112 - Violator, or: The Lorax: First as a lamb, then as a lion
2026/09/14
Returning guest Degan joins the lads as they ostensibly discuss Depeche Mode's near riot-inducing breakthrough Violator. But they're really here to talk about the Lorax, and in particular, its lifespan. Also it's discovered that Jim may have been playing 3D chess this entire time. Either way, there are bodies 600 feet down and suspended up in the still waters of the Rockies. Sleep well!
111 - So, or: Tooth Problems
2026/08/17
In this episode, the guys continue their birth-year album series with Peter Gabriel’s 1986 breakthrough album, So. After some opening chaos involving dental anxiety, canned bread, unsettling ultrasound images, questionable baby names, and the announcement that Jim is going to be a dad, the conversation eventually turns toward one of the defining pop records of the 1980s.They break down the album’s massive production, stacked lineup of musicians, world-music influences, unforgettable videos, and lasting impact on modern pop. The group debates whether Gabriel’s lyrics live up to the music, while choosing favorites including “In Your Eyes,” “Red Rain,” and “Sledgehammer,” along with their least-favorite tracks, standout musical moments, and comparable albums from the era.Despite a few disagreements, all three land on the same score: a strong 8 out of 10, praising the album’s musicianship, dynamics, layered production, and surprising consistency nearly four decades later. The episode closes with a characteristically loose and argumentative countdown of their favorite ’80s hair-metal songs.
110 - Purple Rain, or: They should make a knife house
2026/06/30
Patrick got the sniffles and then a tummy ache but OMYAC is BACK this month with part 2 in our installment of "albums from the year of our birth": Prince's 1984 smash hit "Purple Rain". Goofs are had, games are played, and who knows... maybe we'll make some friends along the way.
109 - After the Snow, or: Christian Dish Doing
2026/04/03
Well, it's finally happened. Patrick heard a part of an album that made his dishwashing in a manner we can charitably call sinful. Jim is busy talking about watching cheese melt while Christopher attempts to rein them both in to discuss Modern English's 1982 album "After the Snow". The gang is joined by Jessica and Blake from the Nailed podcast to parse through the album as well as discuss a difficult top five and play a rousing round of The Maynard Constant, er, The Reznor Regulation.
108 - Leviathan, or: "The Fish Was Fine"
2026/03/09
In this episode of Old Men Yell At Cloud, we dive headfirst into the crushing waves of Mastodon’s 2004 masterpiece Leviathan. Inspired by Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick, the album is a relentless concept record packed with thunderous riffs, chaotic drumming, and some of the heaviest storytelling in metal.
We break down what makes Leviathan such a landmark release—how Mastodon fused sludge, prog, and hardcore into something that felt completely new at the time. Along the way we talk about the band’s early era, the insane musicianship (looking at you, Brann Dailor), and the tracks that still hit like a harpoon twenty years later.
Was Leviathan the moment Mastodon became metal’s most interesting band? Does it still hold up as one of the greatest concept albums of the 2000s? And why does this record feel like getting dragged into the ocean by a very angry whale?
Grab a drink, crank the volume, and join us as we yell at the cloud about riffs, whales, and one of the most ferocious albums of the 21st century.
108 - Breakfast In America, or: "Which Is The Proper Steve"
2026/02/04
Kippers for breakfast? In OUR America? It's more likely than you think! That's right, the old OMYAC boys have convened to discuss Supertramp's 1979 smash hit "Breakfast in America". Fun is had, games are played, and points are duly rewarded.
107 - Entertainment!, or; Nobody Doesn't Like Sara Lee's Turkeys
2026/01/01
We begin our new three part series “Guess who died 2025” with Gang of Four's 1979 post-punk classic "Entertainment!" (RIP Dave Allen). In this particularly riveting episode, we discuss what time, exactly, is the best time. Is it 5:45pm? Is it 9:45am? Some other time that doesn't involve 45? Who knows! We also discuss Sara Lee's product line, are visited by a magical vacuum, and Christopher introduces a new segment called The Maynard Constant (or Maynard In The Middle). It really gave us all meegraine.
Hey remember when Sharon roasted that pie? You remember 2021, right?

105 - i/o, or: Ass To The World
2025/11/04
Yes that's right, them OMYAC boys are up to more mischeif tonight as we delve into the 2nd installment in our "legacy album" series with Peter Gabriel's most recent 2023 release "i/o". We also manage to find time to talk about other culturally important records like Bez's Madchester Anthems and (the other) PSB's "Ass To The World", naturally.
104 - Songs Of A Lost World, or: Simon Didn't Say
2025/10/01
We're back again for October with a seasonably appropriate pick, The Cure's 2024 comeback album "Songs Of A Lost World". A critical and commercial success, how will it fare when applied to the OMYAC filter? If they can stop talking about woods porn and the Static Family Tree, maybe we could get an answer. Until then: courage!
103 - Load, or: Until It Stinks
2025/09/02
OOOOooooh YEA! The boys get together to discuss Metallica's 6th Studio album, Load (Not to be confused with Reload). Christopher talks about breaking stuff just the way Freddy Durst would have wanted it, Jim talks about the wrong album, and Patrick shares his thoughts on late-night car rides.
102 - The Stranger, or: Hawk House
2025/08/01
The OMYAC Boys are back once more to discuss Billy Joel's 1977 smash hit "The Stranger". We also delve deep into hard-hitting topics such as waking up with arm numbness, New Jersey clown licenses, and complaining about our new interns Steve Fitzgerald and Jim's Penis.
101 - Turn On the Bright Lights, or: Man and Dog relieve themselves at Wawa
2025/07/01
We're back from hibernation! Jim hasn't bathed in the interim. Today we discuss running batteries on beer with our good friends at Li Time (not a sponsor), Matter Eating Lad, the Stink of Bridgeport, and even the mysterious circle shaped sandwiches of Alvin Ord's. The mascot is a little monk. It's a weird company. Enjoy!

2022/10/25
Birthday boy! Birthday boy! All hail the birthday boy! We're back for a Jim-selected birthday bonus featuring.... who else? Steven Wilson. Let's all gather around and check out his first solo album, Insurgentes, released in 2008.

Happy Birthday, Jim.
Yes, there is thoughtful discussion of music spanning several decades and genres, but to be honest, I’m still here for the anecdotes about New England...

Three idiots review music and talk McDonald’s
For a music podcast there’s a lot of McDonald’s talk going on here. I mean whatever, I’m all for it. Very funny.
