Hope in What Will Last
2026/10/05
Life is uncertain and full of troubles and that is not unique to our day. It is true of every age. The book of Revelation was written to encourage regular people struggling with the uncertainties and the troubles of life. When we hit those uncertainties and troubles we naturally look for someplace solid to stand, but when everything in this world is unstable and insecure, we must look for the city which is to come. In this sermon on Revelation 8:6–12, in which judgements are poured out on the earth, Pastor Luke Herche shows that judgment is a call to repentance, present world powers are passing away, and so we put our hope in what will last. Part of a series on the book of Revelation. From Sunday Worship, October 4, 2026. ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
Pleasing, Powerful Prayer
2026/09/29
There are often two reasons people don’t pray. Either we don’t believe that God hears or we don’t believe that God acts. Or, too often, we approach prayer as either materialists or magicians, thinking that there is nothing other than cause and effect on earth, or that if we can just get the right words or muster up enough faith then God has to do whatever we want. None of these are accurate pictures of prayer. Listen as Pastor Luke Herche preaches from Revelation chapter 8, showing that, despite what we tend to believe, in Jesus your prayers are pleasing in heaven, and your prayers are powerful on earth. Part of a series on the book of Revelation. From Sunday Worship, September 27, 2026. ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
Christ Will Bring Us Through
2026/09/21
The book of Revelation is a book of hope. It contrasts pictures of divine judgment with pictures of God’s care for his people in the midst of that judgment. Wars and rumors of wars, bloodshed, economic disparity, sword, famine, pestilence, wild beasts, death—these judgments on the earth are meant to lead all people to repent, to turn from trusting in this world which is passing away and to trust in Christ our solid rock. But what of the church in the midst of this? If Christ has given the world over to itself in judicial abandonment, what does that mean for us? Have we no hope in the present age? Is our only hope that one day all this will be over? Or is there some hope in the present even for today? Listen as Pastor Luke Herche preaches on Revelation 7, showing three things: if you are in Christ, you are protected by God; you will one day sing with angels; and Christ will bring you through. Part of a series on the book of Revelation. From Sunday Worship, September 20, 2026. ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
Christ the Perfect Son
2026/09/16
In one of the most difficult verses in all of Scripture, Jesus says you “must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” The standard could not get any higher. Jesus does not mince words, and he is not using a hyperbole. He wants his hearers to know that perfection is our calling. Listen as Pastor Josué Pernillo helps us to understand this challenging verse in four points: first, we are called to reflect our Father’s perfection; second, we try to be perfect in the wrong way; third, Christ, the perfect Son, gives us his perfection; and fourth, we are accepted and loved as children. From Sunday Evening Worship, September 13, 2026. ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
Keep Your Heart
2026/09/16
People were made to grow. This is true not just physically, but spiritually. When talking of the walk of the Christian faith, the expectation is growth, maturing in the faith. But how do we grow as a Christian? How do we keep from becoming stagnant and complacent? In this sermon on Proverbs 4, Pastor Josué Pernillo encourages us that we can grow, mature, and day by day become more like Christ as we learn what it means to keep our hearts. Listen as Pastor Josué explains in four points: We are to keep our hearts, but we struggle because there is a battle, so we fix our eyes on Jesus, and grow in keeping our hearts. Part of a series on the book of Proverbs. From Sunday Evening Worship, September 13, 2026. ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
You Can Keep Going
2026/09/08
It is not difficult to see that we live in an age of troubles. We daily hear of wars and rumors of wars, hunger, disease, natural disasters, death. Ours is not an age of peace and quiet and harmony and justice. But what do you do when your own troubles feel overwhelming? How do you keep going? In this sermon on Zechariah 1:7–13; 6:1–8 and Revelation 6, Pastor Luke Herche encourages us that we can keep going in the midst of our sufferings because Jesus controls the chaos, because we, the church, are called to suffer, and because judgement will come. Part of a series on the book of Revelation. From Sunday Worship, September 6, 2026. ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
To the Praise of His Glorious Grace
2026/09/02
It is instructive that the book of Psalms ends in praise. Everything that we do together on Sunday mornings and throughout the week ought to be for the praise of God, to glorify him, to delight in his goodness as our creator and our redeemer. Listen as RUF Campus Minister Ethan Brown preaches on 150, showing that, as the book of Psalms ends in praise, so all of history is to the end of praising God’s glorious grace. Pastor Ethan focuses his teaching on this Psalm into two main points: praising with the cosmic choir and praising for the right reasons. Commission and Benediction
