Why I’m Closing the Put Yourself First Sisterhood After 6 Years
2026/10/19
The Put Yourself First Sisterhood closes at the end of 2026. In this episode I’m telling you how it started, what the women inside went on to do, and the part I was most scared to say out loud: what it felt like to choose to close the thing I’m best known for.
In this episode:
Where the Sisterhood began, and why the first women asked me not to stopWhat the women inside created, from moving across the world to speaking up without shakingHow the way women access personal development has changed in 6 yearsThe real risk of closing something that works, and why I did it anywayWhy an ending and a beginning can arrive on the same dayIf you’ve ever walked away from something good to build something truer, this one’s for you.
Something new is coming in January 2027.

The Hardest 2 Months of My Life - Grief, Half Marathon + What's Next
2026/10/12
Trigger warning: This episode talks about grief, death and end of life care.
Ladies, I haven't come on here for a proper chit chat in a while. So grab a coffee (or a glass of wine, no judgement) because this one is a catch up.
2026 has been the best and worst year of my life. I married Adam on 20 June. On 31 July, his mum Diane passed away after a brutal, fast battle with cancer. Same summer. Same year. The duality of life is real.
In this episode, I'm sharing what the last 2 months have actually looked like.
What we talk about:
The highest high and the lowest low in the same summerThe story of coming home from Italy to see Diane, and why I believe she held on until we got backWhat it was like to be there in her final moments, and why it felt like a portalEasing back into work in September and finding the balance in grief (there is no right way to do it)The women in my community who showed up with voice notes, cards and flowers, and what that kinship in grief meant to meRunning my first half marathon on 4 October for The Christie, the cancer centre that treated Diane earlier in her lifeHow the race really went: under trained, quad cramps at 16.5km, electrolyte mistakes and hyperventilating over the finish line like a toddler mid tantrumRunner's flu, the lessons running has taught me about self belief and rest, and why I'm going back to parkrun for the next 6 monthsWhy the hardest moments can be fertile soil for what comes nextThe feeling I had in 2019 when I launched my first group programme, and why I'm feeling it again
Big news: Something major is changing in my business in 2027. It feels like a fresh start. I'll announce it properly on the podcast next week. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll hear before then.

What Season Are You In? Real Women's Takeaways From Put Yourself First Live
2026/10/05
In September, I hosted my 5th annual Put Yourself First Live, and this week I'm sharing the 3 biggest takeaways from the women in the room.
In this episode, I cover:
Knowing your season: why the season you're in (growth, rest, recovery, whatever it is) determines your capacity, your boundaries, and what you can realistically expect from yourself right nowThe power of guided reflection: why I'll keep banging on about looking back and celebrating how far you've come for decades to come, and how you can create that space for yourself even without an event to go toThe value of real community: what it means to be in a room (or an online space) full of women who just get it, and why putting yourself out there into new communities, even when it's uncomfortable, is so worth itI also share a little hint about something new coming in my world in 2027. Head to Instagram to be the first to know more.

You've Had the Lightbulb Moment. Now Do Something About It.
2026/09/28
This week I'm talking about the gap between understanding something and living it. Why that lightbulb moment feels so good, why it can leave you more frustrated when nothing changes, and the question I'm happy to be unpopular for asking every client.
In this episode
Why awareness feels so good (hello, dopamine) and why it's not the same as a shiftMy teacher's pet confession, and why even I'm not immuneHow the hardest working women can still get caught in thisWhy understanding your patterns can leave you more resentful and more stuckThe difference between knowing you're a people pleaser and embodying a woman who puts herself firstWhat a client told me about why she keeps coming back to work with meWhat women need instead of more to consumeWhy even I block out study days a month in advanceHow your habits decide what your life looks like in six monthsThe question to sit with
Once you've had the reflection and the understanding, ask yourself: and now what are you going to do about it?
Something big is coming
I'm building something new, and it comes straight from everything in this episode. Sisterhood members will hear first. Everyone else, I'll announce it here at the end of October.

