A solo episode from me, detailing my recent visit to my MP!
I talk about why MP engagement is so important, even if it can feel a teensy bit frustrating; how and why my MP visit came about; what happened during my visit; and my top tips for MP visits (because obviously I'm now officially an expert having done one..!)
If you're looking for tips and a bit of gently encouragement to engage with your MP on climate stuff, whether that's off the back of a People's Emergency Briefing, or something else, I hope this is helpful!

The Big Toy Swap - with Charlotte Mason-Curl
2026/09/25
In the UK we buy 37 million toys a year! And 80% of them end up in landfill, incinerators, or the oceans.
In this episode I'm welcoming Charlotte Mason-Curl, founder of No Crap Parties back to the podcast. In a bid to try and keep some of these toys in use for longer, Charlotte is running The Big Toy Swap this November and has a goal of 50 Toy Swaps happening all around the country. We dive into the nitty gritty and hopefully answer all your questions about hosting a toy swap and make it feel super do-able! And if you’re like me and have older kids, or maybe don’t have any kids at all, that doesn’t let you off the hook–we talk about ways to hook up with schools or brownie or scout groups, to run a Toy Swap in your local community.
AND we’ve got the first ever podcast giveaway!
I’ve got two ‘rescue’ copies of Charlotte’s book Elf Chloe’s Surprise to give away. To enter, either come and find me on Instagram (@Sustainableish) and comment 'Elf Chloes Surprise' on the post, or leave a comment that includes the phrase 'Elf Chloe's Surprise' wherever you get your podcasts.

Zero Waste(ish)
2026/09/11
This episode is a solo episode from me, all about bins! Specifically my bins and how we only put out bin out once every 9-12 months.
It’s Zero Waste Week this week, so whilst I would very much not consider us a ‘zero waste’ household, I wanted to share some tips to help us all be ‘zero-waste(ish)’, ie produce less waste, rather that’s recycling or waste destinted for landfill or incineration.

Climate anxiety - with Linda Aspey
2026/09/04
In this episode we take a dive into climate anxiety, and I’m chatting to Linda Aspey who amongst many other roles is Director of Psychology at the People’s Emergency Briefing and a board member of the Climate Psychology Alliance.
We explore:
- what is climate anxiety?
-why do some people have it and some don’t?
- why for some people it tips into something that starts to disturb their ability to do the things they want and need to
- some of the things that can help.
Linda mentions some sources of support in the episode, and I’ve linked to them below - if you’re really struggling with your mental health, then please do reach out for support. You’re not on your own. There is support out there, lots of which can be accessed at very low or no cost.

What makes a pilot give up flying? With Dan Tipney
2026/08/28
This week I’m joined by Dan Tipney, a former airline pilot who co-founded Safe Landing, a community of aviation workers and enthusiasts, working together to figure out what it might look like to have a world where aviation flourishes, in harmony with nature.
This episode isn’t an episode in flight shaming anyone, and absolutely doesn’t have the intention of making anyone feel bad about the choices they’re making. We obviously talk about the impact of flying, because coming to terms with the cold hard facts around that is a key part of Dan’s story. But this episode is more about the power of story-telling and conversations, about how two things can be true at the same time, and about how learning to recognise that and sit with the discomfort that it can bring, could help us all to have better climate conversations.

Reducing E-waste and improving repair skills with Anaïs Engelmann from Team Repair
2026/08/14
There are 60 million tonnes of e-waste generated every year globally – that's around the same as the weight of nearly 6,000 Eiffel Towers!
And E-waste is the fastest growing waste stream globally, with the UK as the second biggest e-waste producer in the world.
Team Repair are on a mission to change that through education and repair kits to help us all feel a bit more confident having a go at mending our broken electronics.
Tune in to to hear from co-founder Anaïs Engelmann about some of the wider issues around e-waste, how Team Repair got started, and the great work they're doing with kids, schools, and their new mobile phone repair kit for grown ups.

Could secondhand fashion be a lever for positive change within the wider fashion industry? And what might that look like?

