In Exodus chapter 7 we see the beginning of the infamous 10 plagues. Plague #1 is turning the water of the Nile into blood - a direct assault against the Egyptian gods who control that mighty river. Yet, despite the evidence, Pharaoh refuses to believe. Many in our culture are the exact same way...

In Exodus 4-6 Moses returns to Egypt and (with Aaron) confronts Pharaoh with the instructions from the Lord. Predictably, Pharaoh doesn't take it well, but instead increases the burden on the Hebrew people. This week we discuss the spiritual implication of this for all of us as well.

In Exodus 3-4 we see Moses called by God (out of a burning bush) to become a Deliverer and lead His people out of Egypt. However - Moses can only respond with excuses on why he cannot do it. In the same way - God has called each of us into a new life of purpose. Will you and I respond with excuses?

We conclude our verse by verse study through he book of Genesis by highlighting Jacob's final prophecies to his sons in Gen 49. These 12 sons will become the future 12 Tribes of Israel and these prophecies will be fulfilled. Finally Genesis ends with the death of Joseph in chapter 50 and the family living in the region of Goshen in Egypt...

In Gen 48 we see Jacob on his deathbed making final preparations with his family. Jacob adopts Joseph's two sons as his own - adding them into the family inheritance. These sons of Jacob now total 14 in all and will become the future 12 tribes of Israel. However - as par the course - Jacob does not follow tradition - but reverses the birth order by blessing Ephraim over his older brother Manasseh.
