Revisiting the free tools that come with devices and operating systems
2026/09/07
We often forget about all those apps that come with our devices and operating systems. We also find a tool and stick with it, never going back to see if the latest update to an OS now has features that make our extra apps that we pay for no longer needed. Some thoughts in this episode on going back to the free tools that come built-in and saving money and some times, the pain of managing 3rd party applications. Getting feedback on your apps and games
2026/08/09
In this episode of the PW Podcast, I dive into the challenges of getting reliable software feedback. I argue that friends and family, while well-meaning, rarely give truly honest critiques. Instead, I recommend finding testers from relevant communities with people who actually care about your app or game's niche. It is also important to repeat feedback cycles, pushing updates back to the same testers and weighing results carefully against your original vision. The key takeaway: the right testers make all the difference. My itch.io pagehttps://pwitham.itch.io Contact mehttps://peterwitham.com/contact ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Stop Forcing AI Disclosure in Creative Work
2026/07/01
In this episode of the PW Podcast, I vent about how frustrating it is that creators and developers are increasingly being forced to disclose whether they used AI and how they used it. I’m not against AI tools, I use them. But I don’t believe anyone should have to justify their process or check a box on platforms just to ship a product. I compare it to not demanding a baker list their oven or a mechanic list their tools, arguing what should matter is the end result, not the method. I also call out the elitism of people who brag about not using AI while shaming others. This was sparked by my new game MooFO, where I used an AI-generated menu image because it was better than what I could create. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Apple Developer Conference WWDC 26, early takes
2026/06/08
WWDC Highlights: Bug Fixes, Liquid Glass Tweaks, Xcode 27, and Intel’s Farewell I share my first impressions from WWDC week, focusing on the big themes: bug fixes, performance improvements, and fewer flashy new features. I cover the updated Liquid Glass look (including adjustable transparency), a long-needed iPhone option to set alarm volume independently, and a macOS UI change that reclaims wasted sidebar space. For developers, I highlight major Xcode 27 and API updates, including new foundation models, more AI integrations, and the ability to set Xcode themes per project. I also note that macOS 27 “Golden Gate” drops Intel support, making Xcode downloads about 30% smaller, plus new trust and safety controls for kids’ accounts and device usage. 00:00 Welcome and WWDC Week 00:38 Big Theme Bug Fixes 01:09 Liquid Glass Tweaks 01:45 iPhone Alarm Volume Win 02:29 Mac UI Space Fixes 03:10 Developer Focus Xcode APIs 03:24 Siri AI and Gemini 04:12 Dropping Intel Support 04:57 Xcode 27 Smaller Download 05:51 Xcode Themes Per Project 06:51 Hands-On Xcode Settings 07:09 Trust Safety and Wrap Up 08:14 Final Thoughts and Outro Support this podcast by buying me a coffee ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

2026/05/16
In this episode, I'm sharing some big updates across my apps and games. First up — my Job Finder Tracker app is now available on Android! It helps you manage your job search, track applications, follow up on leads, and attach multiple resumes to each listing. I'm really proud of this one. https://peterwitham.com/mobile-project-job-search-tracker I'm also making serious progress on the PVP mode for my Project Hack game — player-vs-player hacking is working and nearly ready for public testing. And finally, I'm weighing whether to move into video podcasting. You should own the media you pay for!
2026/03/21
Are you really owning your media? In this episode, I share why I'm ditching streaming services and going back to physical media — DVDs, CDs, and even MP3 players. From music that gets swapped out without your knowledge to digital purchases that just disappear, the illusion of ownership is real. Plus, I'm bringing the cloud home with self-hosted services. Let's talk about taking back control. Buy me a coffee to support this Podcasthttps://www.peterwitham.com/bmc ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Prototyping with simple on-screen elements
2026/03/06
I'm diving into why starting with simple on-screen elements is crucial for app and game development. On a recent live stream, I worked on my UFO cow-abducting Roguelike using basic cubes and shapes instead of fancy graphics. This approach lets me focus on core features, workflows, and how the game actually feels to play. Once I validated the concept and mechanics, I started replacing those simple elements with polished assets. Social Networks and me, where did the content go?
2026/02/16
I've given up on all social media platforms—they're drowning in AI-generated slop and clickbait. It's heartbreaking because I'm missing genuine connections with friends and colleagues, but wading through the garbage isn't worth it anymore.  Save your sanity: quit doom scrolling and rethink who you follow. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

I'm also committing to better documentation, so I don't waste time remembering where I left off. Plus, I'll be sharing my app marketing research soon. It's about making sustainable progress without burning out. Follow me at peterwitham.com ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
