How to Understand How Much God Loves You | Shannon O'Dell
2026/09/27
Week 3 of Cosmetheology Instead of Cosmetology. There are more than 100 verses about hair in Scripture, and this week Pastor Shannon O'Dell lands on one of the most personal ones. Out of Matthew 10, Jesus says the very hairs on your head are numbered. Not counted. Numbered. And in the original language, it was already finished before the world was made. The message works out what that means for how you live: fear God instead of everybody else's opinion, trust that you matter, give him all of yourself instead of a trimmed public version, and quit living in proving mode. It ends on the dream you've had sitting on the back burner, and five things that move it to the front.
Don't Waste Your Future on a Feeling | Shannon O'Dell
2026/09/27
Week 2 of our series on the stories of hair in Scripture. Last week was Absalom. This week Pastor Shannon O'Dell takes on Esau, the hairiest man in the Bible, and the day he traded his birthright for a bowl of soup. Out of Genesis 25 through 32, the message unpacks what he calls the Esau syndrome: trading the when and then of heaven for the here and now of earth. It covers how to dodge impulse and hold onto your inheritance, two warnings for parents out of Isaac and Rebekah, and what changed in Jacob at the Jabbok when he finally stopped running. It ends where the whole thing has been going. A new name, a new walk, and change that carries past you to the next generation.
Victory is found in the Woods | Shannon O'Dell

Absalom had everything going for him. Good looks, a following, and five pounds of hair he weighed in front of the whole town once a year. He also had ambition his father never handed him, and it cost him his life in a forest outside the city. In this message, Pastor Shannon O'Dell walks through 2 Samuel 14 through 18 and what the Bible has to say about hair, image, and the environments we wander into. The woods killed more of Absalom's men than the sword did. They were good soldiers. They were just in the wrong place. If you've been fighting a battle you were never called to fight, or carrying bitterness toward someone who hurt you, this one is for you. Scripture referenced: Matthew 10:30, 2 Samuel 14:25-26, 2 Samuel 15:1, 2 Samuel 15:6, 2 Samuel 15:24, 2 Samuel 16:23, 2 Samuel 18:5, 2 Samuel 18:8-9
Avoid Parenting Trouble | Shannon O'Dell
2026/09/06
Family Game Night, Week 4. This week Pastor Shannon O'Dell pulls out the OG Trouble box and talks about kids, because kids are trouble. The message walks through three "pop-o-matic parenting myths" a lot of Christian homes believe, then gets into what actually shapes the next generation. Out of 1 Timothy 3, Deuteronomy 6, and Hebrews 12, it comes down to getting your vertical relationship with Jesus right so the horizontal ones work. If you're a parent, a grandparent, an aunt or uncle, a coach, or a teacher, this one is for you. It closes with four things you can start tonight, and a reminder that it's not too late.
Sorry is Not Enough | Shannon O'Dell
2026/08/30
Family Game Night, Week 3. This week Pastor Shannon O'Dell uses the game "Sorry!" to get at the difference between being sorry and actually asking for forgiveness. Out of 2 Corinthians 7, the message walks through what godly sorrow produces in a person and why worldly sorrow just leaves you with regret. It also gets into living offended, what offense does to your relationships over time, and the three words most people can't get out of their mouth. If you're carrying something from 2012 or 20 years ago, this one's for you.
Your Words Shape Your Home | Shannon O'Dell
2026/08/23
Family Game Night, Week 2: Scrabble | Pastor Shannon O'Dell | Brand New Church In Scrabble you don't just play the first word you see. You look at the tiles you were handed and work for the best possible play. Pastor Shannon uses that picture to talk about communication in your home. Most relationship problems come down to a communication problem, and the words we throw out reactively are usually the ones that do the damage. This week covers six things worth scratching out better words for: your feelings, conflict, priorities, habits, building people up, and honor. Honor is the one that changes the game. Mark 6 says Jesus could not do miracles in his hometown because they would not honor him, and dishonor at home still costs us more than we realize. 10 verses to center your home on: Philippians 2:14 Proverbs 26:18-19 Proverbs 10:19 Joshua 24:15 Philippians 4:13 1 Corinthians 15:33 Hebrews 10:35 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Philippians 2:4 1 Corinthians 13:5 Also referenced: Proverbs 3:3-4, Philippians 2:5, Ephesians 4:25-26, Matthew 6:33, Ephesians 6:1, Colossians 3:20, 1 Peter 2:17, John 1:14, Mark 6:4-5, 1 Peter 3:7 All of these verses are in the Brand New Church app, ready to copy and send to yourself.