2026/08/25
In this penultimate installment of a sermon series on our Worship Service (Rhythms of Grace), Pastor Josué Pernillo preaches on the Commission and Benediction, looking at Romans 12:1–2 and Numbers 6:22–27 and showing that we are sent out with God’s blessing to be a blessing. Offering Ourselves
2026/08/17
Giving is a part of our worship. Whether we pass the plate or drop money in a box or click a button online, it is a part of dedicating ourselves to our God. In this sermon on 1 Chronicles 29:1–22, Pastor Luke Herche focuses on the offering within our Worship Service, explaining the purpose of our giving, the model of our giving, the content of our giving, the manner of our giving, the source of our giving, and the result of our giving. The Lord’s Table
2026/08/11
In this sermon on the Lord’s Table, Pastor Luke Herche condenses 14 week’s worth of sermons into just 9 points: 1) The Lord’s Table is table fellowship. 2) The Lord’s Table is a covenant meal. 3) The Lord’s Table is a celebratory feast. 4) The Lord’s Table is a community supper. 5) The Lord’s Table is God’s gracious hospitality. 6) The Lord’s Table is a spiritual encounter. 7) The Lord’s Table is a holy banquet. 8) The Lord’s Table is pilgrim food. 9) The Lord’s Table is a rehearsal dinner. Him We Proclaim
2026/08/05
As we gather together to worship each week, the single longest element of our service is the sermon. Without it, we could get out of church a good 30 minutes earlier. Not to mention, preaching is seen by many as a tedious, moralistic, and condescending way to tell people what to do. So why, oh why, do we have a sermon? Continuing in a sermon series on our weekly Worship Service, Pastor Luke Herche comes to the sermon on the sermon. Listen as Pastor Luke preaches on Colossians 1:28, looking at the author of preaching, the act of preaching, the agenda of preaching, and the audience of preaching. Confession of Faith
2026/07/28
Do you want to be a deep person? A thoughtful person? It’s actually quite difficult, requiring time and practice and trial and, oftentimes, error. It’s not something you can learn from an article or a podcast or a book. It’s something you have to live out over time. In our weekly worship service, it is the Confession of Faith that calls us to be deep and thoughtful people as we consider what we believe and why. Listen as Pastor Josué Pernillo explains in this sermon on Exodus 13:14–16; 1 Timothy 3:14–16, highlighting two reasons we confess our faith together each week: we are witnesses to the truth of the gospel, and we are witnesses together with the church throughout the ages. Part of a series: Rhythms of Grace From Sunday Worship, July 26, 2026. ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
House of Prayer
2026/07/20
For many Christians, prayer feels a little like being the new kid in school: unsure of what to say and a little afraid to speak up. Prayer can sometimes feel empty, unnecessary, rote, awkward, boring, or scary. You read a prayer, but it feels inauthentic. You try to come up with your own words, and nothing comes. But what if, rather than inauthenticity or awkwardness or anxiety, you could draw near with confidence to God’s throne of grace and be sure to find the mercy and grace you need to help in your time of need? Listen as Pastor Luke Herche preaches on 1 Kings 8:22–53 and Isaiah 56:6–8, helping us think about our corporate prayer life under four headings: · Our Need for a House of Prayer · Solomon’s House of Prayer · The True House of Prayer · The Church as House of Prayer Part of a series: Rhythms of Grace From Sunday Worship, July 19, 2026. ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
Trusting God’s Word: A Matter of Life and Death
2026/07/17
The path we each walk between our birth and our death is filled with all kinds of trouble and sorrow and suffering. So how do we handle all of this pain? The world offers many methods to escape and cope, but to really deal with our sufferings rightly, we need a savior. The true meaning of suffering can only be found in Jesus Christ. In this sermon on 1 Kings 17:17–24, in which the widow of Zarephath’s son dies and brought back to life, Pastoral Intern Luke Lustfeldt teaches us that God’s grace will meet you in your suffering and he will strengthen your faith in the supremacy of Jesus Christ, which is the only real source of healing for our suffering. Listen as Luke unfolds this idea in three main headings: Crisis in Suffering God’s Grace in Suffering Faith in Suffering From Sunday Evening Worship, July 12, 2026. ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
The Beauty of Baptism
2026/07/16
God is at work among us at All Souls in all sorts of ways, including in baptism. Whether it’s covenant children being welcomed publicly into the family of God or teenagers and adults who have professed their faith in Jesus for the first time, witnessing baptism together as a church is a gift. Listen as RUF Campus Minister Ethan Brown preaches on the beauty of baptism, helping us to love the Lord who washed us and the Body to which we belong as we consider that we’ve been prepared as a bride and brought into the Body. Part of a series: The Rhythms of Grace. From Sunday Worship, July 12, 2026. ------------------------------- allsoulspca.org All Souls (Urbana, IL) is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Christian, Reformed denomination with historic and theological roots in the Protestant Reformation.
