about one of the best episodes of Chucky to date that delivered everything this past week.  Five Nights at Freddy’s is available in cinemas worldwide now Follow us on Twitter @SHBPod Email us: [email protected] **Please take the time to review & rate us on iTunes or your podcast service of choice. It’s always a special occasion when we get to cover Mike Flanagan for this show and this one is no different. After The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass; surely he can’t produce another masterpiece as he bids farewell from Netflix for pastures new. We try to cover everything this show has to offer but we could honestly talk about it for weeks. Ending the show we talk about the greatest physical media release we've ever purchased and the latest episode of Chucky continuing to deliver the thrills this season.   The Fall of the House of Usher is available on Netflix worldwide now Follow us on Twitter @SHBPod Email us: [email protected] **Please take the time to review & rate us on iTunes or your podcast service of choice.