Build Your Family on a Sold Foundation | Shannon O'Dell
2026/08/16
Jenga is Swahili for "build." You stack 18 levels, three blocks wide, and then everybody starts pulling pieces out. The tower stands or falls on one thing: what's underneath. Pastor Shannon opens a new series on the family with the game on stage and five building blocks that decide whether a home holds up. Authority. A Roman officer in Matthew 8 gets something most religious people missed, and Jesus is amazed by it. Get the order right (God, then your spouse, then your kids, then your job) and everything else has somewhere to sit. The Bible never says family first. It says seek first the kingdom. Identity. The day your identity shifts from Jesus to your kids is the day you stop living for Jesus and start living for them. Children are arrows, and arrows have a target. Three ways parents get this wrong: performance, reputation management, and emotional dependence. Plus the one nobody wants to hear, living vicariously through your kids instead of releasing them to be victorious. Responsibility. Nobody shapes your child's soul but you. Some homes are run by CEO kids who set the calendar, decide about church, and call the shots. Parents, be the CEO of your home. Priority. Priorities are what you say. Commitments are what you do. If you want to know what somebody actually prioritizes, don't ask, just look at what they're committed to. Shannon calls it the decision before the decision, and it's why he doesn't have to think about whether he's praying with Cindy tonight. Consistency. You're parenting a worshiper. That doesn't happen in a week. It happens when you do it again, and again, on the days you don't feel like it. Scripture: Matthew 8:5-10, Matthew 6:33, Romans 13:2, Psalm 127:3-5, Ephesians 6:4, 1 Timothy 5:8 Wherever your foundation is right now, you can go back and fix it. That's the whole point of the series. Subscribe for new messages every week from Brand New Church.
God's Promise Prevails in the Storm | Ryne Lynch
2026/08/09
Jesus told Paul he was going to Rome. The sail should have taken three or four weeks. It took two and a half years. In between, Paul sat in a Jerusalem jail, got put on a ship that never should have left, spent 14 days in a storm with no sun or stars to steer by, watched all 276 people on board give up hope, and got bit by a snake about five minutes after washing up on an island he'd never heard of. None of that canceled what God said. We're in Acts 27 and 28 this week, walking through three things that didn't change the promise: the delay, the difficulty, and the detour. Delay shows you where you've started cutting corners. Storms show you what you actually trust when the cargo goes over the side. And Malta, the island nobody would have picked, is where the gospel landed and stayed. That island is over 85% Christian today, with a port named after Paul and a holiday every year for the day the ship wrecked there. You don't get to pick the storm. You do get to pick whether you trust Jesus in it and how you respond. Some of what we cover: The delay in your life doesn't change the promise over your life Cutting the rope on the lifeboat (Acts 27:30-32) God never promised Paul the boat. He promised him Rome. Paul shook the snake into the fire and got back to work Stay faithful where you are, because everything you need to get where you're going is already there Scripture: Acts 9:5, 9:15, 23:11, 27:20, 27:30-32, 28:1-10, Philippians 1:12-14, 4:22 If this one hit you, like it, subscribe, and send it to somebody sitting in a season they didn't plan on.
