Scene Reports: Sound track for the Downfall: West German Punk (Part1) 1980-1984Using old “Vaultage” articles from Artcore Fanzine as a starting point, this is the second episode of “Scene Reports” featuring the historical punk scenes of a variety of countries. This time we focus on West Germany in the first half of the 1980s. Thirty-five bands and songs taken straight from old vinyl. This is by no means an exhaustive collection of West German punk, there are literally far too many to feature in one hour.Tracklisting:Upright Citizens, “Bombs of Peace”Vomit Visions, “Punks Are the Old Farts of Today”Toxoplasma, “1981”Beton Combo, “Aktion Übermensch”Aheads, “Minuteman”Razors, “I Hate”ZK, “Immer Wieder Besetzt”Hass, “Ihr Helden”Slime, “Yankees Raus”Chaos Z, “Alles Ist Grau”Neurotic Arseholes, “Razzia”Normahl, “Bourgeois Neighbours”Die Toten Hosen, “Wir Sind Bereit”Marionetz, “Ich Bin Ein T-Shirt”Blut+Eisen, “W.S.W.U.F”Bluttat, “Krieg Dem Krieg”Spux, “Hasenjagd”Canal Terror, “Glaubensbekenntnis”Daily Terror, “Leichenberg”The Buttocks “Deutsche Raus Aus”Inferno, “Wir Sind Schon Tot II”Malinheads, “Hoax”Herbärds, “Schweinebauch”ZSD, “Sex”OHL, “Russen in Afghanistan”Boskops, “Kein Text”Razzia, “Kriegszustand”Vorkriegsjugend, “08/15”Tarnfarbe, “Get Up”Maniacs, “Weltkrieg”EA80, “Sie Werden Nie Verstehn”Torpedo Moskau, “Inkonsequent”R.A.F.Gier, “Chemische Autarkie”Tin Can Army, “Dead Born Babies”Porno Patrol, “Jump Back”
Razorcake Podcast #965, When Horns Are Okay 52: The Dusk of the Dickheads with Ethan, Todd, and Tim

Yeppers. More punk and punk-adjacent songs with horns. And seriously, f**k the current Dickies.Since we’ve been doing laps on this track for a bit, we tend to go off on tangents when talking. Here’s the research to unanswered questions Ethan and Todd had after recording their talky bits. For all you Everybody Loves Raymond heads out there, the name of the documentary is called Exporting Raymond, which follows the series creator to Russia to help make a Russian-language version of the show, called Voronin’s Family. The show was an attempt to latch onto the crazy popularity of Everybody Loves Raymond in Russia. It didn’t go well. The Scud missile is one of a series of tactical ballistic missiles developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It was exported worldwide, especially to the Middle East and the Global South. Thanks, neoliberalism and kill chains. More innocent people will be dying for decades to come. What are equines besides horses? Zebras and asses. Not Ethan and Todd type of asses, but those small, sturdy animals about three to five feet high at the shoulder.Chiapas, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Chiapas, is one of the states that make up the thirty-two federal entities of Mexico. The Zapatista (EZLN) movement operated in the tradition of a long line of peasant and indigenous uprisings that had occurred in the state since the colonial era. In early November 2023, a treaty was signed by rebel Subcomandante Moises and EZLN that announced the dissolution of the Rebel Zapatista Autonomous Municipalities due to cartel violence generated by the Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation cartels and violent border clashes in Guatemala due to the increasing violence growing on the border. Our PSA this time around? This summer is more sentimental than previous ones. When I started playing in garage bands in 2006, I started going to backyard shows with generic emo-core bands that were more focused on getting signed to a record label than building a real connection and maintaining a DIY community in Southern California. The current music scene feels different. We have more bands who have embraced the do-it-yourself attitude by self-releasing their music and supporting alternative venues. Plus, many more up-and-coming bands are advancing the screamo/post-hardcore genre while fostering a more supportive and collaborative community. This podcast is a reflection of that journey, featuring songs that have defined my current summer alongside tracks that bring back memories of summers long gone.Enjoy-Christian VallesTracklisting:Death Ode, “I Have No Mouth, but I Must Scream” Self-titled EP (Self-Release)XmiseryisabutterflyX, “Salvaged” Demo (Self-Release)12 Aullidos, “Quiero Ser Invisible”, The Discography Album (Parade)Desgraciado, “Reacción Visceral,” Pidiendo Perdón Por Mis Deseos Inconscientes Sobre LaExtinción Del Ser Humano. Scene Reports: ...Lo Spirito Continua...: ‘80s Italian HardcoreWe used to call it “the scene.” Some people say it’s like people who fought the same war, but I find the word “war” far from appropriate. War is death and devastation, and people sent to die for some other people’s interests. What we did was full of life and joy, running away from a tamed death programmed for some other people’s interests. We were searching for a life of our own. Full of anger, but with a lot of laughs too. It gives me a warm feeling thinking about the way we trusted each other. One day we meet, the next time you come around you stay at my place. I guess it was too naive, it didn’t last long, but hey, it was great to be involved in it!-Roberto “Tax” Farano (Negazione) from Artcore Fanzine Issue 31, 2013.Tracklisting:Raw Power, “State Oppression”Putrid Fever, “Draw Of Fear”Declino, “Tutto Cio Che Mi Sai Dire”Wretched, “Spero Venga La Guerra”CCM, “Ultracore”Crash Box, “Morire Così”Fallout, “Sick City”Kina, “Grigio”Eu’s Arse, “Cibernauti”I Refuse It, “Noi Vi Odiamo”Impact, “Alienazione Sistematica”Upset Noise, “Vuoti”Rivolta Dell’odio, “La Danza Del Sangue”Rappresaglia, “U.S.A.”Warfare, “No Vivisezione”Pedago Party, “Lo Spazio Che Ci Resta”Indigesti, “Silenzio Statico”Stinky Rats, “Rifiuto”Peggio Punx, “Scema”Cani, “Quando Sarai Grande”Juggernaut, “Gun Gadin”Chain Reaction, “No Way Out”The Wops, “Hateful Town”Contrazione, “A Sud Di Torino”Traumatic, “Time Is Gone”Kandeggina Gang, “Sono Cattiva”S.I.B., “My Secret Life”Nabat, “Senza Soldi Senza Casa”Fun, “Come Voi”P.S.A., “Black Work”I Deny, “Non Per Me”Negazione, “Lo Spirito Continua”
