Terry, Gary and Graham return for another Action Movie Landfill. This time the crew have unearthed the 1993 classic The Fugitive, starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones in this Chicago-based whodunnit/manhunt movie, based on the long running TV series from the 1960s.
The film is still regarded as a classic of the action genre and was nominated for seven Oscars, including best picture.

While They Were Bond — The Tailor of Panama
2026/08/07
-->
The Oddjob Pod continues its While They Were Bond series with Pierce Brosnan’s 2001 spy thriller, The Tailor of Panama.
Based on a novel by John le Carre and with a stellar ensemble cast including Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lee Curtis, The Tailor of Panama is a significant departure from the usual spy story we had come to expect from Brosnan’s Bond canon. We all thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck into this compelling drama.

Action Movie Landfill — Rush Hour
2026/07/05
-->
Terry, Gary and Graham dive back into the Acton Movie Landfill and uncover an action movie that did more than provide a sweet distraction for a couple of hours. Rush Hour was the focal point of an online phenomenon that has dominated cinema in the decades to follow.
There is also a wicked fight scene in a billiard hall.

While They Were Bond — Sean Connery in The Hill
2026/06/07
-->
Introducing our new series of podcasts: While they were Bond.
In this new series we look at the other films Bond actors starred in during their tenure as 007.
Our first episode focuses on Sidney Lumet’s extraordinary and harrowing wartime prison drama, The Hill, starring Sean Connery who by 1965 was anxious to be cast in roles very different to James Bond. He certainly got his wish with this outstanding yet deeply controversial telling of life for British soldiers in a North African prison camp during the Second World War.

Boobs and facism
Gary, Graham and Terry sign up for another tour of the Action Movie Landfill to dissect Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi action flick, Starship Troopers.
Opinions on the significance of this film differ among is cohort of fans. Is it a biting satire on fascism and the US military industrial complex or is it a fun action movie where guys dressing up like Nazis is just a costume decisions.
Does this film have a brain? Is it is intelligent? Would you like to know more? Listen to the podcast and make up your own mind.

Action Movie Landfill — Tombstone
2026/04/06
-->
The Action Movie Landfill is heading to Tombstone. AND HELL’S RIDING WITH US!
George P Cosmatos’ 1993 western, retelling that great mythologised tale of the Gunfight at the OK Corral has been fished out of the landfill for full evaluation and appreciation.
Tombstone had a troubled production and there are elements that unravel sufficiently to deny it a place as one of the greatest westerns of all time. That said, our esteem for this film has few limits so if you're down on this movie then you best discard your red sash and head for the hills.

Action Movie Landfill — Enemy of the State
2026/03/04
-->
The Oddjob Pod crew have emerged from the Action Movie Landfill clutching another nineties classic. Enemy of the State (1998) is a Washington DC political thriller about a rogue cell within the NSA who are on the hunt for a lawyer who has accidentally come into possession of a tape that incriminates a senior NSA figure (Jon Voight) in the murder of a senator.
A central theme to the film is the politics of surveillance and the limits of personal freedom in a democracy. The film co-stars Gene Hackman who also starred in the similarly-themed, The Conversation (1974). There are direct call-backs to that film in Enemy of the State.
The film also boasts one of the greatest cameo appearances in the history of cinema.

2026/02/04
-->
Want to feel old? The Goldeneye 007 video game for the N64 turns 30 next year.
This game is and remains one of the most celebrated James Bond games ever and represented a breakthrough for Nintendo and first-person shoot-em-ups.
In this episode of the OddJob Pod, Gary, Graham and Terry share our own personal recollections of Goldeneye 007 and explore its legacy. We also talk about the broader 007 gaming universe, what Bond movies we'd want to see adapted as a game and in which direction the James Bond games could go, with some interesting speculations.

Action Movie Landfill — Broken Arrow
2025/08/30
-->
The master of the podcast “rope-a-dope”
Gary, Terry, and Graham are back with another edition of Action Movie Landfill. This time, Gary has dragged out John Woo’s 1996 nuclear heist thriller, Broken Arrow.
Woo arrived in Hollywood with a reputation for high-octane Hong Kong action movies, and just a year later he’d cement his legacy with the classic Face/Off, once again teaming up with John Travolta. But how much does Broken Arrow serve as a warm-up for Face/Off — or is the stronger link to screenwriter Graham Yost, the man who wrote the script for Speed?
For just over an hour, the gang rummage through desert chases, pantomime villainy, Hans Zimmer guitar riffs, and the question of whether this film belongs in the landfill.

Old gags and deadbeat dads — Casino Royale (1967)
2025/04/29
-->
After reacting to news of the sale of control of the James Bond movie franchise, we spend some time on the 1967 screwball comedy adaptation of Casino Royale, a film that sits outside the official franchise and was received with little acclaim.
Gary, Graham and Terry reflect on the film’s troubled production which featured an all-star cast and five (yes, five) directors.

Action Movie Landfill — The Rock
2025/02/08
-->
The Oddjob Pod returns with another edition of the Action Movie Landfill.
On each episode of the Landfill, Gary, Graham and Terry fish out a DVD from the vast, imaginary pile of action movies from the sell-through era and decide if they shoud be placed on the shelf or returned to the landfill.
In this edition we have unearthed Michael Bay’s The Rock starring Ed Harris, Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery. Many Bond fans have looked at Connery’s character, John Mason, a retired SAS officer incarcertaed in the US for 30 years, and wondered if he is an alternate universe James Bond. The film-makers have been at pains to deny this.
In any event it is a film with much to admire and the Oddjob Pod trio spend a happy hour and a half ruminating on this 90s classic.

Spectre Island Discs — A James Bond musical special
2024/12/25
To celebrate Christmas 2024, Gary, Terry and Graham gathered to record a very special musical podcast. Don't worry we don't do that much singing, we leave that to the professionals.
In this episode, the Oddjob Pod team imagine they are stranded on a desert island with just six pieces of music from the James Bond films to keep them company while they await rescue or succumb to the anaconda nymph women.
Which tracks shall we choose? Listen to the podcast and find out. You can also check out Gary's, Graham's and Terry's picks on our YouTube channel.

The five stages of grief — No Time To Die
2024/06/30
-->
Our film-by-film review of all the Eon-produced James Bond films comes to a close with the latest release, the 2019 film No Time To Die, which was delayed until 2021 due to the pandemic lockdown.
Given its denouement, this film takes a somewhat darker tone the closer it gets to the conclusion. As Graham says, “It’s not your typical ITV4 James Bond film.” Like all Daniel Craig Bond films, this one has an emotional depth that is usually absent in earlier entries.
Given the uncertainty of the future of the character and the longevity of the intellectual property, we find ourselves wondering what will become of the franchise and ask ourselves: will James Bond return?

Action Movie Landfill — The Running Man
2024/04/15
-->
The Oddjob Pod crew are back at the Action Movie Landfill. This time is was Gary’s turn to fish out a dusty VHS, slot it into the machine and see if it’s worth keeping or chucking back on the pile.
His choice? An absolute doozy: Paul Michael Glazer’s distopian sci-fi actioner, The Running Man starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
