Our purpose is to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

2026-10-04 Ben Grisez Jeremiah 49.1-39 More Certain Than Death and Taxes
2026/10/04
Through the prophet, God spoke words of judgment against many nations that surrounded Israel. Despite the broad diversity of people and nations, we share in common a reckoning with the inevitable and inescapable judgment of God. Christians are most blessed salvation, forgiveness and eternal life is assured for all who trust in Christ.

2026-09-27 Ben Grisez Jeremiah 48.14-47 Judgment and God's Grace
2026/09/27
Through the prophet, God continued to speak of coming judgment upon Moab for exalting themselves above God. Being lifted up with pride would lead to a mighty fall, and this is a sobering warning for all who walk in pride. The only glimmer of hope proud sinners have for freedom, forgiveness and life is the God's grace and truth received by faith in Jesus Christ.

2026/09/20
After speaking of judgment God would bring upon Egypt, the LORD through Jeremiah addressed the Philistines and people of Moab concerning judgments He appointed for them as well. The Philistines would not be able to put up a fight, and Moab resembled wine settled on its dregs poured out as worthless. There is much in these passages for children of God to take to heart so we might be changed.

2026/09/13
Synopsis: Chapter 46 begins a compilation of God's judgments upon nations besides Israel, and the LORD singled out Egypt. Those who relied upon Egypt would be disappointed, for God would cause them to fall before the Babylonians. In the midst of God's judgment of Egypt there was hope for Israel, and this remains true for all those who trust God and submit to His will.

2026/09/06
The word of the LORD came to Baruch who experienced feelings of despair, weariness and could not find rest. God gently rebuked the scribe who sought great things for himself and promised to preserve his life despite adversity. How blessed we are Jesus has revealed Himself to us, for in Him we find rest for our souls.

2026-08-30 Ben Grisez Jeremiah 44.11-30 God's Word Stands
2026/08/30
Though God's people saw the destruction of Jerusalem as God's judgment for their sin, they continued to sin by going to Egypt and worshipping idols. Through the prophet, God promised to give them signs so they would know His word was true and would stand: troubles would persist and Pharaoh would die. Instead of doubling down on sin, may God's people believe and obey His word that endures forever.

2026-08-23 Ben Grisez Jeremiah 43.1 - 44.10 Have You Forgotten
2026/08/23
After Jeremiah spoke the word of God truthfully to the people, they proudly accused him of lying. Determined to go to Egypt contrary to God's command, the LORD spoke to them in Egypt of coming destruction. If they could forget their sin and dire consequences God brought as a result, it follows anyone can have a selective memory and sin against themselves due to pride.

2026/08/16
Synopsis: The remnant of Judah came to Jeremiah with a request he pray to God on their behalf so they might know what to do--and promised to obey regardless of what God said. After 10 days God spoke through Jeremiah and exposed the hypocrisy of His people who had no intention to obey Him at all. God has already spoken what is good, and as His people we ought to obey Him.

2026-08-09 Ben Grisez Jeremiah 41. 1-18 Fear and Returning to Egypt
2026/08/09
As predicted, Ishmael assassinated Gedaliah and killed worshippers who came to Mizpah. When Ishmael tried to flee to Ammon, Johanan and other captains pursued and found him in Gibeon and saved those taken captive. The chapter illustrates with gruesome detail how fear leads people into countless sins while our righteous Saviour Jesus is bold as a lion.

2026/08/02
Synopsis: After God brought doom upon Jerusalem due to disobedience, Jeremiah was released from chains and permitted to return to Gedaliah at Mizpah. Jewish people from all over flocked to Gedaliah who encouraged them to settle down and serve the Babylonians. Only Jesus knew the motives and agendas all people had, and our primary agenda as Christians is to heed and proclaim Him.

2026/07/26
Synopsis: Jesus uses the accounts of Jairus' daughter and the woman with the flow of blood to teach that God's timing is always perfect, even when it seems delayed from our perspective. This message reminds us that faith is not understanding God's timing, but trusting Him while we wait, knowing that He is always working for His glory and for our good.

2026/07/19
Synopsis:
Paul's farewell to the Ephesian elders reveals the heart of faithful Christian ministry and devotion to God's call to the minster of the Gospel. In a culture that increasingly pressures believers to remain silent, the scriptures call the Church to reject fear, proclaim the whole counsel of God, and fulfil Christ's mission with the boldness of the Holy Spirit.

2026/07/12
The Spirit of God working in conjunction with the Word of God changes lives to cleanse and revive. Like Jerusalem in Nehemiah's day, our lives can be like broken walls and no hope. But there is always hope as Jesus came to change everything, even things we can't imagine are possible.

2026/07/05
As God spoke through Jeremiah and the Law, the destruction of Jerusalem came to pass as a judgment for sin. King Zedekiah could not escape his pursuers who bound and blinded him, yet the word of God came to Jeremiah while he was in the court of the prison with words of comfort for Ebed-Melech because he trusted in God. In hard times, those who trust in God are most blessed.

Synopsis: As the siege of Jerusalem continued, the princes of Jerusalem received permission from the king to kill the prophet, whom they lowered into a muddy cistern. Ebed-Melech heard the news and went to his king who commanded him to take men and pull Jeremiah to safety. The fear of man caused Zedekiah to be like a man whose feet were stuck in mud. Only God whom we trust and obey delivers us from all our fears.
