YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING - The Cine-Files One Takes #7
2026/10/29
On this new episode of The Cine-Files One Takes, hosts Steve Morris and John Rocha ask "When is a documentary NOT a documentary???" in this 90 minute discussion, breakdown, analysis and review of YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING, the brand new documentary/narrative film on Elizabeth Holmes from directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. The film follows Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the defunct health technology company Theranos, and her partner Billy Evans, who invited a film crew to document them beginning in the weeks before Holmes began serving a United States federal prison sentence for defrauding investors. The film also features a massive twist in the middle of it that has critics and pundits already pushing for it to be the first documentary nominated for Best Picture Oscar. Steve and John go bone deep in this one exploring that is the truth here, what the film is saying about our society, what is the definition of "truth" anymore and if we do end up seeing everything...or nothing at all.

504 CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Part 1 with Special Guest Shannon McClung
2026/10/24
On this episode of The Cine-Files, hosts Steve Morris and John Rocha walk back into the world of the MCU to begind their breakdown of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR with special guest and Geek Buddy, Shannon McClung. One of the most revered films from the early phases of the MCU and one that certainly led MCU films to take sides as a member of Team Cap or Team Iron Man. The third installment in the Captain America franchise, it is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay by the writing team of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. It stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Marisa Tomei, Tom Holland, Frank Grillo, Martin Freeman, William Hurt, and Daniel Brühl. The film focuses on a disagreement over international oversight of the Avengers that fractures the team into two opposing factions—one led by Steve Rogers and the other by Tony Stark. The film grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide and became the highest-grossing film of 2016. Steve, John and Shannon go thru the back half of the movie scene by scene and break down why this horror lite comedy still holds up all these years later!

Bonus Short: So Bad It's Good?
2026/10/22
This week's short suggestion comes from Patron Jonathan Boes who asks about the joys of watching bad movies. Is it okay to watch a bad film just to laugh at it? Is that just a great way to hang out with friends or is it disrespectful of the filmmakers who probably worked very hard to make this particular disaster.
John and Steve go deep on this (and even touch on their long standing argument of Objective vs. Subjective. The truth is we're all drawn to some movies that might not be "good" and the reasons for those viewings can be all over the map. Maybe it's a stupid horror movie where you laugh at it as often as you are scared by it. Maybe its a dumb film from your childhood that you still have a soft spot for or maybe its just an unbelievable train wreck of a movie that becomes a true delight when combined with good friends and mind altering substances.
Needless to say, John and Steve have a lot of opinions on the subject.
HELP! (1965) - The Cine-Files One Takes #6 with Special Guest Scott Mantz
2026/10/21
On this new episode of The Cine-Files One Takes, hosts Steve Morris and John Rocha and special guest Scott Mantz dive in to discuss Help!, the 1965 British musical comedy-adventure film from director Richard Lester. It stars all four Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr) along with Leo McKern, Eleanor Bron, Victor Spinetti, John Bluthal, Roy Kinnear and Patrick Cargill. The film sees the three other Beatles struggle to protect Ringo Starr from a sinister eastern cult and a pair of mad scientists, all of whom are obsessed with obtaining a sacrificial ring sent to him by a fan. Though not as well regarded as 1964’s A Hard Day’s Night because of its silliness and wacky comedy, it does feature some damn good Beatles songs and was a precursor for a lot of the comedy we would later see from Monty Python and the Batman series with Adam West and Burt Ward. John, Steve and Scott look back on the film and discuss their feelings on it all these years later, when they saw it as kids, and what charm (or lack thereof) the film still has for them.

2026/10/17
On this episode of The Cine-Files, hosts Steve Morris and John Rocha finish off their trip back to 1988 in their celebration of the Spooky Season with Part 2 of their breakdown of BEETLEJUICE from director Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jones and Alec Baldwin. The plot revolves around Adam and Barbara Maitland (Baldwin and Davis), a recently deceased couple. As ghosts, they are not allowed to leave their house. They contact Betelgeuse (Keaton), a sleazy "bio-exorcist", to scare the house's new inhabitants away. The film prominently features music from Harry Belafonte's albums Calypso and Jump Up Calypso as well. A Halloween classic film that raised the profile of Michael Keaton one year before he played 'Batman', introduced Winona Ryder to the general public and made Tim Burton a household name. DEATH WISH (1974) - The Cine-Files One Takes #5
2026/10/01
On this new episode of The Cine-Files One Takes, hosts Steve Morris and John Rocha dive in to discuss 1974's DEATH WISH. Directed by Michael Winner, the film is loosely based on the 1972 novel of the same title by Brian Garfield and it stars Charles Bronson as Paul Kersey, alongside Hope Lange, Vincent Gardenia, William Redfield, Kathleen Tolan, Christopher Guest and Jeff Goldblum in his film debut. In the film, Paul Kersey (Bronson), an architect leading a peaceful life, resorts to vigilantism after his wife Joanna is murdered and daughter Carol Kersey Toby is raped during a home invasion. Steve and John discuss the movie, how it plays in 2026 and the criticism it has gotten for its apparent support of vigilantism and advocating unlimited punishment of criminals.

2026/09/30
This week's suggestion comes from Ryan Lieb who asks about the future of the MCU. After all, there has never been anything like the MCU, a connected universe spanning dozens of movies and TV shows with complex crossovers that need to generate billions in revenue, or the whole thing can come crashing down.
Now, with the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, the MCU faces its greatest test yet. John and Steve discuss the unique challenges of building a connected universe and what it means when the only way for a film to succeed is to break box office records.
