Episode 237: Oscars 2026 - Flix & a Whisk Part 6
2026/03/14
The gents’ are back in town for their 6th installment of Flix and a Whisk. Another hiatus broken, another gem in the books. Happy Oscar’s weekend everyone!
Episode 236: We Wake Up on a New Trail
2026/02/06
Trailers, trailers, trailers, plus Shrinking, a slew of what we're watching, and more. There's no mystery in this episode because wedunit. (We apologize for nothing)
The Basics
Flick — Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out MysterySix — New Trail Double Broken HeelsHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
Always a pleasure to be in Benoit Blanc's congregation. A provocative cast and dark religious undertones lead to a divine payoff. 8/10 — Anthony
Another worthy entry into the Blancverse with a strong lead performance and more sacriligeous jokes than a nun could shake a yard stick at. 7.5/10 — Al
Episode 235: We light the Fire and watch it burn Up in Ash
2026/01/16
Back with a blockbuster new release and a new guest. Our most audacious roundtable yet, plus some trailers for movies we're interested in for 2026, and more. Hiss, or hoot and holler, as you prefer.
The Basics
Flick — Avatar: Fire and AshSix — Newburgh Up the CherriesHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiPanel — Gianna Biolsi & Mike AccursoToot-length Reviews
Fire and Ash is Cameron's reheated pizza, still delicious, slightly charred, but the same thing we ate last night. 6/10 — Anthony
The blue and green (and gray?) people continue to look like the aforementioned people. The action and environments continue to look gorgeous and raise the bar. Let me know when Avatar 4: The Quest for Peace is ready. 8/10 — Al
Episode 234: We achieve our greatest Aspirations just like Superman
2025/09/23
We need to find a schedule related WD-40 to permanently prevent the rust we keep kicking off. But now that we're back, we discuss being back, Emmys?, RIP Robert Redford, and more. See you next week (maybe?).
The Basics
Flick — Superman (2025)Six — New(burgh) AspirationsHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
James Gunn's Superman strikes the right balance of being unmistakably his style without being overwhelming. Corny but strong performances honor the campy origins while carving out fresh territory. A solid jumping-off point for the Gunniverse. 7/10 — Anthony
Not quite as campy as the Reeves movies, and not half as brooding as the Snyderverse, this movie largely strikes a strong balance of tone, easter egg, plot, and character. So business as usual for James Gunn. 7.5/10 — Al
Episode 233: We hang out at the Mountainhead with a couple of Czig Meisters
2025/06/27
A trailer heavy news segment, a book heavy consumption. And a nice extension of the Succession-era billionaire f*****y universe. This episode isn't meager.
The Basics
Flick — MountainheadSix — Czig Meister Sunset SherbetHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
An uncomfortable, insane, and all-too-accurate portrait of the worst parts of the industry I'm married to. 7/10 — Anthony
Like snorting a season of Succession cut with a sprinkle of Death of Stalin. 8/10 — Al
Episode 232: We think it's a Blessing that we survived our Final Reckoning
2025/06/07
We've been back almost as many times as we've done episodes. We'll keep coming back. Our future is not yet fully written. We hope you choose to accept our podcast in your earholes.
The Basics
Flick — Mission: Impossible - The Final ReckoningSix — Millhouse Blueberry BlessingsHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
The return to the movies that I've been waiting for. Nothing short of a blockbuster*. 8/10 — Anthony
The most audacious Mission, if nothing else, and another wild ride. If this is the end, that works… if not, we’ll choose to accept another. 8/10 — Al
Episode 231: We think a Hop Splice sounds like A Real Pain
2025/02/09
Back in time to prepare for #OscarsSzn, we have some Star Wars stuff, a catchup and consumption sesh, and a streaming rant #IsItOnThe'C**k. You don't even have to make a pilgrimage to Poland to listen.
The Basics
Flick — A Real PainSix — Tin Barn Hop SpliceHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
An impossibly grounded portrayal of mental illness, its impact by proximity, and the lingering effects of generational trauma. 8/10 — Anthony
A heartfelt dramedy about two cousins trying to access familial pain and heal while hijinks ensue. 7.5/10 — Al
Episode 230: We are the Boss of Boulders with Deadpool & Wolverine
2024/11/01
Apologies for that title we were tire. Welcome back to Gianna as our first guest in a while. So many news. notes, nugs, etc. Some back feed. Say a little prayer for us
The Basics
Flick — Deadpool & WolverineSix — Newburgh Boulders BossHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiPanel — Gianna Biolsi
Toot-length Reviews
Ryan Reynolds and Wolverine is an entertaining romp but doesn't hold a candle to the OG 6/10 — Anthony
Somehow every Deadpool movie is exactly the same, and yet, completely different. I think that's a good thing. 8/10 — Al
Episode 229: We Aspire to be more than just The Fall Guy
2024/10/14
BEERFREST!! Finally it has come and gone. We recap that, plus everything we’re watching, an exciting new trailer, and much more. Give us a thumbs up to let us know you’re OK.