How to Know You Are Truly Saved | Shannon O'Dell
2026/08/02
Jesus once pushed a boat out from the shore, sat down, and told seven stories that answered one question: what is the kingdom of heaven really like? In Week 4 of the Summer Boat Parade, Pastor Shannon walks through Matthew 13 — the only chapter where Jesus explains two of His own parables — and lands on the one picture that may describe the modern American church better than any other: a field where the wheat and the weeds grow side by side, looking almost identical until the harvest. If you've ever wondered whether you're truly saved or just familiar with church, this message is for you. You'll learn the five marks of a weed — compromise, callousness, compartmentalization, being "churched," and living on a maybe — and the four marks of wheat: committed, consistent, convinced, and a changed choice. "You can believe in soap and still die dirty. But you cannot live like hell and expect heaven." Don't wait on a maybe. Settle it today. 📖 SCRIPTURES: Matthew 13:1-30, Matthew 7:20-21, Luke 9:23, Romans 6:6-11, Galatians 2:20, Galatians 5:24, Colossians 3:3, Colossians 3:10, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9, Romans 10:13, 1 John 1:9 🙏 MADE A DECISION TODAY? Jesus Made You to Build the Boat | Shannon O'Dell
2026/07/26
In Matthew 24, standing on the Mount of Olives, Jesus reaches back thousands of years and tells one more boat story — the days of Noah. A boat the size of a football field and a half. A door open for decades. And a world that walked right past it without changing a thing. This week in the Summer Boat Parade, we're asking a question that goes deeper than "am I saved?" — it's "what am I doing with the boat?" Because Jesus didn't just save you from something. He saved you for something. We'll look at how you know you're on mission: loving God supremely, trusting Him completely, obeying Him wholeheartedly, praising Him continually, and using your life willingly. And we'll walk through the questions that tell you you're building the right boat — does it agree with God's Word, does it make you more like Jesus, does your church family confirm it, and is it consistent with how God shaped you? The door is still open. There's still time to build. Scripture: Matthew 24:37 • Genesis 6:5, 6:8-9, 6:22, 7:4, 8:20 • Hebrews 11:7 • Philippians 2:5 • Proverbs 8:34, 11:14 • Luke 21:33
Your Life Overflows When Jesus Steps In | Shannon O'Dell
2026/07/19
Jesus asked Simon for one thing: push the boat out a little from shore. What followed was a night of empty nets turned into two boats so full they started to sink. In week 2 of this series, Pastor Shannon walks through Luke 5:1-11 and the question behind the whole story — how much of your boat have you actually given to Jesus? Your marriage, your business, your kids, your resources, your time. You can't control much, but you can control that. Give God access to your boat. Do it His way. Launch out into the deep. Throw something over the side. Then watch what overflow looks like. Scripture: Luke 5:1-11, Psalm 23:6, Psalm 68:19, John 6:7, John 16:24, Ephesians 2:4, 1 Timothy 1:14 — Thanks for watching. What You Never Knew About America | Shannon O'Dell
2026/07/05
In this powerful Week 2 message of "The American Miracle" series, we uncover the untold story behind the Star-Spangled Banner and how America's founding documents — the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights — reveal a nation built on the Word of God. From Francis Scott Key on a truce boat during the Battle of Fort McHenry, to the four direct mentions of God in the Declaration of Independence, this message challenges the myth that America's founding was secular — and calls the church to rise up as a moral voice for this generation. What You'll Learn The true story behind the Star-Spangled Banner and the flag at Fort McHenryWhy the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights are three separate documents (and why that matters)The five pillars every believer needs to know: religious liberty, self-governance, biblical truth, moral voice, and the gospelHow to answer the claim that "God isn't in the Constitution"Why the local church — not government — is the key to national renewalScripture References 2 Timothy 3:16-17Matthew 5:13-181 Timothy 2:1-2Proverbs 14:12John 8:321 Peter 2:12Luke 21:13-15Ecclesiastes 3:11
The Miraculous Founding of America | Shannon O'Dell
2026/06/28
Is America a miracle? In week one of American Miracle, Pastor Shannon explores the spiritual foundation of America and the responsibility of the Church in a nation desperately in need of healing. Centered on 2 Chronicles 7:14, this message challenges believers to look inward before looking outward. Rather than making this about winning political arguments, Pastor Shannon calls the Church to humble itself, pray, seek God, turn from sin, strengthen the family, honor worship, and live with Jesus at the center. This is a message about resisting mission drift, reclaiming the gospel-centered purpose of the Church, and becoming a living case for the truth we believe. Contend til the End | Shannon O'Dell

Contend, Don't Pretend | Bunk Bed Diaries – Week 6 | Jude (Father's Day) This is it. The final week of Bunk Bed Diaries, and it's Father's Day, which means it's time to put the gloves on. Jude, the half brother of Jesus, sat down to write the New Testament church a letter about everything good. The resurrection, the gospel, the hope of glory. But he hit pause. Because there was something more urgent he had to say first: contend for the faith. This message gets practical fast, especially for dads. Be watchful over what's in your house. Stand firm and don't back down. Defend what God has given you, even when it costs you. And when you get punched in the face (and you will), get back up and keep fighting. In this message: What "contend" actually means in the original language, and why it's not a metaphorThe difference between defending the truth and just being angry onlineHow to spot infiltrators trying to rewrite truth as feelingsWhy moral relativism falls apart the same way bad math or a bad bridge doesThe four things that keep you in the fight when you want to quit: build yourself up, pray in the Spirit, stay in God's love, and go get someone📖 Jude 1 | 1 Timothy 6:12 | 2 Timothy 4:7 | 1 Corinthians 16:13 | 1 Corinthians 15 📲 Text BRAND NEW to 94000 to take a next step. 🌐 [brandnewchurch.com] 📱 Download the Brand New Church app