Rebuilding Your Life When Everything's Changed
2026/09/21
This one's for the woman rebuilding herself right now. Maybe you're coming out the other side of grief, a breakup, a job loss, or just a proper existential "what the hell am I doing" moment. Maybe it's not an ending at all, maybe it's a beginning: a new place, a new job, a new chapter you didn't see coming.
I'm sharing this from the middle of my own rebuild. Adam's mum passed away this summer after a short and brutal battle with cancer, and life has looked nothing like what we thought this year would be. I've been in proper survival mode. But I've turned a corner, and I'm ready to get my spark back.
In this episode I'm talking about:
Why the instinct to fill your diary with admin and plans isn't actually rebuilding anythingThe one question I asked myself (and Adam asked me) that cut straight through the overwhelmWhy trying to be everything to everyone right now is keeping you stuckThe two simple rituals I've gone back to that ground me before I even open my laptopWhy your alone time deserves the same reverence you'd give your closest relationship, and what happens when you skip itThe "f**k it" permission slip I'm giving you to be a bit more selfish for a whileIf you've been the one doing the most, the over-giver, the over-functioner, this episode is your nudge to put yourself first and fill your own cup back up.

Stop Absorbing Everyone Else's Comfort
2026/09/14
Here's something I say to almost every client I work with: you are so much more comfortable with your own discomfort than you are with someone else's.
You'll stay late at work instead of protecting your evening. You'll hold space for a friend when you've got nothing left to give. You'll bite your tongue with your partner instead of rocking the boat. All so someone else never has to feel even a flicker of inconvenience.
In this episode, I'm naming that pattern and asking the question that flips it on its head: can you get comfortable with someone else's discomfort for once, instead of always absorbing it yourself?
What I cover in this episode:
The pattern itself, and the three places I see it show up most: at work (staying late instead of holding your boundary), in friendship (holding space when you've got no capacity left), and in relationships (biting your tongue to avoid an argument, instead of saying the true thing).
Why this isn't noble. It's self-abandonment. You're not being kind, you're managing everyone else's comfort at the expense of your own needs, your yes, your no, your truth.
Why boundaries feel so hard to hold. At the root of it, a boundary asks someone else to inconvenience themselves in some way, and most women would rather sit in their own exhaustion than let someone else sit in that discomfort, even briefly.
The reframe I want you to sit with: inconvenience is the price of community. Reciprocal relationships need both people to be inconvenienced sometimes. If you're always the one absorbing it, that's not community, that's imbalance, and it will eventually break.
The question I leave you with: why do you let others receive that ease and reliability from you constantly, but won't let yourself receive it back from them when you genuinely need it?
My challenge for you this week: find the one relationship in your life where you're always the one absorbing the discomfort, and get curious about what it would feel like to let someone else carry a bit of it instead.
If this episode stirred something up in you, or felt like a bit of a call-out, DM me on Instagram and let me know - https://www.instagram.com/kat_horrocks/

Roommate Energy: The Secret Relationship Killer (And What's Really Underneath It)
2026/08/31
Free Workshop Signup Here > https://www.khorrocks.com/workshop
You know the caveat by heart. "My partner's amazing, he does so much, he never says no when I ask." And yet I still feel like the manager of my household, still feel more like his mum than his lover, still feel like nothing gets done unless I remind him.
In this episode, I'm unpacking roommate energy, one of the quietest, most common relationship killers, and why it has nothing to do with how good your partner is.
In this episode, I cover:
Why "he always says yes when I ask" is masking the real issue, the invisible weight of noticing, delegating, reminding, and following up on everythingThe difference between the practical mental load and the emotional load, and why so many high-achieving, self-aware women (therapy, podcasts, attachment work, the lot) still feel stuck in the same dynamicThe "awareness trap": why understanding your patterns isn't the same as changing them, and why insight alone hasn't shifted my relationship, or maybe yoursThe uncomfortable truth that frustration isn't only directed at your partner, it's often directed at yourself, for tolerating what you said you wouldn'tWhy intimacy quietly disappears under roommate energy, and what it actually takes to get the spark, the connection, and the "life partners again" feeling backPractical permission slips: what it can look like to stop asking permission, let him figure it out, and reclaim your time and energy, starting todayWhy this work always starts with your relationship with yourself first, not with fixing him or the relationship directly

Why Decentring Men Will Strengthen Your Relationship (Not End It)
2026/08/24
Register for the workshop - https://www.khorrocks.com/workshop
Say "decentring men" and most people picture single women, healing, done with dating. But what happens when you're married? When you're in it, and you love him, and he's a genuinely good one?
This week I'm making the case that decentring men matters more once you're partnered - not less. Because the sneaky version isn't the dramatic breakup. It's the quiet, years-long slide into building a whole life around him without ever noticing you did it.
I'm talking through why this hits hardest for women carrying shared responsibility - the joint mortgage, the joint calendar, the "who's picking up the kids" of it all - and the exact ways it shows up: the permission-asking, the disappearing hobbies, the vision board you stopped updating for yourself.
I'll walk you through what I actually do in my own relationship, what I've watched clients do, and I've got some reflection prompts for you at the end if you want to sit with this properly.
Fair warning - if you've been playing the cool, low-maintenance girlfriend, or the devoted wife who puts everyone else first, this one might sting a bit. That's alright. Stay with it.

