The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 46 – Jesus faces the Sanhedrin
2026/09/20
Jesus is taken from Gethsemane to stand before Annas and then Caiaphas, where false witnesses fail to agree until Jesus openly affirms He is the Christ, leading to a charge of blasphemy and brutal mistreatment. Meanwhile, Peter denies Jesus three times in the courtyard, fulfilling Jesus’ prophecy and fleeing in grief. The pastor emphasizes that Jesus willingly submitted to this suffering and calls believers to trust God and respond with Christlike integrity when facing false accusations or conflict.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 45 – Jesus is Arrested
2026/09/13
Jesus enters Gethsemane fully aware of His mission, experiencing overwhelming grief as He submits to the Father’s will while the disciples repeatedly fail to stay awake and pray. Judas arrives with soldiers, betrays Jesus with a kiss, and despite Peter’s violent reaction, Jesus heals the injured servant and willingly surrenders. The disciples flee, revealing human weakness, while Jesus models courage, compassion, and unwavering obedience to God’s redemptive plan.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 44 – High Priestly Prayer
2026/09/06
Pastor Bob teaches from John 17, where Jesus offers His High Priestly Prayer — the final and longest recorded prayer before He leaves the upper room and goes to Gethsemane. This moment reveals Jesus’ heart for Himself, His disciples, and the future church.
He begins by explaining why the Harmony of the Gospels matters: each gospel writer highlights different aspects of Jesus, and John uniquely records this prayer while the others move directly to the garden.
Jesus first prays for Himself, acknowledging that “the hour has come.” He asks the Father to glorify Him so He can glorify the Father, defines eternal life as knowing God intimately, and affirms that He has completed the work He was sent to do.
Jesus then prays for the eleven disciples, asking the Father to protect them, keep them unified, and sanctify them in the truth. He acknowledges the spiritual danger they will face, grieves Judas’ betrayal, and asks that His joy would be made full in them. Pastor Bob emphasizes that sanctification means being set apart for God’s purpose, and that the Word — empowered by the Holy Spirit — will be their defense.
Finally, Jesus prays for all future believers, asking that the worldwide church would be unified just as He and the Father are one. This unity is meant to testify to the world that Jesus truly was sent by God.
Pastor Bob closes by reminding the congregation that Jesus’ prayer is still active today — and challenges listeners to consider whether their lives reflect God’s glory and draw others toward Him.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 43 – The Helper to Come
2026/08/30
Jesus prepares His disciples for His departure by promising another Helper—the Holy Spirit, an intimate advocate who will live within believers, guide them into truth, and empower them to continue Jesus’ work. He explains that the Spirit is like living water, bringing real, life giving refreshment, conviction, teaching, and continual access to God in a way His physical presence could not. Jesus then gives them the gift of supernatural peace, assuring them that although they will face tribulation, the Spirit enables them to walk in life and peace because He has overcome the world.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 42 – All for Gods Glory
2026/08/23
Jesus teaches His disciples during the Last Supper that His coming suffering is not a defeat but part of God’s plan to glorify the Father. After Judas leaves, He gives them a new commandment to love one another with the same radical, sacrificial love He has shown. He then explains that believers will carry on His work through the Holy Spirit, asking in His name for things that glorify God, make Christ known, and serve others humbly.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 41 – The Last Supper
2026/08/16
Jesus leads His disciples into Jerusalem for His final Passover, giving Peter and John precise, faith‑testing instructions that guide them to the upper room—likely the home of John Mark’s family—where the meal will take place. During the supper, Jesus reveals Himself as the true Passover Lamb, establishes the new covenant through bread and wine, and teaches that His sacrifice will bring forgiveness, unity, and the fulfillment of God’s kingdom. Pastor Bob emphasizes that while God is sovereign, believers still have a role to play—examining their hearts, repenting, participating in communion with intention, and actively sharing Christ so that His kingdom may come.
