Why Growing Pains Are a Good Sign (Not a Warning)
2026/09/20
Growth feels good until it doesn't. Somewhere in the middle of moving forward, most of us hit a wall nobody warned us about.
This week Pastor Paul looks at a moment in the early church (Acts 6) where fast growth exposed a real problem. How they handled it says more than the growth itself.
This about why growth hurts before it pays off, why the best season of your life and the hardest one can be true at the same time, and why getting stretched isn't proof something's broken. It might be proof something's working.
Your Doubts Might Be the Point
2026/09/13
What if the most famous doubter in the Bible wasn't a failure of faith but the reason the message made it 4,000 miles from home?
This week we kick off a new series called UNDERWAY, about finding your bearings when you're in the middle of change in your life, your work, your faith, or all three at once.
We look at the story of Thomas: the disciple who said out loud what everyone else was probably thinking, "I don't believe it until I see it."
He gets remembered as "Doubting Thomas." But history tells a different story, Thomas ended up traveling further than any other disciple to share what he'd seen, eventually reaching what's now Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, and India.
This isn't a message about ignoring your doubts or forcing yourself to "just believe." It's about what doubt is actually for and why the people who ask the hardest questions are sometimes the ones who go the furthest.
Why Trying Harder Won't Set You Free
2026/09/06
You've probably tried to fix yourself before. A new habit, more willpower, a better routine. And it worked for a while, until it didn't. This message is about why that keeps happening, and what actually changes it.
Pastor Julie unpacks a single line from the book of Galatians: "it is for freedom that we are set free", and uses it to ask a harder question: if you're already trying so hard, why do you still feel stuck? The answer isn't about trying harder. It's about the difference between white-knuckling your way through life and actually being free from the things that keep pulling you back: old patterns, wrong beliefs about yourself, habits you can't seem to shake.
This is for anyone who's ever felt like they're the only one who can't get it together, even if everyone else around them looks like they have it figured out. It's honest about the fact that willpower alone doesn't work, and that trying to change alone is one of the hardest ways to do it.
The Voice You're Probably Missing Every Day
2026/08/30
Most of us are waiting for a sign. Something so loud we can't miss it. But what if it already walked past you this morning — in a text you didn't really read, a neighbor who needed five more minutes, a meeting where you were waiting to talk instead of listening?
For anyone who's wondered if there's more going on underneath daily life, and whether you can actually get better at noticing it — this is for you.
I Got Lost in a Bookstore at 5. Here's What It Taught Me About God.
2026/08/23
Most of us have had that thought: I’m not enough. I don’t deserve this. I’ve made too many mistakes.
It shows up in our relationships, at work, and in the way we talk to ourselves. Sometimes, that voice gets pretty loud.
This message from Sheryl Samuel looks at Jesus’ story of a shepherd who leaves everything to find one missing sheep. But instead of asking, “How do I find my way back?” we’re asking: What keeps me from letting myself be found?
Why 'You're Not That Important' Is Actually Good News
2026/08/16
Ever had a moment where you thought you had it together — and then life very publicly proved you didn't? This message is about humility. It's about what happens when you stop performing, stop keeping score, and just show up as you actually are.
When Do You Scroll Past Someone Who Needs Help?
2026/08/09
We’ve all seen a need and kept moving. In the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus challenges us to stop asking, “Who is my neighbour?” and start showing compassion through action.
Pastor Paul explores what keeps us from helping, and what it means to truly show up for others.
You've Got Something You're Too Scared to Use
2026/08/02
Somewhere in your life, there’s something you’re not using. A skill. An idea. A conversation you keep putting off.
This is for anyone who’s ever had a good idea and let it sit.
What If Loving "Difficult" People Is the Whole Point?
2026/07/26
Everyone has someone they'd rather not sit next to: the coworker who never says thanks, the neighbor whose lifestyle you don't get, the stranger who looks like trouble.
This one's for anyone who's kept their distance from church, and for anyone inside it still figuring out what it really means to love people well.
Prayer Isn’t About Begging God
2026/07/19
What if prayer isn’t about saying the perfect words, but staying connected to God?
Jesus teaches us that persistence in prayer isn’t about convincing God to care, it’s about learning to keep showing up.
Why This Woman's Past Became Her Power
2026/07/05
A woman walks into a dinner she wasn't invited to. She kneels down, starts crying on a stranger's feet, and wipes them with her hair. Everyone in the room is thinking the same thing — except the one person she came for.
This message walks through one of the most uncomfortable dinner scenes in the Gospels: a respected religious leader quietly judging a woman he considers beneath him, while she does something extravagant, embarrassing, and honest in front of everyone. Jesus uses the moment to ask a harder question than "who's right" — he asks who actually understands what they've been forgiven for.
This isn't really a story about a scandalous woman. It's about the difference between people who've gone numb to their own need for grace and people who haven't forgotten it. Whether you grew up in church, walked away from it, or have never set foot in one — this message is for anyone who's ever wondered if being "put together" is the same as being honest.
Why God Doesn't Answer Prayers Instantly
2026/06/28
Ever prayed for something and expected God to answer it like a same-day delivery? This week we're kicking off a new summer series — Few Could Understand — looking at the stories Jesus told that most people only think they understand.
We're starting with the parable of the mustard seed: a tiny seed that grows into something way bigger than it has any right to. It shows up in Matthew, Mark, and Luke, with small but telling differences between each version — and it's really a story about expectation. The people listening to Jesus expected an instant, total kingdom takeover. What they got instead was something small, slow, and almost invisible at first.
This one's for anyone who's ever prayed for something and gotten frustrated when nothing seemed to happen — or anyone who's watched someone they care about struggle for years with no visible change. It's a conversation about patience, about growth you can't always see while it's happening, and about trusting a process that doesn't move on your timeline.
Who Told You You're Not Qualified?
2026/06/21
Not qualified enough. Not experienced enough. Not knowledgeable enough.
That's the voice that keeps people on the sidelines.
What if that's not true?
In this message, Pastor Paul looks at a surprising moment in John 20, where Jesus hands ordinary people an extraordinary job. It's about purpose, identity, and why the people who feel most overlooked are often the closest to making an impact.
The Reason You Feel Stuck
2026/06/14
Most of us think growth happens when we learn more. Read more. Take a class, get the notes, check the box. But what if that's exactly why so many people feel like they're going nowhere?
In this talk, Pastor Paul unpacks one of the most misunderstood ideas in all of human development — the difference between knowing something and being formed by it. Using the story of Jesus calling his first followers, he makes the case that real change doesn't happen in a classroom — it happens in relationship, in the mess of real life, alongside people you're willing to be honest with.
Stop Doing More. Start Being Present.
2026/06/07
Two sisters. A dinner party.
Martha is working hard — doing exactly what she's supposed to.
Mary stops and sits. Jesus says Mary got it right.
This isn't about doing less. It's about what happens when life gets so full that you lose track of what actually matters. Activity vs. attention.