Stop Analysing Why They Did It (Focus On This Instead)
2026/08/17
You know the spiral. Something happens with your partner, your mate, your sister, and instead of feeling it, you're straight into detective mode. Why did they say that? What's going on for them? Is it their attachment style, their childhood, a bad day?
Sound familiar, sister? If you've done any personal development at all, you've got a library of explanations on tap for other people's behaviour. And that's exactly the problem.
In this short and sweet one, I'm calling out a pattern I see constantly in over-functioning, over-giving women: using your self-awareness and compassion on everyone except yourself. The ruminating, the theorising, the endless "well maybe it's because..." isn't understanding. It's another way of over-functioning. Another way of making yourself responsible for someone else's behaviour instead of your own response to it.
I walk through why this happens (hello, sense of control), what it actually costs you, and the one phrase that's changed how I handle conflict for good: impact is more important than intent.
In this episode:
Why over-functioning women default to analysing other people instead of themselvesThe real cost of ruminating on someone else's behaviourA live example of shifting from "why are they like this" to "what do I want"The phrase that'll change how you handle every hard conversation from here onFeeling hurt by someone who isn't showing up the way you need them to? Stop trying to get inside their head. Come find out what putting yourself first actually looks like in the Sisterhood.

Female Friendships Are Just as Traumatising as Romantic Ones - with Amy Rushworth Dating + Relationship Coach
2026/08/10
You've healed your childhood wounds. You've done the work on your romantic relationship. You can spot a red flag in a man from three streets away.
But have you ever sat down and actually looked at your friendships the same way?
In this episode I'm joined by my friend and dating and relationship coach Amy Rushworth, and we go somewhere the internet basically never goes. Not dating. Not men. Female friendship. The wounds, the patterns, the heartbreak that can be just as brutal as anything a man's ever put us through.
Amy's spent years helping women heal their romantic patterns, but she's honest about the fact that the next level of the video game for her was her friendships with women. And once she said that out loud to me, I knew this conversation had to happen.
We get into why we'll pour endless energy into fixing our love life and completely ignore the same wounds showing up with our girlfriends. Why being the reliable one, the low maintenance one, the one who always initiates, is quietly costing you. And why decentring men might be the single best thing you can do for your friendships.
What we cover:
Amy's origin story, from an absolute shit show of a dating life to ten years happily married, and why healing her romantic wounds just uncovered a new layer with womenTaking personal responsibility without turning it into self blame, and why looking in the mirror is always the more empowering moveThe overgiver pattern, why it feels like a gift and quietly comes from a wound, and how it trains people to expect nothing back from youWhy relationships with women can be just as savagely traumatising as romantic onesBeing a self centred woman (not selfish, self centred) and why decentring your man is one of the healthiest things you can do for your marriage, your friendships, and yourselfFriendship red flags to watch for, and the green flags that actually matterWhy the ability to receive is just as important as the ability to give, and how hard that can be for an overgiverAmy's advice for the woman thinking "where the f**k did all my friends go"A few of my favourite moments:
"Relationships with women can be just as savagely traumatising as romantic relationships."Amy's take on overgiving as a way to stay in control, so you never have to depend on anyone elseThe reminder that friendship is a goal like any other, and sometimes you just have to be brave enough to ask someone to be your friendIf this episode stirred something up for you, I want to know. Screenshot it, pop it in your Instagram stories, tag us both, and let us know what landed.

