Abraham, Grace, and the Bigger Picture
2026/10/08
In this crossover episode of the Westminster Effects Doxology Podcast and Resurrection Church Podcast, Cody and Bradley dive deeper into the life of Abraham, exploring some of the theological threads and fascinating details that didn't make it into Bradley's sermons. From God's sovereign grace to His unfolding promises, they examine how the story of Abraham reveals God's character, His faithfulness to His covenant people, and the gradual unfolding of His redemptive plan. Along the way, they discuss how understanding Abraham's place in the larger biblical narrative helps us better understand the unity of Scripture and the God who keeps His promises. Stop Making Christian Art?
2026/09/24
In this episode, Cody and Bradley ask a deceptively simple question: Should there even be such a thing as “Christian art” or a “Christian music industry”? Using recent comments from Islander frontman Mikey Carvajal as a starting point, they discuss the difference between a Christian making art and art that is explicitly Christian, the problems that come with turning faith into a marketing category, and whether the answer is to abandon the label altogether. Along the way, they talk about Christian music as both ministry and industry, the danger of using “Christian” as an excuse for mediocre work, the biblical place of explicitly faith-filled art, and what it looks like for Christians to glorify God through craftsmanship, music, business, and vocation. The question isn’t whether every Christian artist needs to make “Christian art.” It’s whether Christians can make excellent work without either hiding their faith or turning it into a brand. Creeping Death: Metallica, Exodus, and the Judgment of God
2026/08/27
In this episode, Cody is joined by his dad, Stan “Padre” Fields, to dig into the biblical story behind Metallica’s “Creeping Death.” They walk through the song’s retelling of the Exodus, the final plague, Passover, and the judgment of Egypt—and look at where Metallica’s lyrics track closely with the biblical text, where artistic license takes over, and why one of thrash metal’s most famous songs is also an unusually vivid retelling of Scripture. Along the way, they discuss judgment, deliverance, the fear of God, and what happens when biblical imagery escapes the walls of the church and finds its way into heavy metal. How Should Christians Use the Imprecatory Psalms?
2026/08/06
In this episode, Cody and Bradley explore the difficult subject of the imprecatory Psalms—prayers that call for God’s judgment against evil and evildoers. They consider how these passages fit with Jesus’ command to love our enemies, examine biblical examples of praying for justice, and discuss how Christians can use these Psalms faithfully in personal prayer and church liturgy without slipping into bitterness or personal vengeance. What Should Christians Think About AI and Data Centers?
2026/06/25
Artificial intelligence is advancing at a staggering pace, but what does Scripture have to say about it? In this episode, Cody Fields explores the rapid growth of AI, the controversy surrounding massive data centers, and the biblical distinction between stewardship and dominion. The God Who Heals Through Miracles—and Medicine
2026/06/11
What role do miracles, medicine, and God's sovereignty play in healing? In this episode of the Doxology Podcast, we discuss the relationship between divine healing and ordinary means, sharing personal experiences ranging from LASIK surgery to serious bacterial infections. Along the way, we explore how Christians should think about medical treatment, prayer, providence, and the ways God works through both miraculous intervention and everyday means. Can God heal instantly? Does trusting doctors diminish faith? How should believers pray when facing illness or suffering? We wrestle with these questions while emphasizing God's absolute sovereignty over every aspect of life, health, and recovery. Whether you're navigating a health challenge yourself or simply seeking a biblical understanding of healing, this conversation offers encouragement to trust the Lord, use the means He provides, and pray boldly for His mercy. Fender, Lawsuits, and the Ethics of Guitar Design
2026/05/28
On this episode of the Westminster Effects Doxology Podcast, Cody Fields is joined by Jon Ross to discuss the recent legal battles surrounding guitar body shapes, trademarks, and intellectual property in the guitar industry. Using the latest Fender Musical Instruments Corporation controversies as a launching point, the conversation explores where legitimate brand protection ends and where corporate overreach begins. But this episode goes deeper than legal analysis. Cody and Jon also examine the theological and ethical foundations behind these actions: What does biblical justice look like in business? Can companies truly “own” shapes and designs that have become part of culture itself? And how should Christians think about property rights, competition, imitation, and stewardship in a market shaped by both creativity and commerce? Whether you're a guitarist, builder, gear nerd, or just interested in the intersection of theology and culture, this conversation tackles the deeper worldview questions underneath the headlines. What Josiah Queen’s “Judas” Gets Right... and Wrong
2026/05/21
Josiah Queen’s song “Judas” has sparked a lot of discussion among Christians — and for good reason. In this crossover episode between the Westminster Effects Doxology Podcast and Resurrection Church Podcast, Cody Fields, Bradley Cox, and Stephen Turner sit down to carefully discuss the theology, artistic intent, and gospel implications behind the viral song. Is comparing ourselves to Judas biblical? How should Christians think about assurance, repentance, and perseverance? What’s the difference between Peter and Judas? And how should believers approach worship music with discernment? 2026/04/16