Gemma shares her journey on her instagram account, @the_elephant_in_my_wardrobe, where she does a brilliant job of bringing people along with her, encouraging us all to ask more questions of our own choices, but also of the brands and businesses we're choosing to give our money to.

Parents for Future with Charlotte Howell
2026/07/24
The idea of 'activism' can be off putting and perhaps a little daunting for many of us. If that's you, then do listen in to my chat with Charlotte Howell, one of the co-Directors of Parents for Future, a growing group of parents navigating the climate crisis together, campaigning on national and local issues to secure a safer, fairer world for children everywhere.
I’ve been following Charlotte for ages on social media, and I wanted to get her on the podcast to share more about Parents for Future and the work that they’re doing, because I think it’s such a brilliant way for us all (because despite the name, it’s not just for parents) to engage in ‘activism’ in a way that works for us. It’s a really inclusive way to dip your toes in and join together with other people, all working towards the same goal of a safe future for our kids and kids all around the world.

Poo bags! With Alice Judge and Gavin Gan from Pet Impact
2026/07/17
This episode we’re doing a deep dive into Poo bags!
If you’re one of the 41% of households in the UK who own a pet dog, you will (hopefully) be familiar with poo bags, and may be getting through a fair few of them. (If you’re not a dog owner, please do keep listening – we have lots of chat about biodegradable and compostable plastic and what that means – honestly, I’ve made that sound super dull, but it’s actually really interesting!) and it applies to all kinds of plastics that are labelled as compostable eg coffee cups, plastic cups you might get at festivals etc etc. So keep listening!).
Pet Impact are on a mission to reduce waste from the veterinary and pet spaces. When they first started looking at poo bags, they made the same assumption as I had done, and possibly you might have done too, that a compostable poo bag must be the most environmentally friendly option. But as you’ll hear in the podcast, sometimes trying to figure out what the most environmentally friendly option is complicated, and if we just focus on the disposal end of a products life cycle, we’re not getting the full picture.
I love the depth of research that Alice and Gav have gone into with their Reseacled poo bags, and their honesty around their poo bags still not being a perfect solution. Because, spoiler alert, when it comes to poo bags, at the moment, there is no perfect solution.

What poo bags are you currently using?
Do you compost your dog poo?
Would you be willing to buy compost made from dog poo if it had been tested and proven safe?
Are you now questioning your poo bag choices?
So many questions!
Do let me know – you can email me, [email protected] or find me on socials, OR leave a comment on your podcast platform of choice! That last option doubles up as also being a brilliant way to boost the podcast up the charts and get it out there to more people, which would be marvellous!

Climate citizens (and how to be a good one!) with Rebecca Willis
2026/07/10
Climate Change, sadly, has become increasingly polarised in the UK over the last couple of years. And MPs consistently underestimate public support for climate action – they read the same skewed media that we do, and the minority who oppose more ambitious, or indeed any, action, often have the loudest voices. If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s really worth getting in touch with your MP, or how best to engage with them, this episode is a must listen.
Rebecca Willis is a Professor in Energy & Climate Governance at the University of Manchester, where she leads the Climate Citizens research group, looking into the role of public engagement in energy and climate governance. She is an expert advisor to the Climate Change Committee – the independent body that advises the government on tackling and preparing for climate change. And in 2019-2020, she was an Expert Lead to Climate Assembly UK, the first national Citizens’ Assembly on Climate Change, which is something we dive into in the podcast. Becky is also the author of Too Hot to Handle – the democratic challenge of climate change.

Climate action for small businesses, made easy, With Jo Hand
2026/06/26
90% of businesses in the UK are classes as SMEs, or small and medium businesses, having 205 employees or less. So chances are, you might work for one, or even run one.
Did you know that SME's account for around half of the total emissions for businesses? So making it easy, or easier for SMEs to get started with climate action, is a pretty big lever for reducing emissions.
But time and money are usually limiting factors, and this is where Gikis new Giki actions platform comes in.
You might remember today's guest, Jo Hand, as she's been on twice before, talking about different iterations of the work they're doing at Giki. In this episode we're diving into their new Giki actions workshops - free workshops for SMEs, that are just an hour long, that can help them get started on their sustainability journey.
