Rockin' like it's 1989
2026/10/02
Ricky starts off the show with a cover instrumental.  If you want to add lyrics, let Ricky know!  He dives into the guitar recording process and talks about some practicing techniques.  He then plays his electric and lets you hear it isolated.  Ricky talks about buying CD's for the first time in about 16 years and is reminded of hearing a fully digital recording for the first time.  Ricky is not one of, those engineers.  Or is he?  Can you hear the difference between 48k and 192k?  Ricky then talks about the most important part of recording digitally, in his opinion.  Is production easier now?  Well, it depends.  Ricky explains his view on it.  He talks about the psychological effects of hearing high resolution sound.  This being live or recorded or both.  Finally, shotgun mics are mentioned.  Thanks for listening everyone and have a great October!  Spotify link:  https://open.spotify.com/show/1YEhhTTD9Y68PqvoQvWYQd?si=4YiP2w8-Smq77-yT0KmHcQ&nd=1&dlsi=43d35d21b1a34734
Fixed Up 5 String
2026/09/02
Ricky starts off this month's show talking about sharing things with you.  That being the ethical part of recording.  The purpose of the tally light is discussed.  Ricky also loves the built in privacy of his newest field audio recorder.  He then talks about his technique for alerting those on set, that he's recording.  What is that sound?  Do you hear that?  Ricky explains.  Adding a jet engine to your project is always a good idea.  He then talks about creative ways to capture real sounds for your project and the production process.  Practice patience and you'll be fine.  Ricky talks about thinking ahead when packing your gear for a project to be prepared for technical bugs.  Talking about this with you reminded Ricky of a memory of geeking out in a TV sports production and satellite uplink truck.  This was a good example of preparing for anything: 80,000 lbs worth of prep specifically.  Ricky then talks about his method of capturing on-set sound so that nothing is missed.  What the heck is a shotgun mic?  Ricky finally talks about his surprisingly and fortunately, non-stinky experience in North Georgia.  Thanks for listening everyone and check out the YouTube channel:  http://youtube.com/@rickyharrismedia
So you're telling me there's a chance
2026/08/01
Ricky starts off the show on the road with his friend that's a fellow car nut and actor, Ivan.  The guys talk about EV's and the cost comparison to gas cars.  A $1,000 a month??  Ricky and Ivan talk about the tech and head back into the studio.  Back in the studio, Ivan talks about playing the character Steve in a movie.  Ricky notices a part of his performance that was improved, and it was classic.  The guys talk some about stage acting and the dedication it takes.  Ivan gives a tip on memorizing lines, and getting into character.  The guys talk about extra roles, speaking roles and the likelihood of someone getting a speaking role as an extra.  Ivan gives advice on improving your acting abilities.  Ivan talks about some experiences on set and the hilarious situations that can happen.  Ricky talks about sugar glass.  Don't mess with that guy.  Thanks for listening everyone, and we'll be back in September!  Make sure to leave a comment and rate the show wherever you listen.
Everyone doesn't need to hear you pee
2026/07/01
Ricky starts off this relaxed, July 4th holiday show talking about a voiceover, that to this day, still makes him laugh.  What the heck is a mud bog?  Ricky explains.  He then dives into some how to talk.  Is your HDMI port not working??  I mean, watching TV is important.  Ricky Harris Media has you covered on TV repair as well.  Ricky went into these repairs expecting a mess, but it wasn't bad at all.  So give it a try; with proper precautions of course.  Ricky then makes some dumb jokes while talking about repairing his trashcan.  Next he talks about a really easy and free way to make a room sound good for recording sound.  Auto punch in audio production is discussed.  This makes recording your own performance really easy.  Ricky then plays an example of why it's best to assume a microphone is on.  While we're relaxing for the holiday, Ricky plays a clip from a TV weather segment that's a great example of the giggles, that just won't go away, no matter what you do.  Happy 4th of July everyone and if you listen on Spotify, make sure to leave a comment.  Seeya in August!  Listen on Spotify:  https://open.spotify.com/show/1YEhhTTD9Y68PqvoQvWYQd?si=4YiP2w8-Smq77-yT0KmHcQ

Don't think you have to be absolutely perfect with your music.  Committing to sound and staying disciplined is mentioned.  Ricky dives into possible vs. practical and makes a comparison of guitar recording to gas turbine locomotives.  Thanks for listening and see ya'll next month.
