Grow Up! | The Follow Up | Hebrews 5:11–6:3
2026/10/26
What does it mean to grow up in your faith—and why does knowing more not always mean growing more? Pastor Bill joins Pastors Adam and Jack to discuss Hebrews 5:11–6:3 and the October 25 message, “Grow Up!” They explore spiritual laziness, grace-driven effort, and the difference between knowing God’s truth and putting it into practice. They also share how family, honest friends, humility and daily rhythms help us keep growing. In the Deep Dive, Adam connects discernment in Hebrews 5:14 with the temptation in Eden and the importance of learning to distinguish good from evil through God’s Word. How to Approach God | The Follow Up | Hebrews 4:14–5:10
2026/10/19
Do you ever feel like you need to get your life together before you can come to God? Pastors Bill Van Kirk, Jack Guerra, and Adam Jackson discuss Hebrews 4:14–5:10 and what it means to approach God through Jesus, our great High Priest. They connect the passage with the previous week's reminder that God's Word exposes our hearts—and explain why that honesty can lead us toward God instead of keeping us away. In the Deep Dive, Jack explains the high priest's role and why Jesus changed how the first readers of Hebrews understood access to God. The conversation turns to everyday prayer: coming with confidence and humility, bringing failure to God, and trusting him when his answer isn't what we expected. The pastors also discuss why you don't need a pastor's special access to pray, and why trusting Jesus is the starting point of the confidence this passage describes. A question to carry into your week: What have you been trying to fix on your own before bringing it to God? Main passage: Hebrews 4:14–5:10 Series: Hebrews — Greater Than Sermon: How to Approach God | October 18, 2026 Recorded: October 19, 2026 CHAPTERS 00:00 Jesus is where we meet God 00:14 Welcome: How to Approach God 00:55 When God's Word exposes our hearts 04:42 Why Jesus is the better High Priest 06:24 Deep Dive: The High Priest and access to God 09:52 Approaching God with confidence and humility 13:09 Stop waiting to fix yourself first 17:06 When God's answer differs from our expectations 18:41 Bringing your needs to God 20:10 The first step: Trusting Jesus 20:54 What are you learning from Hebrews? Finding the Rest You’re Missing | The Follow Up | Hebrews 4:1–13
2026/10/12
What does it look like to find rest when life is still hard? Pastors Jack, Jeff, and Bill discuss Hebrews 4:1–13 in Week 5 of Spring Lake Church’s Greater Than series. They explore the difference between an easier schedule and the rest that comes from trusting what Jesus has already accomplished. The conversation follows three points from the passage: the promise of rest is open today, our response matters, and God sees the truth of our response. Along the way, the pastors talk about trusting God under pressure, finding peace in difficult responsibilities, and letting God’s Word expose the places where we’re still struggling to trust him. In the Deep Dive, they trace the theme of rest through creation, the wilderness generation, Psalm 95, and Joshua. They close with practical ways to bring prayer and trust into the moments that are causing unrest. A question to carry into your week: What is one situation you’re struggling to trust God with—and what would it look like to invite him into it?
