Ryan desperately wanted to do three hours on the Copa del Rey final, which he was at, so there will be a Patreon show on Wednesday all about Real Sociedad’s first trophy in front of fans since 1987. However, Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Etihad on Sunday, so he and Musa focus their attention there for much of today’s show. There’s chat about what was a wonderful game, where both sides could feel lucky and unlucky on certain refereeing decisions, as well as lucky and unlucky on how certain chances fell.  There were obvious positives for Manchester City, who closed the gap to three points and who can go top if they beat Burnley this week. But, despite the understandable disappointment, there were many positives to take for Arsenal, who will be frustrated about not stealing a point at the end. Musa and Ryan begin with Union Berlin appointing Marie-Louise Eta as interim head coach of their men’s team until the end of the season (02:46). Eta becomes the first woman to take charge of a men’s team in Europe’s top five leagues, but is no stranger to the Union dugout, having already been a trailblazer for many years already. So, they chat about why the appointment makes so much sense and how it could pave the way for other clubs to do the same in the future. They then move onto the Premier League title race (15:05), after a weekend where Manchester City closed the gap on Arsenal, following the Gunners’ home defeat to Bournemouth and City’s win away at Chelsea. And not to say Ryan’s taking it badly, but he did volunteer to go to the moon and has talked about starting a golf podcast. Down the other end of the table, it got worse for Spurs, as they slipped into the relegation zone on Friday night, thanks to West Ham’s impressive win over Wolves, and stayed their following their own defeat to Sunderland. This weekend’s FA Cup featured some very special moments and Musa and Ryan are joined by Aniefiok Ekpoudom to focus on Southampton reaching Wembley for the semifinal (02:29), following their win over Arsenal at St. Mary’s. Aniefiok is a Southampton fan and was there on Saturday to witness one of the highlights of an interesting season for Saints, in which they are also celebrating 50 years since they won the FA Cup. They then shoutout Leeds’ penalty shootout win over West Ham (34:29), which saw them into the semifinals for the first time in 39 years, plus big wins for Chelsea and Manchester City (45:44). With the threat of relegation now very real for Spurs, while also being set to hire their third manager of the season, they chat about what they do next and whether this is fixable in the short term. It feels like we say this almost every week, but it was another big weekend, so Musa and Ryan begin by shouting out Japan’s win in the Women’s Asian Cup final, before heading to Wembley. Pep Guardiola became the most successful manager in League Cup history, thanks to Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday (04:57). There’s chat about Guardiola getting it right and what impact it will have on the rest of the season. Elsewhere in England, there was a huge Tyne-Wear derby (30:32), as well as Nottingham Forest winning the six-pointer at Spurs and great wins for Everton and Brighton. With huge results up and down the table, as well as a record broken in dramatic fashion, it felt like the biggest weekend in the Premier League season so far. Musa and Ryan chat about Arsenal’s win over Everton, where Max Dowman came on, changed the game and became the Premier League’s youngest ever goalscorer, in a late 2-0 win. It was made even more important due to West Ham and Manchester City’s 1-1 draw, which was a huge result for Nuno Espírito Santo, but a costly one for Pep Guardiola. The same scoreline happened at Anfield, where Spurs equalised late against Liverpool, to stop their losing streak. Musa’s on his travels, so there’s a bit of chat up top about him leaning into a Stadio bit. Then he and Ryan chat about this weekend’s FA Cup fifth round (07:17), which saw another amazing result for Port Vale, who knocked out Sunderland. They begin with Arsenal’s 4-1 win at Spurs in the North London derby (03:53), which saw them maintain a five point lead at the top of the Premier League. The Derby d’Italia this weekend felt crucial in the race for this year’s Scudetto.  Musa and Ryan chat about Inter leaving it late to beat Juventus (05:03), who were down to ten for the entire second half at San Siro, after a very controversial second yellow for Pierre Kalulu. It took a brilliant winner from Piotr Zieliński to win the game and send Inter eight points clear of the top, thanks to Napoli’s draw with Roma.  In the middle of all that, there’s a big detour about manager’s first touches and player showboating (17:39), before chatting about Igor Tudor becoming the Tottenham Hotspur men’s interim head coach (34:53).  Finally, there’s a round-up (45:33) featuring La Liga, Bundesliga, FA Cup, a rare case of a spiritually onside goal actually counting and Mo Salah doing his bit for content. Apologies for the late show today, but we’re finally here to chat all about another big weekend in the Premier League title race, which saw Manchester City come from behind to win away at Liverpool, for only the second time under Pep Guardiola.  After shout outs for the WSL, PSG v Marseille and a few other results (04:21), Musa and Ryan head to Anfield (11:23), which saw another unbelievable free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai give Liverpool the lead, a great comeback and the world being cruelly robbed of one of the silliest goals of the modern era. That meant the gap was the same at the top as before the weekend, following Arsenal’s impressive 3-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday (30:52). Elsewhere, Aston Villa dropped more points, Manchester United may never lose again, Crystal Palace ended their winless streak and Cole Palmer scored another first half hat-trick. In Germany, Bayern and Dortmund teased a title race (48:13) and St. Pauli got a much needed win. Musa and Ryan begin this week with a huge game in the WSL, where Manchester City opened up an 11-point gap at the top after their 5-1 win over Chelsea. Arsenal, meanwhile, beat Corinthians in extra-time, to become the winners of the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup. Then, it’s onto the Premier League, where there was a true game of two halves that saw Spurs and Manchester City play out a 2-2 draw (10:24) and an incredible Dominic Solanke goal, while Aston Villa lost at home to Brentford, who played out the entirety of the second half down to ten. It was the Stadio derby this weekend, with Manchester United beating Arsenal in the league at the Emirates for the first time since 2017. Musa and Ryan chat about a game that continued the good vibes around Michael Carrick's appointment, following up last week’s Manchester derby victory, thanks to two unbelievable goals from Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha (03:27). They also look at it from the Arsenal perspective, their attacking issues and the differences between the recent league and cup performances. Senegal are winners of the AFCON for the second time!  Musa and Ryan begin with one of the most dramatic and astonishing international finals of all-time, which saw Senegal beat hosts Morocco in extra-time in a game that saw incredible drama and an amazing winning goal (03:24). They then move on to Manchester United’s 2-0 win over City in Saturday’s derby (27:29), as well as Michael Carrick’s appointment as head coach until the end of the season. There's discussion about the reaction to the appointment, how free United looked against City, whether this is a sign of things to come or if this is another example of something fans have seen before.