The Basics
Flick — The Fall GuySix — Newburgh Aspire BossHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
While the stuntman made the movie for his peers, he graciously lets us in on the joke. 7/10 — Anthony
What a silly little flick. The best balance of clever and stupid, with a cast willing to laugh at themselves, and the requisite stunts to match the premise. 7/10 — Al
Episode 228: We won’t let Civil War go Over Head
2024/09/27
Our first Thunderbolts trailer and a new Mike Schur show. And a third consecutive episode.
The Basics
Flick — Civil WarSix — Kane Over Head Imperial IPAHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
A fresh domain with the same DNA, Alex Garland follows his traditional MO: provoke thought. 7.5/10 — Anthony
A dark and sobering look, at a dangerous and thankless job (even if those not receiving thanks are a touch self-important), amidst the unthinkable happening, in a place where “it can’t happen here”. You know, unless we let it happen here. 7.5/10 — Al
Episode 227: We send our finest Falconers to hunt down Furiosa
2024/09/20
Two consecutive episodes?? In this economy? Enjoy it, and we’ll see if we can make it three. Our news of the week include closing the book on another saga: Movie Pass. Plus Mickey 17, Exodus, and more. Listen up you fabulous things.
The Basics
Flick — Furiosa: A Mad Max SagaSix — Czig Meister FalconerHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
Thanks to the annoying internet I went into Furiosa with low expectations and came out with high praise 7.5/10 — Anthony
I don't think you could outdo Fury Road, and this movie is wise not to try, in structuring this entirely differently than that movie. A cool project in this world, with slightly deceptive marketing, but these movies are meant to have a good time when they're not utterly depressing you. 7.5/10 — Al
Episode 226: We blow some Candles Out after banishing Beetlejuice
2024/09/13
A podcast! Very light on news, but what we've been watching and such since last episode, followed by a timely throwback review. Don't say his name too frivolously.
The Basics
Flick — BeetlejuiceSix — Charter Oak Candles Out NEIPAHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
Bizarrely unique 80s excellence, Beetlejuice is ever the entertaining ride. 8/10 — Anthony
The quintessential Burton experience? Macabre, funny, musical, and utterly ridiculous. And history shows Burton (Like Lucas and Jackson) should have never left his practical effects for the siren song of CGI. 7.5/10 — Al
Episode 225: We pass the Litmus Test on our discussion of Godzilla Minus One
2024/08/05
Forgive our rustiness after a month of sickness, hijinks, and a late start. We have old news, new news, and Folie a Deuxs. Plus an Acolyte round up and much more. Don't eject on this episode.
The Basics
Flick — Godzilla Minus OneSix — Newburgh Litmus Test Farmhouse SourHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
*If you have expectations for Godzilla Minus 1, abandon them. You couldn’t guess what you’re in for. 7/10 — Anthony
Sometimes back to basics is all you need, and a focus on character and story doesn't hurt either. 7.5/10 — Al
Episode 224: We get lost in a tangled Web of Rhubarb Pie
2024/06/24
Massive SGF news, Knives Out 3 casting and production, Severance and Blade, and more. Plus stay tuned after the movie for Acolyte at Night. Don't ruin everything we've built.
The Basics
Flick — Madame WebSix — Newburgh Brewing Rhubarb Pie Summer SaisonHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
Madame Web: a tangled mess of missed opportunities and lackluster storytelling. Wooden performances and stale visuals disappoint. 0/10 — Anthony
Worse than Morbius because at least Morbius tried to do a couple unique things and have a couple ideas (horrible ideas, but ideas nonetheless). Why does this movie exist? It's boring bad which is the worst kind. It's not even worthwhile as a CPR training video; The Office did that better too. 3/10 — Al
Episode 223: We think that while Broadcast News wants to serve us vegetables, we prefer Cookies
2024/05/31
Another classic older movie! Plus news on Spider-Noir, the Wickverse, LOTR, and more. Don't keep it to yourself.
The Basics
Flick — Broadcast NewsSix — Newburgh “I Hate Raisins" Oatmeal CookieHosts — Anthony Costanzo & Alessandro BiolsiToot-length Reviews
Charming and captivating yet devastating and poignant, an excellent example of movie magic. 8/10 — Anthony
A precursor to Sorkin's Newsroom, if the pendulum swung further from the ethics side to the heart side, with a dynamite trio of actors at the height of their powers. 8/10 — Al