A Crash Course In Grief: 4 Things I've Learned Supporting My Husband Through His Mum's Cancer
2026/07/27
In March, we found out my mother-in-law has cancer. It's now mid-July and she's in palliative care at home. We have weeks left with her.
I wanted to share this episode as a resource, whether you're supporting a partner through illness, grief, or any traumatic event, or you're the one going through it and need the words to ask for what you actually need.
Four months into this crash course, here's what I'm covering:
Why "let me know if you need anything" is one of the worst things you can say, and what to do insteadHow to stop projecting your own needs onto your grieving partnerWhy honouring someone's nervous system matters more than trying to fix how they're copingHow to support your loved one without abandoning yourself in the processIf you've got your own wisdom on grief, your masters, your PhD in it, send it my way. DM me or drop a comment on Spotify.
Sending you love, whether you're going through this or supporting someone who is.

Your Mid-Year Reset Starts Here (My Pleasure Led Planning Process)
2026/07/20
Summer gives you the space that January never quite does. Time off, time with family, more room to actually reflect on what's happened this year and what you want for the rest of it. In this episode I'm taking you through a mini version of my Pleasure Led Planning process. It's the exact framework we run live every month inside the Sisterhood, so you can do your own mid-year reset right now, wherever you are.
This one is meant to be worked through, not just half listened to while you scroll. Pause it, journal on it, talk it through with a friend who's also into her goals and growth. Whatever works for you.
What's covered
Why decision fatigue, not lack of motivation, is usually the real thing stopping you from following throughCelebrating how far you've come. What you're proud of from 2026 so far, including my own experience of staying devoted to my fitness through a genuinely hard yearAuditing your 2026 goals and vision board. What still fits, what's shifted, and why that's completely normal after six monthsMy own curveball this year, my mother in law's cancer diagnosis landing right as I headed into what's usually my busiest season, and what that taught me about seasons and pivotingWhere you're actually at on the line from where you started this year to where you want to beShiny object syndrome versus genuine misalignment, and how to tell the differenceA New Year's Eve journal prompt to get properly clear on what you want for the rest of the yearEmbodiment. Who you're being when you've hit that goal, including my own reflections on stepping into being a wife and training for my half marathon this OctoberOutcome goals versus process goals, and why process goals (the repeatable, habitual kind) tend to get you there feeling better along the wayBuilding your Pleasure Led plan of action. 3 to 5 concrete steps or habits you can start this weekWhy putting it in the calendar is what makes it real, and how to infuse pleasure into even the hardest tasks

You Taught Them Not to Worry About You (& it's lonely AF)
2026/07/13
Are you the organised one. The one who initiates, who holds it all together, who remembers every birthday and manages every group chat. You're the friend everyone calls when something's going wrong, and you hold space for them beautifully.
Except when it's your turn. Then you go quiet. You don't ask for help. You don't let your feelings take up room, not in the group chat, not at the dinner table, not with your partner.
In this episode I'm talking about how lonely that identity can feel, even when you're surrounded by people who love you. I share why this role gets built so early (hello, being praised for being "so reliable" as a kid), what it's actually costing you now, and what I had to let go of to stop carrying everything alone.
What we cover:
Why being "the strong one" isn't a personality trait, it's a role you were praised into from childhoodThe invisible mental load of constantly tracking, remembering and anticipating for everyone elseWhy you default to going quiet in your own crisis, even with friends you know would show up for youThe difference between being independent and being interdependent, and why independence is actually the lonely oneWhat it actually looks like to let people in, including the small, uncomfortable moment of just saying yes when someone offers to helpWhy saying yes to support is a gift to the other person, not a burden on themMentioned in this episode:

Prenups, Money, And The Real Conversations We Had Before Getting Married
2026/07/06
Before anything else - this break was the longest one I've ever taken from this podcast. It wasn't planned. Adam's mum went into end-of-life care right before the wedding. She was there anyway, watching from her bed on FaceTime, glass of wine in hand, cheersing us from a screen. That's the year it's been. The highest high and the lowest low, sat right next to each other, no space between them. I go into it properly in the episode. Here I just want you to know why I went quiet.
This episode isn't that though. This is the one you've been messaging me for.
Do we have a prenup?
What actually got said about money before the ring went on?
And what did we do at our wedding that made a few people's eyebrows hit the ceiling?
I'm answering all of it. The financial conversation most couples avoid until it's already too late to have it properly.
The decision around a prenup that surprised even some of my own clients.
And the choices we made on our wedding day that weren't for anyone's comfort but our own.
Ready to build this level of honesty into your own relationship?
Cherished opens again in September. Join over the summer on early bird and lock in bonus one-to-one sessions with me, no extra cost. DM the word Cherished on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/kat_horrocks/