All We Like Sheep Have Gone Astray & Cause That’s God
2026/08/09
Pastor Tom uses the three parables in Luke 15—the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son—to show that every person is spiritually lost in one way or another, yet deeply pursued and treasured by God. Drawing from Scripture, personal stories, and the helpless nature of sheep, he emphasizes that Jesus is the Good Shepherd who carries us home, rejoices over every sinner who repents, and never leaves His people even in the valleys of life. In part two, he highlights the honest prayer “I believe; help my unbelief,” reminding the church that God meets us in our weakness, fills our lives with faith instead of fear, and delights in rescuing and restoring us—because that’s God.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 39 – The Farewell Discourse, Pt 1
2026/08/02
Jesus delivers His final public teaching before the Last Supper, explaining that His approaching death is necessary—like a grain of wheat that must fall and die to bear much fruit—and asking the Father to glorify His name, prompting an audible response from heaven. Though many witnessed miracles and even heard God’s voice, some still refused to believe, while others believed secretly but would not confess Him for fear of losing status or being cast out of the synagogue. John emphasizes that true faith requires openly embracing Christ, and Pastor Bob reminds believers that everything Jesus did—including the cross—was for the glory of God, shaping how we pray, live, and seek Him today.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 38 – Satan Targets Judas
2026/07/26
Judas’ offended, prideful reaction to Mary’s extravagant anointing becomes the opening Satan has been waiting for, turning a sinful thought into a destructive decision. Acting on that pride, Judas meets with the chief priests, accepts payment, and becomes the instrument through which Satan advances his plan to betray Jesus. Pastor Bob shows how Judas’ progression—from irritation to indignation to action—illustrates the danger of unrepented sin and reminds believers that while Satan prowls for openings, Christ has given His followers authority to resist him.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 37 – The Olivet Discourse
2026/07/19
Jesus delivers eight sharp “woes” against the Pharisees for hypocrisy and spiritual corruption before leaving the temple and teaching His disciples privately on the Mount of Olives about the end times. In the Olivet Discourse, He describes deception, wars, persecution, falling away, the abomination of desolation, and His eventual return, emphasizing that no one knows the day or hour and urging His followers to stay alert and prepared. Through parables like the fig tree, the ten virgins, the talents, and the sheep and goats, Jesus calls believers to readiness, faithfulness, and wise stewardship as they await His coming.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 36 – Jesus Authority Questioned
2026/07/12
After cleansing the temple, Jesus continues teaching openly, prompting the priests and Pharisees—fearful of losing influence and unable to refute Him—to challenge His authority in front of the crowds. Jesus responds with a brilliant counter question about John the Baptist’s authority, trapping them between admitting the truth or angering the people, exposing their hypocrisy and fear of man. Their refusal to answer reveals their unwillingness to submit to God’s authority, while Jesus stands firm as the true High Priest and King whose authority every person must ultimately choose to accept or reject.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 35 – Jesus Rights Many Wrongs
2026/07/05
Jesus returns to Jerusalem for His final Passover and, after weeping over the city’s spiritual blindness, enters the temple to confront the corruption that has overtaken its courts. Priests and vendors were exploiting worshipers through rigged inspections, inflated exchange rates, and repeated resale of sacrificial animals, turning the Court of the Gentiles into a noisy marketplace instead of a place of prayer. By overturning tables, driving out merchants, and stopping people from carrying goods through the outer court, Jesus restores dignity to Gentile worshipers and exposes the religious hypocrisy that had hollowed out true worship.
The Better Portion
2026/06/28
Mary of Bethany is shown as the model disciple—every time Scripture mentions her, she is at Jesus’ feet, listening, mourning, or worshiping, choosing closeness with Him over every distraction. Pastor Tom teaches that believers must intentionally draw near to God through Scripture, prayer, worship, and consistent fellowship, because true transformation happens when we dwell with Jesus, not merely visit Him. Using Mary’s example, the worship team’s story, and the reminder that prayer is time with our Father, he urges the church to choose “the better portion” daily—remaining close to Jesus in a life shaped by His presence.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 34 – Jesus Curses the Fig Tree
2026/06/21
Jesus leaves the triumphal entry, weeps over Jerusalem’s spiritual blindness, and warns that their rejection of Him will lead to devastating judgment, which is fulfilled decades later in 70 AD. The next morning, He curses a leafy fig tree that appears fruitful but has no figs, using it as a living parable of Israel’s religious leaders who look righteous outwardly yet produce no true spiritual fruit. Jesus then teaches His disciples that genuine faith requires hearing from God and bearing real fruit, urging believers to examine their hearts so they do not drift into hypocrisy or hard‑heartedness like the Pharisees.
The Harmony of the Gospels – Week 33 – The Triumphal Entry
2026/06/14
Jesus enters Jerusalem at Passover exactly as prophecy foretold, riding a donkey as a peaceful King while crowds shout “Hosanna!” and lay cloaks and branches before Him. Every detail—from the timing to the location to the manner of His arrival—reveals Him as the true Messiah, even as Judas has already begun plotting His betrayal. Pastor Bob highlights how people across history instinctively resist Jesus’ kingship, using the sealed Eastern Gate as an example, and reminds us that the real battle is spiritual, not political, and that Jesus alone brings the salvation many unknowingly fight against.
