Advertise on podcast: Hey Julie! - Big Brother & Survivor Recaps

Brett & Danielle are back to react to Thursday night's BB28 finale, which Rick Devens took home the coveted BB double-crown: winner of Big Brother and America's Favorite Houseguest. We chat about his decision to evict Drew at Final 2, Taylor's strategic move in the game's final day, the jury questions, the pre-jurors and the idea of potentially, maybe beginning to think about sort of moving in with someone in the future at a to be determined time. Also, Brett updates on Survivor 51, Danielle has some UK Celeb Traitors thoughts, we both saw Primetime and a load of your listener questions. Big Brother 28 is in its final days, both Melody and Dee were sent home this week, but it feels most appropriate this week to talk about the future. With a final three of Taylor, Devens & Drew -- it really could be anyone's game with only six days left in the house. Brett & Danielle break down all the different scenarios, who won the first part of the three-part HOH and the case for all three remaining houseguests. Later, Brett shares a controversial moment from the premiere of Survivor 51 and Danielle raves about the cast of Traitors: New Blood. Plus, there's more laundry detergent talk, Costco strategy & more from your listener questions and submissions this week. If we told you on Wednesday night that Barrett and Yash would be the victims of this season's double eviction, you probably wouldn't be too surprised. But if you knew HOW they became the 3rd and 4th members of BB28's jury, your mind would simply stop working and your grip on reality itself would tear apart. Yes, MeloQUEEEN won both the BB Blockbuster and the HOH comp back-to-back in last night's double eviction, propelling her into a very interesting position in this Final Five with just 13 days left to go. Brett & Dani talk about Melody's surprise wins, Taylor's slipping hope to do anything in this game, Drew's weasel game and how this all seems destined for a Survivor player winning Big Brother for the first time. All that plus Lanterns, tide pods, butts & more. Follow Hey Julie on Bluesky and submit your questions @HeyJulieBB.bsky.social, our Discord server, or email us [email protected]! Barrett put Dee, Devens and Angela's heads on a platter and with Dee & Angela sitting on the block Thursday night, the house decided to flip against the remains of FAP and send Angela to the jury house. So either Taylor and Yash are the dumbest people alive or Dee is really just that good. Brett & Danielle react to the week that was in Big Brother, Dee's uncanny ability to save herself and why the Survivor winner may already be one of the best Big Brother players ever. Don't hate the player, hate the game! And she's gaming! We also reveal the latest HOH, their nomination plans and answer your Olivia Rodrigo-themed questions from our Discord. Brett & Danielle return after the 8th week in the BB28 game, which early saw the demise of Haley in the Medieval Times twist and late saw the eviction of LaTrice as she became the first member of the jury. Most importantly, we have a deeply spoiler-riffic (for six hours) conversation about the current HOH and their nominees, which upends the existing power structures of the house for the rest of the week and surely the rest of the season. Also, your questions, emails & a review of Chicken & Waffles Oreos. Thursday night's broadcast marked the special occasion of the thousandth episode of Big Brother and thanks to NFL preseason games, it may have been consumed live by up to a thousand whole people! Truly incredible work from America's favorite broadcast network, CBS. Brett & Danielle dive into the beautiful disaster that was Thursday night's episode, airing at random times across the country, featuring a strange award show of your favorite microwaved BB moments and deflecting the drama away from one of the most pivotal blockbuster competitions and evictions of the season. Magnificent stuff! All that and a BEVY of your Jerry O'Connell questions on this splendid episode of Hey Julie. Brett & Danielle return for a spoiler-filled episode about state of #bb28 – Kamu was sent home and **SPOILER** Dee is your new head of household. Like a few weeks ago, in the early hours of Haley's HOH – vibes were bad in the BB fandom. Brett & Danielle examine that feeling of 'all is lost', why it pops up when the majority alliance has hold of the game for so long, and why that feeling might be slightly less unfounded given the events of the last few weeks (Chukmu's exit, the dissolution of The Red Corner, etc.) We also chat about whether the Survivor players are taking too much of the oxygen this season, etiquette for making new adult friends at the playground & what sorts of ice we're making at home. This is the only Big Brother podcast that dares to tackle the big topics. All that, and your listener questions. Thoughts and prayers for Haley Thogmartin right now, who just had the worst week of her life. Brett has returned from his mystery hiatus and joins Danielle for a recap of the wild week that sort of was: the Angela/Haley fight, the Chuk's week-long mental short circuit and the Survivor veterans getting dangerously close to needing to fight for their lives. Also, they reveal the new HOH, their plans and why this season is taking on legendary 'old school' status. Also, your questions and emails! It's another Dani solo pod as she walks through the week's somewhat boring events that led to our first BLINDSIDE BUTTERBEANS of the season. It's a quick recap of all of the HG's current gameplay, SPOILER SECTION about who won the wall comp and what to expect, and more! Brett & Danielle recap a tea-soaked week in the Big Brother house. They look back at Mallory's Tea Party disaster, talk about the failed plot to save Jason, and why his open dealings with everyone couldn't save him. They also chat about Lyric's reformed gameplay in a post-Rome world, the walls closing in on Drew and Barrett and what the current HOH's plans are. Devens' backdoor plan on Rome worked in Week 2 of BB28 with a 12-1 vote against Florida's favorite loverboy. But his choice to pull down Lyric instead of Melody certainly was a less-than-efficient game move. Brett & Danielle discuss Devens' potential strategy mistake in Week 2, Lyric's all-flirt strategy, Melody's lack of game, Drew's precarious place & more on a Week 2 recap. Also on the show, your questions about catchphrases, BB Time Capsule voting, Young Sheldon doing the Wall Comp & more! The first eviction of BB28 is in the books. Poor Ashley was sent home with a burger in her stomach, some memories and nothing else. Our season's Gen-Z queen was all sizzle and no steak. Brett & Danille talk about Wednesday and Thursday night's episodes, the brewing Angela/Jason rivalry, the dynamics of the split house, whether we're experiencing FOUTTE 2.0 & more. Our early morning correspondent Danielle talks about the late-night feeds, the current HOH's plan and what we expect to happen over the weekend. It was a fun and informative first weekend of feeds, how about some more pod? Brett & Danielle check in on Monday night reacting to their first reactions of the live feeds. If Tuesday's Broveal was the first impression, and Thursday's premiere was the second impression -- call these our BB28 third impressions. We run through each of the 17 houseguests and talk about where we place their games after two episodes and a full weekend of live feeds. The BB28 premiere was...crazy, camp, messy and...good?! Brett & Danielle react to the absolute lunacy that was Thursday night's premiere episode, and they have to start with the end where Rachel Reilly was...thrown into a volcano by a velociraptor. Yes, that happened. We break down why Big Brother's turn towards the absurd has resulted in some positive momentum for the series, go through each houseguest's intro package and discuss where in the game Angela, Rick & Dee will fit in as "returners" with non-standard "returner" baggage. At the very end, a non-spoiler review of Olivia Wilde's excellent dinner comedy The Invite.
